TWO Violet

TWO

Violet

Afew months have passed since Violet woke up in a strange place after her last beating from her ex. From the first time she opened her eyes, Violet has felt the safest she has ever been.

Violet started to talk to a psychologist after the first week. It took her a little while to feel comfortable with Lisa enough to share her life story and all that she has been through. She was told that her ex was in jail but knew it wouldn’t last. It never does.

She hopes he never finds her. Violet would like to live in peace at least once in this lifetime. She hasn’t had the best life, but she never complained about it either. Figured it made her who she was, and as long as it didn’t kill her, it made her stronger, and Violet wanted to get stronger.

Ledger asked her if she had ever taken defense classes, and she shook her head no.

He couldn’t understand why until she explained that a few times, she had signed up for classes but when her ex found out, well it was another beating.

Sometimes, it wasn’t just him. He would allow his friends to beat on her or even rape her, depending on his moods.

Violet wanted to take back her life, so when he asked her to join him in the gym, she smiled at him then went to change her clothes right away.

When Violet got to the gym, a nervous energy shot through her. Ledger was there talking with a few different people. He hadn’t noticed she was there yet, so Violet just stood there and watched their interaction. Violet had been good at reading people or at least she had been before her ex happened.

She saw the way a few of the women would look at him and figured they were interested in him or at least wanted to have a fling with him. Violet noticed he never once gave them a look or even acknowledged them or their flirty looks.

A smile formed on her face, as she thought he might be oblivious to how they feel.

Violet took in Ledger from head to toe and saw a strong man.

He was tall with muscles that made her feel safe whenever she had been in his arms. Ledger had the typical military haircut, but liked that it was a little longer on the top.

“Hey Violet, come over here so I can show you some moves.”

A blush formed on her face as she got caught looking at him, but Violet didn’t think he had noticed.

The women had seen her looking and she heard their whispers as she passed by them.

Violet ignored them as she knew there wouldn’t be anything to come between them.

Ledger was just helping her out as a favor for a friend.

As she got closer to Ledger, she saw a few of his buddies enter the gym and came over to see what they were up to. Ledger explained that he was going to show me some defensive moves and asked if they wanted to help him.

They agreed and for the next few hours, Violet watched the moves the guys had shown her, and then would practice the steps on one of them.

There was always one of them to show her what to do and how to place her hands to make the move easier for her.

Violet learned to use the momentum against her opponent.

Violet tried what Ledger told her and it worked. She was able to get out of the hold and even put him on the floor. She was so happy with herself that she threw herself into Ledgers arms.

Ledger seemed stiff at first but then wrapped his arms around her and let her know how proud he was of her. Violet backed away and apologized for her actions but he wouldn’t hear of it.

“I’m glad you’re taking this seriously. You are a fast learner. I will set up some workout routines to help you get more strength and it will help with the moves. The guys will also help teach you some other types of self-defense.”

Violet was thanking them for helping with teaching her different things to help her feel even safer.

They had all kind of adopted her as their little sister.

She just wished she could call Carpenter and thank him for getting her away from that toxic situation.

Even though they had been broken up for over two years.
