Sweat rolls down my face as Sage and I work together with the crosscut saw on a large log.
We’re on the last event for the Jack and Jill competition, and if we win this one, we’ll win the entire show.
I couldn’t be fucking prouder of the beast my woman has proven to be.
She puts most men I know to shame with her work ethic and skills.
It’s hard to believe her family tried to keep her from doing this. With her talent, she could be working alongside me. It’s their loss and my gain.
When her father found out I was competing with her, he tried to cancel his contract with me. He changed his tune pretty quickly when I got my lawyer involved and he realized he’d have to pay me whether I did the work or not.
The crowd is cheering loudly as we smoke the other teams, including fucking Gary and the twit he found to compete with him. Riley and Harper can be heard above them all as they scream for us. The slice we’re sawing drops from the log. I glance around and see we’re the first to finish.
I drop my end of the saw and close the gap to Sage. Picking her up, I swing her around, planting a smacking kiss on her lips as I do. I fucking love this woman. She is beyond amazing and I never would’ve dreamed she’s been waiting here for me all along.
I’ve already put things in motion to move to Coyote Creek. My house is for sale and I’ve hired people to pack up my shit and have it shipped here because I want to spend as much time as I can with my woman before I have to leave for my next contract.
The log cabin I found here is completely updated with plenty of acreage. Sage doesn’t know it yet, but she’ll be moving in as soon as I close on the property. I’m planning the mother of all surprises for her when it happens.
Once we’re all settled, we can start making babies, because there’s nothing I’m looking forward to more than seeing this woman pregnant with my child. To think a family of my own wasn’t even on my radar a few weeks ago. Now it’s all I can think about.
I better get with Riley and Harper to get a ring picked out ASAP.
