Chapter 13

Cole startled awake and squinted at the sun in his eyes. Morning already? That seemed fast. He’d slept like a bear in hibernation, all tangled up with Bodie, but they’d drifted apart at some point, so he rolled over and put an arm over the cowboy’s solid abs.

It was still a little hard to believe, still very new, and still really, really good. But it had only been one long weekend, and part of Cole was wondering—he sighed. He didn’t feel like wondering. He just wanted to snuggle.

Bodie frowned in his sleep. “You okay, honey?”

“Sure. I’m good.” It was mostly true. “My side of the bed got cold. Sorry to wake you.”

“No worries.” Bodie cracked one eye open. “I hate short-go mornings. Waking up and packing up.”

“Packing. Hm. I don’t want to pack.” He didn’t know what packing meant at this point.

“No. I—I don’t want to sleep alone tonight. Weird?”

He nodded, feeling more relieved than he wanted to admit. But he did, because Bodie had said it first and he wanted to be honest too. “Probably, but I feel the same way.”

“Good deal. Since we got that said, we can make a plan.”

“Where’s the next event?” He had it in his phone, but he couldn’t remember. He never could; he’d always had to have a cheat sheet or put the dates in his phone so he remembered where the heck he was supposed to be. It was one of the perks and the frustrations of working on the road.

“Next week is a bye, so we’re in New Orleans a week from Friday.”

Oh. That was… a lot of time off. “So, if it was just me, I would go home to Boulder.” He sat up on an elbow and looked down at Bodie. “You told me you like Boulder.”

“I love Boulder.” Bodie grinned up at him and winked. “Want a ride, darlin’?”

“That was way too easy. There’s something wrong here. I think my agonize, worry, and angst mode is broken.”

“Maybe you lost it in the arena. You can look this afternoon, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.” Butter wouldn’t melt in Bodie’s mouth.

“Ha. I’d ask to borrow yours, but I don’t think you have one.” Which was fascinating, really. Who didn’t worry about something? Who didn’t wonder about where a relationship was headed? Bodie was so relaxed it was unreal.

“Darlin’, I don’t have time for worrying. I’m just working my butt off and enjoying my man.”

“My man.” He flushed from head to toe, warming up all over. “It sounds so sexy when you say that.”

Bodie beamed for him, hands dragging up along his sides. “I like the way you look at me when you’re wanting.”

“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean.” He batted his eyelashes and grinned.

“You look at me like I’m the hottest thing since sliced bread.” Bodie curled up to steal a hot, happy kiss.

Well, that was the absolute truth. He grinned against Bodie’s lips. “Since burnt toast.”

“Ooh. Burnt toast rocks.” Now Bodie’s eyes were dancing for him. “I can totally do that in the kitchen.”

“You can totally do that in my kitchen. Except you’ll set the fire alarm off. It’s kind of over-sensitive.”

“Good to know. Is that an invite?”

He snorted. “Did you think I was going to make you stay in a hotel?”

“No, but I didn’t want to be rude, either.”

Cowboys. Christ.

“Okay, you’re invited to use my toaster.” He took another quick kiss.

“I will fix your smoke alarm.”

“Ooh. I forgot cowboys are handy. I’ll take you up on that.

” He searched Bodie’s dark eyes, looking for the piece of this that made any sense at all and wondering how Bodie had made him forget that this was entirely unprofessional.

Unprofessional was putting it mildly. It was ethically complicated.

Messy. “I hope you don’t think I make a habit of sleeping with clients. I don’t. I never have before.”

“No. If you had been, we’d have heard. Rocky cared about you a lot, but y’all weren’t a thing.”

“God, no.” He laughed, remembering their close call. “We were close enough friends to be family, but… no. Nope. No way.”

“There you go. He was a good man, a good friend. I liked him a lot.” Simple as that, he guessed.

“All of that. I miss him a lot. He would laugh his ass off at this—you and me.”

“Probably, yeah. We used to be each other’s wingmen. He wouldn’t be shocked.” Bodie winked at him. “I have a type.”

“A type? What is it? Geeky businessman?”

“I like a fine man with a firm ass, sure, but for me, it’s all in the eyes. Kindness is sexy.”

“That’s sweet.” And all those hours at the gym had finally paid off. “I have bad news. You have to be at Ayers’s booth an hour early to sign.”

“Don’t make me pinch you, you slave driver.”

“I know. I’m the worst.” He took another kiss. “My place is small, but it has a great view. I think you’ll like it.”

“I love a good view of the Rockies. I sure do.” Bodie took a long slow kiss.

He relaxed into it, willing to pretend like they didn’t have anywhere to be today. Letting Bodie taste his fill.

Bodie made him feel as if there was nothing else at all in Bodie’s entire world.

He lay back in the pillows and let Bodie come with him, sliding one knee between Bodie’s thighs. “You want breakfast? Do you eat before a short-go?”

“I’d rather be here with you. Right here.” Bodie licked at his lips.

His skin tingled at those words and the look in Bodie’s eyes. He felt like Bodie could see right into him. “Mm. Right here is good.”

“Mmhmm. Right—” Bodie brought their lips together, the kiss deep, solid.

He’d woken up with so many questions, but if there was something Bodie hadn’t already answered, it was going to have to wait. He pulled on Bodie’s shoulders and arched against him, trying not to beg for what he wanted.

Bodie’s lips slid over to his ear. “Mmm… Wanna have pre-event orgasms?”

He started to wonder how Bodie could possibly think otherwise, but then he remembered. Cowboy. Always a gentleman.

This was no time to be a gentleman.

“Yep. Yes. Yes, please.”

“Oh, me too.” Bodie hummed and licked his way south.

“Holy fuck.” Hell yes. He rolled flat and ran a hand over Bodie’s strong shoulders. The man was so solid, all muscle. It made him feel smaller somehow even though he wasn’t.

“Mmhmm. Gonna love on you, pretty man.” Bodie nibbled at his ribs enough to make it sting.

He hissed, toes curling. “Gonna give you as good as I get.”

“Oh… I like when you talk dirty to me.” Bodie’s tongue slid over his abs, hot and wicked.

His belly trembled, shivering under that touch and his balls grew heavy, making him ache. “Evil man.”

“That’s me. So mean.” His cock was taken in, lips fastening around the base of his shaft.

All the air rushed out of his lungs, and it was an effort to suck it back in so he could speak. “Bodie—fuck, man.”

Bodie slid one finger in alongside his cock, wetting it before sliding it against his hole.

Oh Jesus.

He bent a knee, giving Bodie better access, knowing damn well it looked like he was begging.

Fuck, if he was, so what?

Bodie was loving on him, making him need, and he was going to take it.

Bodie groaned as he sucked, that finger sliding in, stroking him nice and slow.

“So good.” He hadn’t ever been a monk, and he knew where to find a man when he wanted one, but this was so much better because he could relax and trust. He let out a low moan and threaded his fingers into Bodie’s hair.

Bodie treated him like he was special, as if there was nothing on earth the cowboy wanted to be doing but making him feel good.

That second finger made him groan, the sound starting somewhere deep, touching a need like he hadn’t felt in a long time. Maybe never. Not like this. He just nodded, hoping Bodie got the message because he couldn’t manage the words.

Bodie was driving him nuts—fingers and mouth maddening, then suddenly those fingers stroked his gland, Bodie’s mouth disappearing long enough to whisper, “Want you.”

“Yes!” He hadn’t meant to shout, but fuck, that set of sparks in his groin, and his vision blurred for a second. He nodded again, swallowing hard. “Yeah. Want that. You. Want to feel you everywhere.”

Bodie crawled up along his body, reaching for the condoms and lube, handing him the slick. “Get yourself ready for me.”

Well, that was kind of wild. “Yes, sir,” he joked, taking the lube and putting some on his fingers. He rolled onto one side and reached back, trying to feel sexy instead of self-conscious, but it wasn’t a problem once he found Bodie was watching.

Fuck, that was hot.

Bodie gloved himself up, eyes focused on him, almost burning with their hunger.

He sat up enough to add a little lube to Bodie’s prick, giving it one long, slow stroke to the root.

Bodie arched, tongue flicking out to wet his lips. “Tell me you’re ready for me.”

Fuck yes. “Please. How do you want me, cowboy?”

“Any way I can get you.” Bodie winked at him and eased him over onto his back, spreading him wide.

“This is good.” Great. Perfect. He bent one knee up and reached for Bodie, fingers sliding over those muscled shoulders.

Bodie nodded and pushed close, cock head nudging against his hole, begging entrance.

Cole pushed his hips up, making it clear that he was so fucking ready for this, and curled his fingers around Bodie’s hips.

Bodie eased forward, rocking in steady, sure little motions, filling him up, deeper and deeper.

He wanted this slow burn, he wanted more, he wanted… fuck, he didn’t know what he wanted. It all felt so good. “You feel good, Bodie. So fucking good.”

“Uh-huh.” Bodie was reduced to grunts and clicks. Impressive.

Impressive and beautiful. The look on Bodie’s face was stunning—the flush and the furrowed brow. He curled up and kissed his cowboy, stealing a little of that hot breath.

Bodie’s gaze was like a fire, digging down into him, making him moan low.

“More, Bodie.” He lay back again and pulled on Bodie’s hips. “I want more.”

“Everything you need.” Bodie pulled almost all the way out, and then he slammed in deep.

He howled and clutched at Bodie, fingers slipping on his cowboy’s sweat-slicked skin. He tried to rock with it, meet Bodie halfway, but damn, the man was fucking strong.

Bodie took him, not a bit of hesitation or worry. Just pure passion. And with that kind of focus, it didn’t take long before he was close, breathing in short shallow gulps. He moved his hand to his cock and swiped his thumb over the head. “Bodie… close, fuck.”

“Mmhmm. Close. Come for me, lover. I want to feel it all around me.” Bodie’s voice was pure growl.

“Yeah.” Cole stroked himself firmly a couple of times, then shuddered as he shot, Bodie’s cock feeling huge as he tightened around it.

That had Bodie slamming into him, driving in a few rhythmless jerks before stilling, lips parted as he came.

“Beautiful.” He pulled Bodie into a breathless kiss, then collapsed back into the pillows with a groan.

“Uhn.” Bodie slipped free from him and got rid of the condom before cuddling back in next to him. “Mmm… so good.”

He shifted and rested his head on Bodie’s arm. “You’re… wow.” Words were hard.

“Uh-huh. You too. Wow.”

He stretched an arm over Bodie’s ribs and chuckled, and that dissolved into a laugh. “Me Tarzan.”

“Mmm… I’ll be Jane next time.”

Nope, there was no holding in the laughter now. He shoved at Bodie’s hip and leaned up for a giggling kiss. “That was pretty good for hormone brain.”

Bodie winked at him. “I’m a brilliant cowboy. Yee haw.”

“Seriously.” He looked into those deep, dark eyes again. “That was amazing. Thank you.”

“Thank you. I feel melted, bone deep.”

“Mm. Mhm.” He settled again and sighed.

They could lie here a bit, and then he’d pull his bull rider into the shower and make sure he was pumped up for his next ride.
