Chapter 21

Cole woke up early. The sun came up on their side of the hotel, and it was streaming through a gap in the curtains, lighting up the room. He had an arm over his cowboy, and Bodie was pressed against him, breathing steadily.

It had been that kind of night. They’d fooled around, sure, but mostly it seemed like Bodie had wanted just to be close like he had, in reassuring contact all night long.

His cowboy hadn’t complained, but Cole knew his lover had been bothered by the whole situation with the attacker, the teenager.

He tucked his arm tighter, hoping he was what Bodie needed. It wasn’t very often he saw Bodie upset, and even in those few times, Bodie tended to hide it if he could.

Bodie sighed and wrapped around him. “You okay?”

He didn’t think Bodie was even awake yet.

“Mm. Mhm. I’m good. I just woke up. I was thinking about you.” He kissed Bodie’s temple. “I thought you were sleeping.”

“Uh-huh. Me too.”

He grinned. That was almost coherent.

“It looks like a beautiful day. That’s promising.” Bodie was warm and heavy, still sleepy. He always seemed younger when he was asleep.

“Good. Need a good day. Want to head out after the event. Don’t want to stay.”

“Okay. We can get on the road to… uh. I forget, but wherever.” He needed coffee.

“Yeah. Me too. Wherever.” Bodie kissed him under his jaw. “Wanna room service up coffee?”

“Yes. Yes I do.” He reached out for the phone, patting the nightstand, and as soon as he did, Bodie nibbled on his nipple, making him jerk.

“Bad cowboy. Also good cowboy.” He ruffled Bodie’s hair playfully.

“Uh-huh. I’ve heard that about me.” Bodie’s hand wrapped around his hip and pulled him closer. “Coffee.”

“Are you going to leave me alone long enough to make the call?” He snorted and reached for the phone again, punching zero.

“Nope. Not a chance.” Bodie chuckled at him, nibbling at his collarbone.

“Hello. Could you have—” He shrugged his shoulders, trying to hold Bodie off, but Bodie just nipped at his shoulder instead. “Coffee? Room service? Just coffee.”

“For how many, sir?”

Now Bodie was licking at this neck.

“T—two. Bo—” He wiggled and couldn’t get away. “Just two. Bring a pot. Thanks, bye.” He tossed the receiver at the cradle. “Bo, you’re the worst.” He laughed and leaned into his cowboy.

“Or the best, right?” Bodie glanced up at him and winked, lapping at his lips, teasing him. “The very best.”

“The absolute best bad cowboy.” He chuckled, reaching back to give Bodie a pinch.

Bodie snorted and dove into a kiss, curling his toes and proving that he wasn’t alone in needing.

He moaned and gave right in, there was no reason not to, the short-go was hours away yet. He curled an arm over Bodie’s back and tangled their legs together.

Bodie had him, the kiss going deep now, demanding. He had to admit that he loved how focused his cowboy was, how hungry.

Bodie could have anything he wanted.

He let Bodie’s tongue push past his lips and spread, bending one knee wide.

Bodie began to roll his hips, slowly pushing and dragging their cocks together. His nerves were firing with the sensations Bodie drew from him.

He sucked in a breath. “You are pure fire when you want to be, babe.”

“I want to be.” Bodie stared down at him, eyes glinting in the sunlight. “You inspire me.”

He didn’t know what to say to that, but it warmed him up deep inside. “No one’s ever told me that before.” He rolled his hips up to meet Bodie’s, giving his lover more to feel.

“No one else has any sense. I know how amazing you are.” Bodie’s hips moved faster, slapping them together.

He hung on to Bodie’s strong body, trembling as he tried to breathe, and everything but the two of them disappeared.

Bodie groaned, a dull flush climbing up his chest to his neck. “Soon, honey.”

“Uh-huh.” He nodded a bunch of times. He was fucking desperate. “Yeah. S—soon.” Maybe now. Definitely now. “Babe—”

“Yes!” Heat sprayed over his cock, his belly, Bodie giving it up to him.

His body followed as if Bodie were a trigger, and he shot, his scent mixing with his lover’s, the two of them gulping air and trembling together.

“Fuck, that was… good morning.” Bodie kissed his chin.

“Uh-huh. Good. I mean, good morning.” He grinned and laughed softly at the loud knock at the door. “Oh. Coffee.” He wasn’t going anywhere; he had a cowboy lying on him.

“Uh-huh. Leave it, please!” Bodie hollered over his shoulder, then murmured. “I’ll grab it in a sec, I cain’t move.”

“Nope. No moving. You’re good right where you are.” He curled his arms around Bodie’s shoulders to make his point. “Fuck, starting the day off with you is the best thing ever.”

“Yessir. I love this. Want it like breathing.” Bodie kissed his chin.

“And I have to say, staying in these suites on the league doesn’t suck.”

“No shit on that.” Bodie gave him a quick wink. “I should get the coffee, huh?”

“We can’t always do what we should do.” He grinned and gave Bodie a squeeze. “But if you insist.”

“Coffee is a harsh taskmaster, honey. He lets you know if you don’t give him his due.” Bodie’s wink was pure naughtiness.

“The headache is real.” He let Bodie go, but not before he took a quick kiss. “I appreciate you taking one for the team.”

“Mmhmm.” Bodie hopped up and wiped himself up, tossing him a damp towel before throwing on a pair of pajama pants and getting the tray of coffee, showing off his sweet ass.

He laughed at the towel but used it anyway, dropping it in a garbage can by the bed when he was done cleaning up. “My spunk, your spunk… so sticky.” He felt kind of gleeful about the whole thing.

“Yep, that’s what happens. We’re like epoxy, together we’re sticky.”

He snorted. “Shut up and give me my coffee.” He should get up and shower, look at his email, make sure Bodie’s appearances were all set for next week, but all he wanted to do was watch Bodie. Talk to Bodie. Be with Bodie.

Being in love was not great for business.

Bodie poured him a cup of coffee, doctored it up, and handed it over to him with a wink. “Here you go, grumpy.”

He took a sip, letting it warm him up. “I’m not grumpy. I just don’t want to be a grownup today.”

“So don’t.”

“What?”

“Don’t be. Shit, I got no signing today. I’ll ride real quick, and we’ll get on the road. Easy peasy.” Bodie winked at him.

“Yeah? I guess my email can wait until tomorrow. I’m in. I still have to put pants on though. I’m not missing your ride.” He didn’t always stay to watch clients ride. He used to miss Rocky’s rides all the time. But if Bodie was riding, he was going to be there. This was different.

He needed to be there, just in case of an emergency.

Not that there was going to be an emergency, but if there were one and he wasn’t there… not worth thinking about. He was going to be there.

He sipped his coffee. “Did you remember where we’re headed next?”

“New Orleans. We’ll be hot and drunk and having a ball.” Bodie wriggled, doing a goofy little dance. “Eating barbecue shrimp.”

“Very few calories in shrimp.” He grinned. “Sounds more like a vacation than an event.”

“I love New Orleans. I love the music, the bars, the ghost tours—I love it all.”

“You do? I usually skip that event.” So many people, so loud, so much alcohol, all kinds of reasons. He sipped his coffee. It was pretty good for hotel fare. “I guess you can show me around.”

“We’ll have a ball. We can be just dudes in a fun city.” Bodie kissed him hard, the excitement catching.

He was definitely looking forward to it now. He slid out of bed. “I’m in. Come shower, babe. There’s a bull calling your name.”

“Yep, and then there’s a road trip and a hotel that’s not here.”

“We are expert road trippers.” He’d never had so much fun driving. They sang, talked, hunted for weird things to see, ate in weird little places along the way.

“We are. I love being with you, you know. Traveling and seeing things with you.”

He heard that, and some day when Bodie retired, he’d make sure they traveled often.

Some day. But right now, they were focused on today. One bull, maybe two, then they were on the road again.
