Chapter 41 Sierra
FORTY-ONE
SIERRA
SIX MONTHS LATER
Kai eyeballs me, nodding at my finger.
“Is that a tattoo?”
I glance down at my ring finger with a smirk.
“Maybe.”
Kai peers closer, his eyes widening.
“Is that a ‘C’?”
Crane carries the pizzas in from the car, kicking the door shut behind him.
“Okay, pizza, champagne…”
“Why has my sister got your initial on her wedding finger?”
Crane stops, rolling his eyes at me as I try to hide it.
“Too late, Sierra,” Kai says with a laugh of disbelief. “Is this how you guys label relationships now? Let me see yours.”
Crane places the boxes on the table before striding over, giving me a wink that melts my insides. His t-shirt clings to him, and I know it’s extra-large. He’s hench.
“Stop licking your lips, man, you’re sitting with your brother and his wife,” Lorena says, leaning over me to grab Crane’s hand.
“Holy shit, he’s got one too!”
Crane’s eyes twinkle with amusement as he chuckles.
“You got me.”
Kai turns to me, his mouth dropping open. “Hang the fuck on…”
“We got married,” I sing, clapping my hands together as Lorena almost falls over.
“What?” Kai and Lorena say in unison, staring at the two of us in surprise. “When?”
“The fourteenth,” I answer sheepishly as Crane drops down beside me, handing me a glass of champagne.
Lorena stares at us, her words getting twisted in her throat.
“A week after us?”
I nod, and Crane gazes at Kai, who looks mighty pissed off.
“You got married without me?”
“Actually, bro, we got married with two witnesses we’d never met in our lives.” Crane grins down at me. “It’s how we wanted it, nothing big or flashy.”
I nod in agreement. “We didn’t want to wait any longer, and we didn’t want to steal your thunder.”
Lorena blinks, a smile erupting over her face.
“Congratulations!”
“Yeah, congratulations, fuckers,” Kai mutters, lifting his champagne glass to clink with mine. “But I’m not gonna forget that in a hurry.”
“Lorena?” I say, offering her a glass of champagne.
She shakes her head, biting her lip as I frown at her. “What? You don’t want to toast us?” I pout as she giggles.
“No, it’s just…”
“We’re having a baby,” Kai roars, holding his arms out as I choke on my drink.
“Oh my god! I’m going to be an aunty!” I scream, launching myself at the happy couple.
Lorena gasps with laughter as I cuddle her, kissing her all over her face.
“Is that why you’re not too mad with us?” Crane punches Kai on the arm, dragging him into a headlock. “You had your own secret!”
The four of us laugh, and my eyes sting with emotion.
My husband and my brother laugh and play fight as Lorena watches them with adoration, a hand laying protectively over her stomach.
I gaze down at my own stomach, wondering when I’ll be carrying a mini us.
Crane catches my eye and gives me a knowing look.
Challenge accepted.
