13. Caleb

THIRTEEN

Caleb

The sun found its way through a crack in the blackout drapes. Shit. What time was it? My entire body was sore, and I felt the slice of pain run across my cheek. For a split second, I had forgotten about yesterday.

Margot was securely nuzzled against my body. I ran my fingers up and down her back along the silkiness of her skin. It was hard to keep my hands off her, but I didn’t wake her either. She needed the sleep as much as I did.

I didn’t know what time it was when we finally fell asleep. It didn’t matter. Nothing did except for how we connected last night.

She began to stir against my shoulder.

“What time is it?” she asked.

“Did I wake you up?” I should have let her sleep.

She smiled, pushing up on my chest. “No. I was dreaming, I think.”

I felt slightly better. “It’s strange no one from the base has called or knocked.”

“Maybe it’s not as late as we think it is,” she mused. She kissed my cheek.

“I don’t know. Do you want me to check?” I volunteered.

“Not if it means you have to move.” She cuddled up closer, if that was even possible. “I want to stay like this for a little bit longer.” She sighed.

“I won’t move. Not a single muscle.”

She laughed. Her hand coasted over my chest and below the sheet. I groaned when her palm grazed against my cock. “Are you sure about that?”

“You have always been able to change my mind.”

“I like changing it like this.” She grinned. Then she rotated and her eyes widened. “Oh no. Your face. It’s bleeding again.”

“Shit.” I jumped out of bed and hurried to the mirror.

There was blood running from the bandage. The doc mentioned it might take a few days to clot. Face wounds had a way of being sensitive to any and every movement. He might have warned me about activity last night. I had ignored all his warnings and taken Margot every way possible in my bed. I had no regrets.

She padded up behind me. The warmth of her naked body pressed into my back.

“Let me look at it. I can help,” she offered.

I was reluctant to let her see it. I pivoted toward her. My eyes darted toward her perked breasts. I gently cupped one in my hand while she removed the face tape from under my eye.

“I need you to focus while I do this,” she lectured.

“No. You need to focus. This is distracting me from the pain.” My thumb brushed her nipple.

She pinched her lips together, exasperated with me. “Are you in that much pain? Didn’t they give you any pain meds?” She lifted the second piece of tape. It tugged against my skin as if it were tearing it away from the bone.

I needed more distraction. I cupped my hand between her legs.

“Caleb,” she whispered.

“You do that. I’ll do this. We’ll both be happy.”

I slid my finger along her clit, working a line back and forth to her entrance.

She held a clean washcloth to my face to stop the bleeding. Her mouth opened slightly. God, she was fucking sexy. My finger pushed all the way in. She dabbed at my face.

“There,” she whispered. “I think the bleeding stopped.”

I grinned. “I didn’t feel a thing.” I lowered my lips to her breast.

“Caleb.” She pushed against my shoulders. “We need to get more bandages and…”

“Shh.” I tugged her back to bed. “I’m fine. It’s just a scratch.”

“You haven’t said how you got the scratch.” She climbed in the bed and I climbed right behind her. My body aligned against her back.

“I can tell you about it later, Margot. Not now. Not when I want you.”

She twisted around on the bed to face me. Her eyes met mine. “You didn’t say what happened last night. Don’t you want to talk about it?”

I nodded, kissing her collarbone and the base of her throat. “But this first. Okay?”

She whimpered when I spread her legs and settled between them. I took her wrists over her head. I pushed my swollen shaft inside her. Her back arched off the mattress.

“Oh shit,” she whispered.

I wanted to unleash everything inside her. I felt my most primal side awaken as I thrust into her again. Her hair splayed on my pillow. Her fingers clasped around the bed frame for support. Her gorgeous body so giving and ready. I lost my damn mind every time I was inside her. I rooted deeper, loving her until I grunted, dripping with sweat.

She started to quiver and shake. Her walls gripped my cock in rapid succession. There was no holding back. She panted and her eyes opened. She saw me. All of me. The pain. The love. The healing I still had to do. I’d never loved anyone like this. Not like Margot. It was the reason I’d never gotten her out of my head for seven years. Why I hadn’t gotten attached. Hadn’t committed to anyone else. She was always in my head.

“Caleb,” she begged.

I wanted to come with her. I exploded with fierce power, my orgasm so intense I lost my breath. The shocks started in my spine and reverberated through my body like a damn tidal wave. I clutched the sides of the bed and lowered myself to her body. My lips swept over hers.

She sighed, running her fingers through my hair. I had to be careful to tilt my head to the side that wasn’t cut to rest on her breast.

Her heart beat rapidly. With each swell of her chest, I could hear it start to slow to a normal pace. Our fingers laced together.

“What will you have to do today?” she asked. “About everything?”

My body still hadn’t calmed. I pushed up with my palms planted on either side of her. “I have to do a lot of paperwork. I have to fill out more than one incident report. I’m going to have to talk to the sheriff.”

She bit her lip. “I don’t want to push you. I don’t, but are you okay? Really?”

“Yeah. Yeah. I’m good.” I moved to the side of the bed. “I’m going to get in the shower and then call and see how Gabe is doing.”

She sat forward, letting the sheet fall to the side of her hips. I smirked at the tiny hickey on the inside of her upper thigh. I believed I had given her that when we were in the shower. I had been so hellbent on sex since last night we had forgone condoms. I was being reckless. We hadn’t talked about it.

“Breakfast after, though?” I asked, hopping to my feet. “You want some breakfast?”

I marched to the bathroom.

“Caleb, wait. I think we should talk about a few things.”

I hovered in the doorway. “Yeah, sure. Let me shower and see if I have another bandage for my face. Then food. I know you’re starving too. You never turn down bacon.”

She smiled. “No, I don’t.”

“Okay. Give me a few minutes.” I closed the door and turned on the shower.
