MORGAN

“Why are all men trash? What’s so hard about communicating?” I groan before I take another bite of ice cream.

Quinn snickers, and I glare at the screen I have propped up.

“Babe, he did communicate. Said he’ll be busy.”

I groan. “I know that, but then he flirted with me, and then just stopped answering all together. That’s weird. You can’t tell me that’s not weird.” I point the spoon at her.

She shrugs, her face popping in and out of the screen as she folds her towels. “A little, but honestly, Morgan, you seem a little more upset than normal. Most days I’m lucky to catch you at the right time, and yet you’re waiting by the phone for him to respond?”

I frown, putting my ice cream down on the table. “You’re right. I’m being embarrassingly needy. I just want to cry over everything, and my boobs are so sensitive that they hurt.”

Quinn gasps. “Morgan, take a test right now.”

My eyes widen. “No.” It’s not possible.

I mean it is soooo possible. The last time I tested, my period came a day or two later, but it’s not like I’ve been celibate since then. So far from celibate to be fair. “Oh god. I need to take a test.”

“Right now. I better hear that piss in the toilet in the next minute or I’m booking a flight immediately.”

I grab my ice cream and my phone, putting one in the freezer and taking the other into the bathroom with me.

My heart pounds loudly as I unwrap the test and pee on it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m pregnant.

I feel like Creed and I were disappointed the first time it came out negative, but that’s crazy to think. We shouldn’t want to get pregnant.

“You okay, babes? Awfully quiet,” my best friend asks.

I laugh a little, setting the test on the counter and washing my hands. “No, I feel a little insane. Like what is life right now?”

Quinn taps her screen until I look at her. She raises her eyebrow. “Breathe. You’re about to do that spiraling thing again.”

I do what she says, drawing in air deeply and blowing it out. Then I glance back at the test, the lines already clear as a sunny day. Holy fuck.

Pregnant.

“Oh my god.”

I’m pregnant.

I’m pregnant with a biker’s baby.

With Creed’s baby.

She hums. “It’s positive, isn’t it?”

Tears blur my vision, and I gulp in large breaths of air. “I’m so screwed.”

My best friend sighs. “On what front? You’re an adult living by yourself with a job, and there’s plenty of options if you don’t want it. But I’m pretty sure you want it.”

I blink, focusing on calming my breaths and soaking in her words. I wipe away the fallen tears. “You’re right. Jesus. I panicked there for a second.”

She snorts. “What else are best friends for if not to bring you back to reality when you’re acting a little crazy? Now that you’re back, can I just say…BITCH WHAT THE FUCK? How do you manage to get knocked up by a sexy biker?”

I bite my lip. “We haven’t exactly been safe, and I keep losing my birth control.”

Quinn sucks in a breath. “Morgan!”

“We got Plan B! Oh my god. Does that make it less effective?” Wait, did we? I’m pretty sure we did. I remember mentioning it.

“No, it’s not the amount of cum that’s dumped in you, it’s when! Three weeks ago we were ovulating! And like a feral bitch in heat, your womb just sucked it right up.”

I grimace. “You are so vulgar sometimes.”

“Don’t get all haughty with me right now. You didn’t tell me you two have been fucking like animals! I’m offended. I told you when that one guy kept poking me in the taint and I had to push him onto his back. What happened to the bestie code?”

Her rant forces a laugh from me and I sniff, needing that moment to break up the tension. “Honestly, it doesn’t seem real. Like the last few weeks flew by with ease, and I rarely even thought about my job or my dad, everything was just him.”

Quinn hums. “And now you’re pregnant. I’ve never known you to be so careless. What is it about this guy?”

She’s not being judgmental; I know she’s not. Quinn and I have been through it all. I think she’s concerned, considering I’ve planned everything in my life down to the minute. And yet…it’s been weeks, months, of just flying by the seat of my pants, his motorcycle seat to be honest.

“I don’t know.” It comes out barely more than a whisper.

She sighs. “Well, take a day to yourself. Then tell him. And then Auntie Quinn is setting up a very long baby registry and coming to visit and throw the baby shower.”

I can’t hold back my smile. “I just found out I’m pregnant, and you already want to plan the shower?”

“Uh, duh. Also, you better tell this man that I’ll be at the birth.”

Laughing, I move back to the living room, rubbing my belly. I suddenly feel less alone. “I’m going to have a baby.”
