18. Morgan
MORGAN
“What’re your plans tonight?”
I frown, looking over at him. “I thought we were eating pizza and watching that new reality show.”
He smirks. “We could…or we could go for a long ride.” Creed pulls out the keys to his bike.
I bite down on my lip, desperately tempted, but unsure in my condition. A condition he isn’t even aware of. “I have to tell you something.”
His hand drops, his face hardening as he stares at me warily.
I move closer to him, rubbing a hand down his chest. “I don’t know if I can ride because…I think I’m pregnant.”
My heart moves in double time as I watch his face and continue, “I still need to confirm with the doctor, but I took a test the other day and it was positive.”
His arms wrap around me, and then his lips are crashing to mine with brutal passion. His hand comes down to cup my flat belly before he pulls away to look down at me.
“For real this time?”
I smile, nodding. “I think so.”
He grins wider. “Hell fucking yeah! You should be able to ride if you want, but I can tell the guys to fuck off if you don’t want to.” Creed kisses me again, and I melt into his body.
“It would be with your whole club?”
He hums into my lips, kissing down my jaw.
I’ve only met a few members in passing, and I desperately want them to like me, but I know who I am and why they would be wary.
“And they want me to come?”
“They insisted.”
I frown. “Why?”
Creed laughs, kissing the tip of my curled mouth. “Because they know you’re mine, and they want to get to know you.”
I should hate the way he talks about me, that I’m his. So barbaric, but I don’t hate it at all. I smile at him. “Okay. Wait, shoot, I have to find jeans that won’t fit too tight.”
He kisses my nose. “Wear that blue polka dot dress, I’ve been wanting to see you in it. We’ll get you some new ones after. We’re going for a chill ride, slow and as a group, none of us are messing around.”
I trust that he’ll keep me safe, so I agree to it. My nerves work overtime as he gets me on his bike after getting ready, and we take off in the direction of their clubhouse.
I hug him tighter, resting my cheek on his back. The wind whips around us, and I smile as another bike revs forward, shooting past us. I don’t recognize all the names or faces yet to know who is who, but the longer we ride, the more I get it.
I get how people love this, how we feel like a whole group moving as one.
I’ve never felt so included, and it feels even more magical with the sunshine on our skin and the smell and sounds of the ocean to our side.
The long shot of PCH from our town toward Orange County is the perfect road for this kind of drive.
They pull off into one of the small parking lots, filling up nearly half of it.
I climb off, stretching out my legs and back as I watch the rest of the women do the same.
There’s only a few of us, and a sense of importance wiggles into my heart as I realize the women have jackets that claim them as their bikers’ property.
“Some of the clubwh—girls, and all the old ladies,” Creed whispers in my ear, seeing where I’m looking.
I look up at him. “And me?”
His eyebrow raises and he brushes a kiss on my lips. “You’re the one who wanted to keep us a secret.”
I roll my eyes. “You’re saying that if I said okay, you’d want to make me your old lady?”
His hand moves to my stomach. “Yes. And not because you’re pregnant, but because you’re mine. That already makes you my old lady in my eyes.”
When I look back, a woman is stomping toward us, so I straighten my back. Her determination makes me wary as she comes up, flicking her long dark hair over her shoulder and holding out her hand for me.
“Hi, I’m Mikayla, Gage’s old lady. I heard Creed is keeping you hidden. Have you met Bri?” She puts her hand on her hip, giving the man next to me an incredulous look.
I stifle my grin, liking her already. “Morgan, and I’ve actually kept him hidden.” I rub my hand over his side and keep my embarrassing tantrum over seeing Bri at the restaurant to myself.
Her eyebrows shoot up. “No shit. Wait, back to Bri—”
A large man slings his arm over her shoulders, pulling her into his chest. “You’re not causing trouble, are you?” My eyes fall on his president patch and I swallow the nerves sneaking back in.
“When is she not?” Creed drawls.
Mikayla glowers. “I am not. I’m simply inquiring about Creed’s new woman. I rarely leave the house, and suddenly Bri is out, Morgan is in.”
“Bri has never been in,” another man mutters as he walks past us, his bald head shaking before another woman saunters up to him, her ass nearly falling out of her shorts. He hooks his arm around her shoulders, and they walk closer to the shoreline.
Gage sighs, giving me a soft smile. “Don’t mind her mouth. She lost the very few manners she had after she gave birth to our son.”
She swings her arm, hitting him in the stomach.
Gage folds with a laugh and Mikayla slips under his arms with a malicious grin.
She fixes her hair and turns back to me and Creed.
She points a finger into his chest. “I hope you ended it amicably. Bri was friends with Talia’s older sister.
She’s got a nasty streak, and Morgan seems like a sweetheart. ”
Creed holds me a little tighter. “Morgan knows how to use a gun.”
Mikayla turns to me. “Oh shit. That’s right, you’re the cop.” My heart jumps as nearly every man wearing the motorcycle club cut turns and looks at me.
“And I told Bri that I was done,” he adds.
I lean back into his chest for a sense of comfort and safety.
“Thanks for double-checking though. It’s sweet,” I say, staring at her warmly. She reminds me a bit of Quinn, the overly concerned friend who also spits out facts with a refreshing bluntness.
She scoffs. “Us women have to stick together. I’ve known most of these jackasses my whole life.
They never know the good thing they got going for them until it’s almost going to shit.
Isn’t that right, Autumn?” Mikayla calls out, looking over her shoulder at a bubbly blonde with flushed cheeks. The biker holding her flips us off.
Creed and Gage snicker.
“Come on, trouble. Let’s all enjoy our day,” Gage says, tugging her toward the beach. I watch them with a smile until Creed’s hand flexes on my side.
“Want to go to the shore or stay here to take a moment for just us?”
His eyebrows wiggle when I look up at him. I smile, biting down on my bottom lip.
“A moment for us, always.”
He nods toward his bike, and we climb back on before he leads us to a different spot from everyone else.
