Chapter 18 #2
“But yours didn’t. Your feelings are hurt over something you just made up.
” I laugh at her. She’s complete chaos, and I love it.
She always has been. We were, and still are, inseparable.
In school, we were known as the dynamic duo, and teachers knew we could never be in class together.
One year in tenth grade, they accidentally put us in the same chemistry class and so, of course, we partnered up.
Almost set the school on fire. But to be fair, the gas line was faulty.
At least that’s the story we’re sticking to.
We order our salads and find a table in the corner. “So?” she asks.
I roll my eyes, both excited and not excited to tell her. I don’t want her getting her hopes up about this relationship since it won’t last very long. Maybe it’s just what I need, though. The hump I need to get over so I can get back out there. Literal and figurative hump.
But this hump is going to break me for all future humps. Gahh!
She clears her throat, bringing me back.
“So after we left, he was planning on taking me back to my house, but then we got to talking, then he—”
Lizzy has a forkful of salad in her mouth, frozen, but she motions for me to continue with her other hand.
My eyes get big and my head bobbles from side to side.
She pulls the fork out and taps the table. “In the back seat of his car? Where was the driver? You didn’t do it in front of him, did you?”
Her question about the driver told me there’s no way I could ever tell her about the situation with the other three guys…
even if I could. She joked about it before, but that’s when it was only a joke and not for real.
“He was standing outside on the sidewalk.” My mouth pulls to the side as my stomach tightens, remembering the start of my wild night.
“Callum was just like yo dude, park right here while I have my dessert? Go wait outside in the frigid cold?”
“Not quite like that, but kind of.”
“So you.” She props her arm on the table, leans across and pumps her eyebrows again. “While people were walking down the street?”
I nod, taking a bite of food, knowing it won’t hide the blush from my cheeks.
“Kinky.”
She plops back in her seat and takes another bite of food. “Continue,” she says in a very diplomatic voice, waving her hand like the Queen would.
I’m smiling so much my cheeks hurt. “So then he surprised me and took me ice skating.”
My phone dings.
Callum.
Callum: Where are you?
Everlee: Salad Shop eating lunch.
I answer without thinking, then put my phone back on my lap. I wasn’t mad at him, but I was a little irritated about the whole bubble incident earlier.
“But you weren’t in the clothes for that.”
I shake my head so I can focus on Lizzy. “I know… so he bought me some and then…” My head face-plants into my palm.
“No,” Lizzy says, grabbing her salad bowl up under her chin and stuffing her mouth full like a kid would do with a bowl of popcorn in a movie theater.
I nod. “Again, in the changing room.”
Her fork drops into her bowl, and she stares at me wide-eyed.
“But he didn’t let me finish.”
“That bastard.”
“Right.” I laugh. “So I took my panties off and, when he wasn’t paying attention, I stuffed them in his pocket.”
“Oh my God. Who are you, Queen, and what have you done with my Everlee?”
“I’m still me.”
“Well, you also did more exhibitionistic things last night than you ever have before.”
If she only knew. But she can’t. A flashback of me riding Callum’s cock on the bed with the others watching as I played with my clit has me blushing again.
“Girl, do we need to get you a fan, because damn?” She flaps her hands wildly at me.
“Stop.”
“So then. Please tell me you got to tickle the pickle after all that. You needed it, after all.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
She bats her hand. “Girl, you know. Now stop procrastinating and get to the good part.”
“After skating, he took me home where we… you know.”
“That’s it? That’s all I get?”
“Fine. He had another snack in the shower.”
Lizzy smacks the table loudly. “Three!” She lowers her voice. “Three times? I’m going to call him the Cookie Monster. Shit! Nom, nom, nom is the name of the game with him.”
“Well, we went back and forth, and then we went to the bedroom.” Where three other guys watched, I want to say, but don’t.
“Let me guess? Nom Nom?”
“Yes, and then bang bang.” I shake my head again. It always sounds stupid when I try to come up with cutesy little names for things.
“Big?”
“Huge. I’m so sore today.”
“Wow,” she breathes, looking into the air.
“But then after, he ran us a bath and washed me.”
Lizzy’s head hits the table with a dramatic thump. Given her outburst and flailing around, I’m fairly certain people in the shop are concerned with my safety.
“Everything okay over here?” A voice booms behind me at the same time I feel a hand brush across my shoulder and a tingle shoot up my spine.
Lizzy tilts her head up so her chin is resting on the table, and once she sees who it is, curses out a string of expletives and sits up.
Callum is standing just behind me, and I feel his gaze burning into the back of my head.
“What are you doing here?”
“Everlee? Don’t ask the man that. Offer to pull up a chair for him.”
Poor Lizzy. She’s already invested in my relationship with a man I’d only be with for a few more days. The pain at that realization stings pretty badly.
His brow furrows as he studies my face. “Are you okay?” His knuckles brush across my cheek.
Lizzy lets out a loud sigh and looks like she’s been love struck with Cupid’s arrow.
“I’m good.” My lips flatten. We both know I’m not doing a good job of hiding anything, and he can probably make two guesses to figure out what’s wrong.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt your lunch. I just wanted to say hello.”
With a furrowed brow, I stare at him.
“You aren’t interrupting. We’re just getting caught up on girl chat.”
“I’m sure that’s what you’re doing.” His eyes twinkle knowingly.
I shoot him an unmistakable look for ‘I-told-you-so’.
“I’m going to grab a bite to eat, but I’d like to talk to you for a minute before you go back to work.”
“I’m sure you would… nom nom.” Lizzy mumbles as he walks away.
Slapping her hand on the table, I shoot daggers at her, but she shrugs it off.
“What? I’m sorry. Not really.”
I don’t know if Callum heard her, but if he did, he doesn’t react. I’m sure I’d hear some snarky comment later, and the thought of that fills me with more excitement and trepidation than I want.
“Man can wear a suit. Who would have thought a businessman like him would have a little freak to him?” Lizzy says when he walks away.
I want to tell her about all the tattoos and everything else, but I can’t. Tattoos may not be an issue, but I want to keep that to myself. He’s worked hard on maintaining his image outside of the house, and I don’t want to spoil it. If he reveals that to her, then so be it.
