I growled out my frustration, scanning the approaching horde. There were seconds to spare, the biters almost upon us. They left me no time to sniff out our shooter, to think about anything other than escape.
Not how I wanted the morning to go.
“Oh. My. Stars,” the fae in my arms breathed.
He’s hurt because of me…
Only one way out now.
Without hesitation, I charged for the river, leaping over the wall.
