And So.

AND SO…

George had never seen her twin happier or more completely in her element. Cece truly believed in the mission of her charity and handled the questions and comments from many of the titled guests with a confidence she’d not demonstrated before.

What pleased George even more was the way Salcombe looked at his bride-to-be. He’d proudly announced to the assembled company that Celeste had agreed to marry him. Someone in the crowd had called out, “The Dragon had finally been tamed.”

Salcombe had readily agreed… and George couldn’t help but feel a touch envious of her twin. It would be lovely to have a man as handsome and generous adore her, too.

At that moment, one of the duke’s footmen approached her.

He was holding a small silver salver, carrying it carefully as he avoided one of the guests’ elbows that came back suddenly.

She waited for him, knowing deep in her bones what was about to happen.

After all, she had seen this scene play out for her sister Honoria and for Celeste.

“Lady Georgiana?”

“Yes.”

He held out a silver tray holding a single red envelope. Her father’s task for her.

“My turn,” she murmured, reaching for the envelope.

“I beg your pardon, my lady?”

George shook her head and broke the wax seal.
