2. Chapter One

Can you pass me the pink, please? Janie asked Charlotte. She had been coloring in everything else while Charlotte used the pink crayon. But there was nothing else to color in on her picture. And the flower had to be pink.

Im using it, Charlotte mumbled as she colored with the blue crayon.

No, you arent. You havent for the past couple of minutes, Janie said. Can I please use it to color in my flower? Then you can have it back.

Im using it, she snapped. Cant you see that?

Anger bubbled inside of Janie as she stared at Charlotte. She wasnt using it at all. Please? Janie asked nicely again.

Echo and Monroe looked between the two, but Janie didnt mind them. There wasnt any other pink besides that one and Janie really wanted to use it.

Color your flower something different, Charlotte said.

Pink is my favorite color and it has to be pink, Janie tried to reason with her. But it was getting her nowhere.

Why dont you just give the pink crayon to Janie for a little bit. Youre currently using the blue one right now, Echo said. But Charlotte didnt pay any attention to them.

Pick a different color, Charlotte said. Im using the pink.

Janie attempted to take a deep breath in to calm herself down but it didnt do anything. Give it to me! Janie raised her voice. You arent using it! Charlotte glared at her and held onto the pink crayon. Why was she being so unfair? She wasnt even using it.

Before Janie could stop herself, she found her fingers wrapped around Charlottes hair. Give it to me! Janie yelled.

Charlotte screamed as Janie pulled on her hair again. Maybe now she would give her the pink crayon she nicely asked for. Was this wrong of Janie to do it? Sure, but Charlotte had it coming. She wouldnt give her the pink crayon she wasnt using. It wasnt fair. Charlotte continued to scream as Janie pulled her hair again.

A hand wraps around hers and tries to pry her fingers away from Charlottes hair. Let the hair go, Mac said. But Janie didnt do that. She wanted the pink crayon.

No! Janie yelled.

Jane, now. Her fingers let loose a little, just enough that Mac could get the hair from her fingers.

Youre coming with me, Mac said. Janie looked over her shoulder as Mac dragged her across the room. Monroe and Echo were looking at Charlotte and her. Finn was currently walking Charlotte over to the opposite corner of the room.

Do you want to tell me what that was all about? Mac asked as he stood in front of her.

Janie wanted to see if Charlotte was getting in trouble for what she had done. It wasnt fair and she shouldnt have withheld the pink crayon from anyone. She tried to peek her head around Macs body, but he wouldnt allow that.

Eyes. Now, he said. Her eyes found his and she could see the satisfaction in his eyes.

Now, why did you yell and pull Charlottes hair? Mac asked. And dont you dare lie to me. Unless you want your punishment to be worse.

Her mouth fell open. She was going to get in trouble for that? Charlotte was the one that started it.

Dont look so shocked. What you did was wrong, Mac said. Now tell me why you did it.

She was being mean, Janie whispered. Mac stayed silent. Did he hear her? She wouldnt hand over the pink crayon when she wasnt even using it, Janie softly spoke, louder than before.

She had realized that she made a scene earlier. Janie wasnt thinking about it at the time, but she had. People were looking at them. Thankfully, most of them had gone back to what they were doing before. Or well, the ones she could see through her peripherals. Janie couldnt really see around Macs body much.

Did you ask nicely? Mac asked.

Of course, I did, she replied. Several times. Ask Monroe and Echo! They were there!

Mac sighed and grabbed her shoulder. He knelt down in front of her. But that doesnt give you the excuse to yell or pull her hair, Mac said.

Janie didnt think he was right this time. it definitely wasnt warranted that Charlotte was keeping the pink crayon from her when she wasnt using it. She deserved it, Janie muttered.

Mac didnt seem like he heard that or maybe he was ignoring it. Either way, it worked for her. And she didnt give it to you or you decided to yell and pull her hair before she gave it? Mac asked.

No, she didnt. I asked again and then I decided to pull her hair and yell, Janie said.

Do you think it was a good idea to yell and pull her hair?

Janie thought about it for a second. Did she think it was a good idea? Yes, Janie said. Charlotte was being rude and selfish. I asked nicely.

Mac moved his hand from her shoulder and gripped her chin. No, Mac said. It was wrong of you to do that.

No, it was the right thing, Janie said but deep down she knew it was wrong. She had just told her daughter not to do that the other day.

Janie, Mac said. Think about this before you say anything. You know it was wrong. You should have called me or Finn over to resolve it.

Janie rolled her eyes. That wasnt going to work. Nothing would have gotten done.

What was that? Mac asked.

Nothing would have gotten done. The pink crayon still wouldve been with Charlotte.

Mac sighed. You dont know that. You didnt even call us and ask for help.

Because I knew. Janie had seen this play out several times. It never went over well if other people were involved.

Corner time, Mac said as he stood up.

What? Janie replied. Corner time?

Yes, corner time. You know what you did was wrong and this is part of your punishment, Mac said.

You cant punish me, she said, stomping her foot. You arent my Dom or my Daddy.

Mac gripped her chin with his fingers.

Think again, Mac said. When you joined the club, you signed a contract saying any club owner or monitor could punish you. If you arent comfortable with that then you can say your safe word.

Was she uncomfortable with that? Janie knew she had signed that contract knowing what he just said. The owner who was with the person joining always made sure they knew about that and if they didnt want it, then it was made known on the contract and to everyone else.

And Janie had consented to that.

Do you consent to this? Mac asked.

Janie slightly nodded her head and it didnt go unnoticed by Mac.

Then go into the corner and get into position, Mac said.

She hesitated for a second. Did she really want to go into the corner?

I wont ask again, Mac said. Legs spread, bottom sticking out.

Janie stood in her spot. She didnt really know if she wanted to go into the corner. She didnt like being there.

One, Mac said.

Janie held her spot.

Two.

Janies face cracked. Shit. He was for real. His mouth opened again and panic went through her. Ill go! Janie said as she turned around.

She slowly made her way towards the corner, not liking it one bit. Sure, she could have handled the situation better but Charlotte had it coming. She was being mean and withholding something she wasnt even using. It wasnt right.

Legs wider apart, Mac said.

Janie huffed but moved her legs.

Butt sticking out.

Wasnt her butt already sticking out far enough?

Janie, Macs voice held a warning in it. Does your punishment need to be worse?

She pushed her bottom out further.

Good girl, Mac said. Now, stay in this position until I call for you. If you move or talk then your time will restart.

Janie didnt want her time to restart. That was going to be torture. But she also didnt know how long she was going to be able to hold this position.

It was torture.

It was boring.

I want you to think about what you did wrong while youre facing the corner, Mac said. Do you understand?

Janie didnt move or talk. She didnt know if the time had started or not and she didnt want to risk it starting over.

Do you understand? Mac asked. You can speak. Your time wont restart.

Yes, Sir, she replied. I understand.

Everything in her wanted to call him Daddy, but she knew he wasnt hers.

Im going to be a few feet away from you. If you need anything or need to call out your safe word, Ill be able to hear, Mac said.

Janie could hear him walk away and she was left to her thoughts.

Was she really going to stand in the corner and think about what she did? Yes, because Mac told her to and she didnt want to disappoint him. He meant a lot to her and she didnt want to ruin anything. And she may have done something wrong.

Okay, she did do something wrong.

Janie shouldnt have yelled and pulled Charlottes hair. She didnt know what came over her to do that. It was like something possessed her for that minute or however long it was. How long did she hold onto her hair? It felt like a couple of seconds, but it could have been more.

The past two weeks had been very emotional and stressful for Janie. Maybe that came over her and she couldnt help it. Like it was the very tip of the iceberg and it was finally tipping over. She shouldnt have pulled her hair. It was unacceptable. Janie should have grabbed Mac or any other monitor or owner of the club to help with the situation.

But she didnt. And now she was stuck in the corner. Was Charlotte in the corner or getting spanked? She wasnt an angel. What she did was wrong.

Maybe next time she shouldnt come to the club and should just sleep. While the past two weeks had been stressful and emotional, she was also exhausted. It didnt seem like she got enough sleep with her daughter and work.

Maybe she could ask the babysitter to look after Eleanor for a little bit while she caught up on sleep or work. But just the thought of that made her feel guilty. She wanted to be the best mother she could be for Eleanor. Janie already struggled asking for a babysitter while she went to the club. She needed some time to relax and let her Little out but that didnt make her feel any better.

And of course the one night she acted out Mac was there. It seemed like any time she came to the club he was out downstairs and not in his office.

Mac was someone else. Dreamy. Dominant. And her next door neighbor.

Thats right.

Her next door neighbor.

It had been that way for several years now. She had moved into the house with her husband at the time. He wasnt there when she moved in, but two years later and he was. Janie didnt know how she had missed him. He was the owner of the club she had gone to since she was of legal age.

And yet they had missed each other at the club.

Mac had seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. He saw them fighting in the lawn when Janie found her husband cheating.

It wasnt pretty.

And now she couldnt escape him. It was like he was tied to her somehow. Any time she was at the club, he was out on the main floor, watching her. When she walked out of the house he was there.

He was everywhere. She wanted him to be her Daddy. She wanted him to be everything. But there were so many things stopping her.

Janie had a child. A two-year-old who was her world. She also had a lot of baggage. No man wanted a woman who had a child from another man and baggage. It was unheard of.

Janie also had no clue if he wanted her. Even if he did, she had to think about Eleanor first. Janie was trying to protect her. She didnt want her to get attached to someone only for them to leave. It was heart break and she had felt that in her life. Eleanor was only two and she needed to be shielded from that for a little while longer.

You can turn around now, Mac said.

Janie turned around so fast that she got dizzy and felt herself tipping to the right side.

Whoah, Mac said as he held onto her. Are you okay?

Yes, she quietly said. Janie blinked several times and looked at Mac.

Now, do you need a spanking or do you understand what you did was wrong? Mac asked.

She nodded her head and looked down at her feet. Janie knew what she did was wrong. There was no doubt about it. Emotions ran through Janie as she thought about everything. Life had been hard and she hadnt really had time to process it all. She wasnt blaming her outburst on everything else but she knew it contributed to it.

All Janie wanted to do was cry but she couldnt. Not in front of Mac and definitely not in front of her daughter. She was getting to the age that she was starting to understand things.

Eleanor didnt need to see that.

Can you tell me what you did wrong? Mac asked.

I, Janie took a deep breath in. I pu-pulled Charlottes hair and y-yelled at h-her.

Janie was trying so hard not to cry in front of Mac. Her eyes were already starting to water.

He gently touched her shoulder, like he knew she was close to crying, and gave it a gentle squeeze. Janie closed her eyes tightly, trying to stop herself from crying.

When was the last time a man had touched her so gently? With care and love? Janie didnt know if Mac loved her, but she knew he cared and she could feel it through his touch.

Youre okay, Mac said. Take a couple deep breaths in.

She took several in but continued to look down at her feet. Who knows how red or watery her eyes were right now. She didnt want him asking if she was okay and her bursting into tears.

Now, Mac said. Lets go apologize to Charlotte.

She nodded her head and Mac grabbed her hand. They walked over towards where Charlotte and Finn were standing. Charlotte looked like she had been crying.

Janie, Finn said.

Im sorry for keeping the pink crayon from you. I wasnt using it and I should have let you have it, Charlotte said.

Im sorry for pulling your hair and yelling at you, Janie said. She was gripping onto Macs hand. Finn had always kind of scared her. She knew he was nice, but she wasnt fully sure about him yet. Will you forgive me? Janie asked.

Yeah, Charlotte whispered. Will you forgive me?

Yes.

Hug it out, Mac said. Hugs make things better.

Janie hesitated for a second. Would Charlotte want to give her a hug after she pulled her hair?

Mac pushed her back a little with his hand and she took a step forward.

Charlotte wrapped her arms around Janie. I really am sorry. I shouldnt have kept the pink crayon from you. I wasnt using it, Charlotte whispered.

No worries. And Im really sorry about pulling your hair. It wasnt right, Janie said.

They let go of each other and Janie looked back at Mac.

Do you want to go back to the group and color a bit longer? Mac asked.

Janie shook her head. She needed to get back to her daughter. I need to go relieve the babysitter, Janie gently said before turning to Charlotte. Ill see you later?

Yeah, Charlotte replied. Text me when you want to meet up.

Ill drive you home, Mac said.

You dont need to, Janie said.

She didnt want him to drive her home, even if he was her neighbor. Janie was feeling vulnerable right now and she knew that being near him would only make it worse. His Daddy side called out to her and made her want to be vulnerable around him.

Come on, Mac said. I know you didnt drive here. I dont want you taking an uber when Im going to the same place.

Janie opened her mouth, but he held his finger up against it.

No buts. Im driving you home and making sure you get home safely, Mac said. He placed his hand on her lower back and led her towards the front of the club. Do you need to grab anything before we leave? he asked.

My jacket. It has everything in it, Janie replied. They walked up to the front of the club and stopped at the reception desk.

Can I have Janies jacket? Mac asked.

The lady walked into the small room to grab her jacket. She came back and held it out to Janie.

Thank you, Janie said.

Mac helped her get her jacket on and held her hand. Are you ready to go? Mac asked.

Yes.

They walked out of the club and towards his car. She was nervous about getting into the car. Was she going to break down in front of him or was she going to keep her cool? Everything in her hoped that she kept her cool and didnt break down in front of him.

If you need to turn the heat on or make it colder, you can do it, Mac said as they pulled out of the parking lot. The car was actually really comfortable temperature wise. It was like he knew what she liked.

It didnt take long to get to her house. Thank you for dropping me off, Janie said as she got out of the car.

Next time, wait for me? Mac said. I open the door and pay for things when youre with me.

Her eyes casted down. Sorry.

No worries. Just remember for next time.

Janie looked at him and gave him a weak smile.

Ill see you soon. If you need anything, you can come over or text me, Mac said. Ill wait until you get into the house.

Bye.

Her heart started beating faster and she walked towards her front door. Mac had always been sweet to her, always caring, and wanted the best. It made her heart beat faster for him but it also made her nervous.

She had a child and baggage. Mac didnt need that. He shouldnt have to deal with that which meant she needed to keep her distance from him.

Janie opened the door and walked in, not looking back at Mac.

Im home, Janie said.

Mama! Eleanor yelled as she ran to her.

Hi, baby. Janie wrapped her arms around Eleanor.
