44. Chapter Forty-Three

Mac laid in bed, Janie curled up into his side. He had been staring at the ceiling for several minutes as she peacefully slept. He didnt want to wake her up. She needed her sleep, especially with what they had done last night.

He had been holding himself back for so long. If he had it his way, he would have taken her to bed way earlier and several times. But he was going at her pace. Mac hadnt wanted to run her off and so he needed to be patient. But now they were here and he was going to make sure that they had sex almost daily.

Mac wasnt lying when he said he wanted Janie to be pregnant. It was a goal of his and she seemed to like it. It made him go wild thinking about getting her pregnant.

Janie snuggled into his side and he looked down at her. So peaceful and beautiful. He had gotten lucky with her, so lucky. He had thought he would always fantasize about being with her and that it would never become real. But here he was, holding her against him as she slept.

“Such a beautiful girl,” he whispered.

She stirred a little in her sleep. He hoped he hadnt woken her up. He wanted to let her sleep for however long she could. Mac was still trying to get her to catch up on some much needed sleep.

He looked over to the right and saw that it was nine in the morning. Ellie was going to be dropped off soon. He also needed to make breakfast for Janie. He absolutely loved cooking for Janie and Eleanor. It made him feel even more wanted and like he was helping. It also helped to know that they enjoyed his cooking as well.

Mac slowly maneuvered his body away from Janie. He grabbed a pillow and her stuffie and put them in her arms. She held onto them tightly and snuggled. Mac couldnt help it but take his phone out and take a picture of her. It seemed like he was constantly taking pictures of her. He loved the memories and he also liked to have it as a screensaver.

He quietly made his way out of the room and towards the kitchen. Mac didnt know what he was going to make for breakfast. He had thought about French toast because both of them absolutely loved it. It was probably one of their favorite breakfast meals.

Mac would do almost anything to see the happiness that they showed when they saw they were having french toast for breakfast. It was the purest form of happiness and he had given it to them. Something he was going to cherish for the rest of his life and make sure he did it.

He pulled everything out to make French toast when the doorbell rang. A smile formed on his face when he realized that Ellie was back. It was nice to have a night with Janie but he had missed Eleanor.

Mac quickly walked over to the door, looking through the peephole first, before he opened the door. “Hello!” Mac said.

He heard feet walking behind him and he only assumed that Janie was awake now. He had hoped he could give her breakfast in bed but he hadnt factored in that Joann would ring the doorbell.

Eleanor wiggled out of Joanns arms and held her arms open. “Dada!” She yelled.

Mac froze as he stared at Eleanor who still had her arms up. Did she just say what he thought she said? Two gasps were heard which made Mac look up at Janies sister. Her mouth was hung open in shock. He turned around to look at Janie only to find her sobbing.

“Dada! Up!”

He quickly picked Eleanor up, holding her close to him. Tears had formed in his eyes as what she said was finally being processed. She had called him dad. Something he never thought she would do, she had.

“Hi, princess,” Mac said.

Eleanor snuggled into his chest and he cherished the moment even more. He had started to think of Ellie as his daughter and to hear her call him that, it melted his heart.

Mac turned slightly and looked back at Janie. Her upper body was hunched over as she cried into her hands.

“Pinky,” Mac said. “Come here.” She looked up, tears streaming down her face. “Come,” his voice was more of a command now. He didn’t want her to be all alone right now. He wanted to be there to comfort her.

Janie walked over towards them, ever so slowly. She was still crying by the time she stood right next to him. He didn’t even think before he put his free arm around her and pulled her close to him.

“I love you,” he whispered as he kissed the side of her head. Another sob wracked through her body at his words. His heart went out to her in this situation. Mac had no doubt that so many emotions were going through her right now.

“I’m going to go,” Joann whispers. “I’m happy for you guys.”

Mac gave her a smile and held on tighter to the both of them. Janie snuggled into his side and she continued to cry.

“You’re okay,” he whispered. “I’ve got you.”

After a couple minutes of standing in the doorway, Janie pulled back and looked up at him. She had finally stopped crying, but he could still see the tears in her eyes.

“I dont,” she took a deep breath in. “I don’t know what to say.”

“I feel honored,” he gently said. “I’ve already told you I think of Ellie as my daughter.” Even more tears appeared in her eyes and he gently wiped away the one that fell down her cheek. “I’m not just saying that to say it. It’s how I truly feel.”

“Thank you,” she whispered. “Thank you so much, Daddy.”

“For what?”

“For fighting for us.”

“Anytime.”
