Chapter 13 #2
“I haven’t brought it up with you, Emma, because there’s so much going in our lives right now.
You’ve had to make a lot of big decisions over the past couple months, and I didn’t want to throw more into the mix.
But yes, baby girl, I’d love for you to have my babies.
I’d love to watch you grow round and heavy with my children in your belly, and I’d love to start a family with you.
All when you’re ready of course,” he adds, blue eyes flashing.
“There’s no rush because we’re just at the beginning of our journey together, and you’re young.
But I want you to know that I’m behind you every step of the way. ”
My eyes widen as I stare at the handsome man.
Is Logan serious? Yes, we’ve talked about our relationship, and what we want for and from each other.
But our conversations were focused on the near term, with me taking a leave from school, the opening of Redline and Roses, as well as potentially moving in together in his penthouse.
There was no talk of anything more than the next year or so because it just didn’t come up.
But Logan reads my mind and gazes deep into my wide eyes.
“I love you, Emma Kincaid,” he rasps quietly, uncaring that we’re at a restaurant with my dad within earshot.
“You mean the world to me and I want you to know that I’m with you, through thick and thin.
Whatever you want to do, we’ll find a way to make it happen.
I’m committed to you, sweetheart, and with your joy and energy, and my resources, the world is your oyster.
All I ask is for a chance to enjoy it at your side. ”
Then, Logan presses his lips to mine, his tongue gently questing against the seam of my lips.
I part my plush pout, welcoming him because this is how it was meant to be.
I adore this man as much as he adores me, and I don’t care that we’re in a restaurant either, with my dad listening in.
Instead, all that matters is the peace and happiness that I feel in Logan Blackshaw’s arms, and my hands creep around his neck as he pulls me close.
We kiss passionately, the crowd blocked out by the sensuousness of Logan’s touch on my body. But then, a clap brings us back to reality, and after a few more claps, Logan and I pull apart to see what’s going on.
To our surprise, the entire restaurant is clapping and it seems my dad’s leading the applause.
“Dad, why are you clapping?” I ask in a low voice that only me, Logan and he can hear. “I know this is a shock to you, but I promise, this is what I want. A life with Logan.”
My father merely shakes his head, his blue eyes still startled but also approving. He doesn’t answer my question, but instead, turns to his friend.
“Buddy, I don’t know if I should slug you or shake your hand, but those were pretty, pretty words, and if you fuck up, I’m coming after you with a shotgun.”
Logan grins, flashing brilliant white teeth in his bronzed face.
“I wouldn’t expect less,” he growls, pulling me close once more. “But yes, I’m in love with your daughter, and Emma’s moving in with me. We’re going to get her pregnant as soon as possible.”
“Wait, what?” I gasp, eyes wide, staring up at the alpha male. “We haven’t talked about that yet!”
Logan presses a tender kiss to my forehead.
“I know, I’m just projecting,” he growls while staring into my eyes with adoration. “Again, I can’t wait to be a dad, and you’d be a wonderful mommy, sweetheart. I can’t wait to have a daughter who looks just like you, with the same big blue eyes and long golden hair.”
“Oh my gosh!” I squeal, my cheeks flushing. “You are so crazy!”
But my dad interrupts then.
“How long have you been dating?” he asks. “And why didn’t you tell me?”
Logan and I share a look.
“Well, we didn’t figure out the connection until about a week ago,” I explain. “There are a lot of Kincaids in the Minneapolis area, and even after I explained that you’re a doctor, it still didn’t click. I guess there are a lot of Dr. Kincaids in the world.”
Logan shrugs.
“But we put two and two together when Emma mentioned that you’d recently welcomed a baby with your girlfriend. That doesn’t happen to everyone, and suddenly, I knew it was you. No worries, my friend. If anything, this makes things better because now I know Emma’s from good people. I’m not worried.”
My dad still looks shaken but nods imperceptibly.
“Holy fuck,” Rick whispers. “Who would have thought? But if this is what you want, Emma, then I support you,” he states.
“As your father, your happiness is important to me. I still don’t approve of you dropping out of school, but I also know how medicine can grind a person down.
Take some time to explore,” he acknowledges quietly. “It’s not going to kill anyone.”
I nod my head with a smile.
“Daddy, I’m not dropping out. I’m taking a leave of absence, and it’s probably going to be just a year or two as I open Redline and Roses.
I want to see what can happen with my business,” I explain.
“Sales are great, and I really think this could be an amazing opportunity. But if it doesn’t work out, I can always return to Evergreen, and I promise, Daddy: I will get a degree and graduate.
Maybe not next year, but sometime in the future. ”
Rick nods again, about to say something, but then Logan pulls me to him, those blue eyes fierce.
“I want you to graduate,” he rasps. “I want what’s best for you, and I want what you want, Emma.
If it means walking across the stage with your graduation gown draped over your pregnant belly, then so be it.
If it means that I’m in the audience, holding our baby girl as you receive your diploma, then so be it.
I want you, Emma Kincaid, and what makes you happy is what makes me happy. ”
Then, the alpha male kisses me again as I flush with pleasure because I know Logan Blackshaw is good for his words. The billionaire has my best interests at heart, and love surges through my veins as we bathe in the warm glow of mutual adoration.
