Chapter Thirty-Eight

DAISY

She didn’t like the way Rogan was speaking. Had anyone ever told him no before? She definitely didn’t want to be the first one to do it.

Daisy was absolutely exhausted. All she wanted to do was lie in her Daddy’s arms and be. But she didn’t have that luxury right now. No, she really did not.

“If I want to do something because a female is in danger, I will,” Rogan announced. “I know I said that I didn’t want to make Hedda mad, but if it is a bad situation, then I will bear the consequences so I can save your friend.”

Daisy shook her head. “You don’t know who this man is. You don’t know how bad he can be. How ruthless he is. He hasn’t changed, and he’s never going to change.”

Terror raced through Daisy as she thought about the man after her friend. The things he said he would do if he ever found her helping Gabby again.

If Gabby knew she was talking to somebody about this, all her trust would be gone. Okay, maybe that was a little bit of an exaggeration, but she wasn’t going to trust her as much, even if they were best friends.

“Then why don’t you tell me who he is so I can stop wondering and looking into it.” Rogan took a step toward the bed. “I’m pretty sure I’ll find out in a couple of days, but it would be easier if you just told me now.”

Daisy shook her head. She couldn’t betray Gabby’s trust like that. They had promised each other that no one would find out about who this person was. Nobody could help her.

This man knew so many people high up in the police forces across the United States and had friends in very high places. There was no way anyone could help Gabby without tipping off the man she was trying to run away from.

“Why won’t you tell me?” Rogan asked.

“Are you worried Rogan is friends with the man, and he won’t help but actually tell where your friend is?” Bonnie asked.

Daisy’s eyes went wide as Bonnie said those words. How did she know what she was thinking? Was she that easy to read?

“My brother would never do something like that, so you don’t need to worry,” Hedda said.

“If he’s been hurting her or is doing bad things to her, Rogan’s not going to let it slide.

He’ll help her in any way that he can. My brother doesn’t like it when women get abused, tortured, or mistreated in any single way. ”

It was easy for Hedda to say when she was siblings with him, or Bonnie, because he was her Daddy. But Daisy and Gabby didn’t know Rogan. They weren’t family. What if he realized that the man who was after Gabby was too dangerous, and he wanted to be an ally with him instead of trying to help?

No, she couldn’t do that to her friend. Not when she didn’t know this man very well. She wasn’t going to put her friend in any danger at all.

“Rogan would never hurt an innocent person, so if you want to help your friend, tell him who this person is,” Daddy gently consoled her.

Tears pooled in her eyes as she thought about everything that had to do with her friend, and now this mafia guy is standing in front of her. Was she actually considering telling him about who was after Gabby? What if Gabby ended up severely hurt over this, and it would be all Daisy’s fault?

She didn’t know if she would be able to live with that knowledge.

“Can you at least tell me if she is staying somewhere in the north?” Rogan asked.

Her mouth fell open at his words. How did he know? Did he already know who her friend was and where she was staying? Did he already know the man who was after Gabby?

No, he wouldn’t be able to know that because he said that they were still looking into it.

“Two of my men are visiting a mountain lodge. They’ve been there for the last week because the lodge owners were having some trouble with a girl who just had a baby,” Rogan explained.

“They needed backup, so I lent them two of my guys since the lodge is part of the Ricci Crime Family. Recently, a woman, who was badly beaten, came onto the lodge’s doorstep, seeking shelter until she healed fully. ”

No. No. No.

There was no way Rogan had already found out where Gabby was.

“My guys like to share their woman, like I have Reynar and Bonnie. They have taken an interest in this woman who will not give her name,” Rogan continued.

Dread filled Daisy as he spoke. They had found her. Two men had found her and were going to take her with them. Would they do the same thing that the man she was running away from had done to her?

“Don’t hurt her!” Daisy yelled before she could stop herself. “Please don’t hurt her. She’s all that I really have left of family.”

Gabby and she had gone through so much together, and she didn’t want her to die. Daisy had given Gabby money to get a new identification to escape this man. She had made sure Gabby had money and food and a safe place to sleep.

They were family. Daisy wouldn’t be able to live with herself if something happened to her.

“I’m not going to hurt her, but I need to know who’s after her so we can get ahead of this before he finds out where she is,” Rogan explained.

“The two men I sent have decided they are going to pursue a relationship with her and make sure that she is safe and happy. They are both Daddy Doms and know she is a Little.”

“They can’t possibly know that,” she replied.

Rogan just stared at her for several seconds. “They said that she had accidentally slipped into Little space when she got hurt. Otherwise, they would not have known until she told them.”

“Which she would never do,” Daisy mumbled.

Gabby had gone through too much and would never divulge that information to anyone, especially people who she didn’t know.

“So we are talking about the same person,” Rogan declared. “I will tell my two guys to keep an extra eye on her so that nothing happens. But I need to know who is after her so we can make plans to make sure that she stays safe.”

“I promised her I wouldn’t say anything,” she whispered.

“But she is not saying anything, either. Any time one of my men asks her, she has a panic attack. So I need you to tell us so that we can keep her safe,” Rogan said.

“But that would be betraying her, and I can’t do that. We have never done something like that before. She means the world to me, and I’m not about to break her trust. Not when she is my best friend,” Daisy quickly said.

As much as she wanted to say something and make sure Gabby was safe, she couldn’t just hand over this information.

“You can keep her safe without knowing who is after her,” Daisy finally said. “She and I have been through so much together, and I can’t break her trust like that. I’m sorry.”

“But if I can use one of your phones to call your man, I can talk to her. I can try and convince her to tell you who is after her,” Daisy whispered. “But it’s her story to tell. Whether she wants to give up that information or not is up to her.”

“Very well. I will call one of my men, and you can talk to her,” Rogan replied.

It didn’t take long for Rogan to explain the situation before handing the phone over to her.

“Your friend is on the phone,” he said.

“G-Gabby?” she whispered, nerves coming over her all of a sudden.

What if she was unsafe where she was right now?

Before Gabby could reply, Daisy pulled the phone away from her face and hit video call. She needed to see that Gabby was doing okay, and nobody was forcing her to say anything.

Gabby appeared on the screen, and Daisy let out a sigh of relief as she searched her face. She looked a lot better than the last time Daisy had seen her, but anyone could tell that she had gotten hurt severely.

Daisy looked around the room. Everyone was staring at her. She didn’t like that. No. She didn’t want them to hear any of her and Gabby’s conversation, but she knew they weren’t going to go anywhere.

“People are here,” Daisy said before Gabby could say anything.

They needed to be careful if they didn’t want to give anything away.

“Two men are here as well,” she whispered as she looked over the phone.

“Are you okay? Are you safe?” Daisy couldn’t help but ask.

“Everything is okay,” she whispered. “Or, at least, I think it is. When I first showed up, everyone here went into protective mode. They actually put me in my own house, despite their rules, but had several people looking out for me if I wanted to go explore.”

“I’m sorry,” Daisy mumbled. “I didn’t think they would be like that. I would have found you somewhere else to go if I’d have known.”

“It’s okay. I didn’t even notice they were taking turns, watching over me, until several days later,” Gabby explained.

“Because you slept for almost two days,” a deep voice rumbled through the phone.

“Everyone was worried about you. And they had Aiden come in while you were sleeping to make sure you were still alive,” another voice said.

“Are you safe?” she whispered. “Do I need to find a way to get you out of there?”

Gabby looked at Daisy and shook her head. “There is no way for me to get away from them. Trust me, I’ve already tried. They have guards walking around the estate, and these men won’t leave me alone. If one of them needs to go somewhere, then the other stays with me, so I’m never alone.”

“There has to be a way to get you out of there. I can help you,” Daisy quickly said, not looking up.

There was no way she was going to glance at Rogan or anyone related to him right now. What if he got mad and told his men to do something to Gabby?

“Daisy, I’m okay. They are making sure that no one hurts me. While I would like to leave and find my next safe place, I’ll stay for a while. They won’t allow me to, and I don’t want you to get hurt,” Gabby explained.

“I don’t want you to get hurt, either. We promised each other that we would look after each other,” Daisy tried to reason with her. “If that means I need to drive to you and get you out of there, I will. I won’t have a problem with that.”

“You will not be going there alone,” Daddy grumbled. “You landed yourself in the hospital. You are not going on any road trip right now. You need all the rest you can get.”

“You’re in the hospital?” Gabby’s eyes went wide. “Why didn’t you tell me? Daisy! We are supposed to care for each other. You can’t keep these things from me.”

“I just woke up a little while ago and don’t even know where my phone is. I promise I wasn’t trying to keep it from you,” she mumbled. “I was going to tell you as soon as I could, but then more people kept coming into my room. I couldn’t do anything about it.”

Honestly, she would rather they all left, but she couldn’t do anything about it. None of them had offered to give her space, and she didn’t have it in her to tell them to.

“And what about you finding your Daddy?” Gabby asked.

Daisy’s eyes widened. “So many things have gone on. I didn’t know how to tell you. I didn’t want to bring up bad memories.”

“You would never have done that. I promise. Don’t keep things from me,” Gabby pleaded with her.

“I promise I won’t,” Daisy replied. “Now, um... Rogan and the two men who are with you want to know who is after you. I promise I haven’t told them a thing. I didn’t want to break our promise, no matter how tempting it was, because I want you safe.”

“It’s okay, Daisy.”

Tears pooled in her eyes, and she quickly wiped them away before anyone else could see them.

“I know how exhausted you must be. I don’t want you to have to continue to live like this,” Daisy whispered.

“I respect your decision about not wanting to tell anyone. But at the same time, I just... I don’t know what else to do to help you.

He found you this time. I’m worried that next time he’s going to kill you. ”

Daisy had been worried about this since Gabby first went on the run. He had gotten so close to killing Gabby several times.

“We can help you,” one of the men with Gabby said. “We have connections that he doesn’t have. We will take care of him.”

Daisy didn’t feel like that would ever happen.

“I don’t know,” Gabby mumbled. “I don’t know whether I should tell you or not.”

“You have my word that my men and I will do anything possible to keep you safe by destroying the person who’s after you,” Rogan interrupted her. “Think about it for a couple of days, and then you can tell one of them. No matter who it is, we will take care of him. We won’t side with him.”

“I-I’ll think about it,” Gabby mumbled.
