Chapter Nine
He had no idea how long they stood there kissing, but when he lifted his head and she finally focused, she was wrapped around him like an octopus. Her legs were around his hips, and herarms werearound his neckexactly where he wanted them.
“Oh, my God. I’m so sorry.”
She tried to wiggle to get down, but he didn’t let her go.
“Simon, I’ve got to be heavy.”
He snorted. “Baby, my gym bag weighs more than you.”
They stood silently gazing at each other. The sound of a car door shutting pulled them from their daze.
“Let’s get you up to the apartment,” he said. He grabbed her bags and walked toward the elevator.
“Simon,” she whispered frantically. “You can’t carry me all the way there.”
“Sure, I can.”
He just chuckled and pushed the button. The elevator rose two floors before opening, and Kane and Sienna stepped on. Casey forced her face against his neck and mumbled that she’d die of embarrassment.
“Hello,” Kane said.
“Who is she?” Sienna asked, making Kane sigh and Simon chuckle.
“Guys, I’d like you to meet my … girl, Casey.”
Sienna walked around until she could see the top of her head. “Hey.”
“Sienna, give her time,” Kane said.
“Why? If we’re going to be friends, and we will be, I need to see her.”
Simon felt her lift her head and then turned so he could see both girls. Casey stared at Sienna, and Sienna scowled at Casey.
“What the hell happened to you? Who do I have to beat up,” Sienna growled.
Kane sighed again. “Baby, we’ve talked about this. You can’t go around cursing and beating people up.”
“But, Daddy, she has stitches and bruises,” Sienna growled. “As my friend, it’s my job to protect her, isn’t it?”
“How about we wait and ask what happened first?” Kane said.
“Fine,” Sienna said and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Honey,” Simon began. “No one beat her up. She was in a car accident.”
Sienna gasped. “Oh my God.” She tapped Casey on the arm. “Are you okay?”
Casey nodded.
“Are you shy?” Sienna asked.
Casey nodded.
Both men rolled their eyes and grinned.
“By the way, if anyone had harmed her, I would be the one to beat them up,” Simon said.
Sienna sneered but then focused on Casey. “When can we get together?”
Casey shrugged. “I don’t know. We’d have to ask Simon.”
“You don’t call him Daddy?” Sienna asked.
Kane closed his eyes like he was in pain. “Sienna…”
“Am I being too blunt again, Daddy?” she asked.
“Yes, and also intrusive,” Kane told her.
Sienna stuck out her bottom lip.
Simon hid his smile. The woman was gorgeous, but she was also a handful. He knew Kane would never change a thing. Kane loved this woman more than anything in the world, and Simon could guess he’d feel the same way about Casey.
The elevator stopped on his floor. “We’ll see you guys later.” He smiled at Sienna. “You can see her very soon. She’s already met a few of you.”
“Really? Who?” Sienna asked.
“Talk to Riley.”
“Hell, she’s been a bitch lately,” Sienna said.
“Sienna, no cursing. How many times have I told you that?”
She turned to him and grinned. “About a zillion. Oh, Daddy.”
The woman jumped into Kane’s arms and started kissing him like she was starved. Simon didn’t hear anything as the doors closed and the elevator started to move down.
Damn, that girl has her daddy wrapped around her little finger.
Simon carried her to the bedroom and set her on the mattress.
“This is our room, Baby.” He set her bags on one of the chairs. “Do you want to use the bathroom before we lay down?”
“Yes. I want to brush my teeth.”
“Is your toothbrush in your bag?” Simon asked.
She shook her head. “No, it’s in a suitcase. I’ll get it back, won’t I?”
“I’ll make sure of it,” he said and ran his hand down her hair. “I have plenty of new ones here for you to use.”
He showed her where everything was. “I’m going to bring you something to wear so you’re comfortable, and then I’ll make a few calls.”
Casey nodded her head.
Simon walked out of the bathroom and into his closet, pulling a shirt down from the hanger and setting it on the counter. “There, Baby. Take your time.”
He closed the bathroom doorand walked over to the bed, pulling the comforter down and pushing the blanket to the side for her. He walked over to the window and closed the drapes before pulling his phone from his pocket. He was talking to one of his employees when the bathroom door opened.
Jesus, fuck. He almost swallowed his tongue. She wore his shirt better than he ever could. It was so big it went to her knees, and although it should have looked ridiculouson her, it just made her look sexy.
“Simon!” the voice on the phone called out.
Simon remembered he was talking to someone. He cleared his throat. “I’ll call you back.”
He stuffed the phone in his pocket as he walked toward her. He could tell she was anxious, so he set out to calm her down.
He lifted the blanket. “Scoot in, Baby. I’m going to change, and then I’ll be back.”
Casey nodded and crawled onto the mattress. She pulled the blanket up to her chin.
Simon held back his grin before he turned his back to her and strolled into the bathroom. He showered quickly and brushed his teeth before walking out of the bathroom and into the closet with just a towel around his hips. He cringed when he pulled on a pair of gym shorts. He disliked wearing anything to bed, but he wasn’t going to push her anymore that day.
Simon turned off the closet light and walked toward the bed. He liked how round her eyes got and how they roamed over his body. When a desire-filled flush started growing over her face, he clenched his teeth together. Damn. He wished he could dive into her the way he was craving, but he wanted to wait until the stitches were out. God, it was going to be the longest six days of his life.
He slid into bed, pulled the blanket up to his waist, and turned toward her. He relaxed against his pillow. When he caught the anxiety burning in her eyes, he reached and grasped her upper arm.
“Baby, I don’t ever want you to be afraid of me. I would never hurt you.”
She relaxed and nodded.
“Good girl. Can we sleep like we did at the hospital, both on our sides and me behind you?”
Casey nodded.
He adjusted them until he was pressed up to her back and had an arm around her waist.
“How’s this?”
“I … it’s good.”
He kissed the back of her head. “Good. Go to sleep. We’ll nap for a few hours and then get up and eat. I also want to check out your stitches to make sure everything is okay.”
She nodded again and then yawned. He listened to her breathing even out and then deepened before he stuck his nose in her hair and inhaled. Her scent was something he’d noticed at the very beginning. It was a faint citrus mixed with vanilla. Every time he got close to her, saliva pooled in his mouth with the urge to taste her.
Fuck, once he got his head between her legs and his lips on her cunt, he couldn’t see himself ever wanting to stop.
His hard-on was throbbing thinking about it. It took a while for him to relax and finally sleep.
