Chapter 62

62

Faith sent a text off to Asta.

Even though she wasn’t with the agency anymore, she wanted to let Asta know that things were going well in her new job. Although she decided not to mention that Reuben was now her . . . her Daddy, her lover, her Dom.

Yeah. Nope.

Part of her still couldn’t believe this was her life. Yeah, she was sad that she hadn’t heard from Cammie, but in a way it was a good thing.

And she was still suffering some anxiety over what had happened with Eric. But she was hoping time would take care of that. And the lingering bad dreams.

Then she glanced up from her computer screen as the elevator doors opened. A smile filled her face.

“Hey, Lou!”

“I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages. Are you hiding from me?” Lou asked.

“Um. Not at all. I had a few days off at the start of the week because I wasn’t feeling well.”

And then, the other days, she’d driven in with Reuben and had taken the elevator straight up from the basement.

“Right. Or you had a big weekend.” Lou had a funny look on her face. “I saw some photos of you with the boss.”

“What? There are photos?”

“Uh-huh. On some gossip website.”

Oh, dear Lord. Who would be interested in her?

“Anyway, I thought I’d personally deliver one of my new scone flavors.” Lou handed it over. “You know, I never asked if you had any allergies.”

Kind of odd to ask now.

“Uh, no. I don’t. What flavor is this one?” Faith asked.

“Cranberry and cream cheese.”

“Yum,” she said.

“No worries. You haven’t been down to buy lunch lately.”

No, because Reuben wanted to make sure she was eating healthy, so Anita was making their lunches.

“I’m sure I’ll see you soon.”

“Bye!” Lou called out.

Faith didn’t want to hurt Lou’s feelings by telling her that she hated cranberries. Instead, she stuck the bag in the garbage bin.

The elevator doors opened a second time and Faith nearly grabbed the bag from the bin out of guilt. But it wasn’t Lou who walked in.

Aww hell.

Kirsten.

How had she forgotten about Kirsten?

Crap. And Reuben wasn’t here. He had popped out an hour ago to meet with a client who didn’t want to come to the office for some reason.

Faith wanted to stand, but she forced herself to stay seated.

“Ms. Leonard. What are you doing here?”

“Where is he? I know it was him!”

Faith wondered what was going on with her. Because she looked like she was losing it. She was wearing a pencil skirt and a red shirt, but they were wrinkled and there was a dark mark on the shirt. Her hair had been pulled back into a ponytail, but it looked greasy and lank. Her makeup wasn’t as perfect as it usually was, and Faith could see a whopping big pimple on her chin.

“I want to see him!” Kirsten screeched.

“He’s not here.” She jumped to her feet as Kirsten strode toward Reuben’s office door. Faith stood in front of it, barring her way.

“Let me in, you bitch!”

“That’s not very nice. I’m not the one who turned up without an appointment, making demands. If you’d like to see him, you’re welcome to wait.”

Please don’t wait.

“It was you, wasn’t it? He’s ruined my life all because of you!” Kirsten’s hands went to her hair, and she started tugging on the strands.

Holy. Heck.

What did Reuben do?

“He sent those photos to my husband and now he’s mad. I have a fucking prenup, and now my husband has evidence of my infidelity!”

She’d been cheating on her husband? And she was mad because Reuben had sent proof to her husband?

All right.

Faith wasn’t feeling so sorry for her anymore. “It sounds to me like you made your own bed and now you have to lie in it.”

“Lucien has been taken into custody by the FBI. I’ve got no job, no money, and now I’ve lost my husband! And it’s all your fault!”

“No, it’s yours.” Faith glared at her. “Leave. Now. Before Reuben comes back.”

“No, no. I’m not leaving until someone pays. And maybe that someone will be you.” She stepped toward Faith, a crazed look in her eyes.

“Step away from Faith, Ms. Leonard.” The words were said in a steady voice.

But Faith knew how mad Reuben was because his eyes were now icy cold.

Kirsten grew pale. Honestly, how did she think this was going to play out? She’d come in here looking for a fight.

Reuben wasn’t a man that you threatened.

Kirsten spun toward him. “You! You did this to me!”

Reuben ignored her, glancing around her to see Faith. “Come here, Faith.”

She skirted the other woman and nearly ran to Reuben. But she didn’t want to look like she was running from Kirsten.

Reuben took hold of her shoulders, looking her over. “Are you all right? She didn’t touch you?”

Faith shook her head. “No, she didn’t touch me. I think she’s lost it, though.”

“It’s her! Isn’t it? It’s because of her that you’ve done this. What does she have that I don’t? You could have had me!” Kirsten yelled.

“But I never wanted you,” Reuben said coldly. “Because you’re a manipulative bitch who uses sex to get what she wants. And now that’s caught up to you. Your choices are to leave town and stay away. Forget about Faith. About me. Or stay. And I will end you.”

A shiver ran through Faith at his words. He meant them. And Kirsten seemed to sense that as well. She stumbled back, falling against his door.

There was a dazed look on her face and Faith couldn’t help but feel another pang of sympathy.

“Don’t,” he warned Faith. “As well as fucking around on her husband, she also gathers information to blackmail the men she sleeps with.”

Kirsten gaped at him before moving toward them. Faith braced herself, but the other woman just gave them both a weary look. “I’m leaving the city. I’m going home. Well done, you win.”

It didn’t feel like a victory.

Faith watched her as she left, her shoulders slumped.

Reuben cupped the side of her face, turning her to look at him. “I love how soft you are, baby. I will guard that softness with my life. But she doesn’t deserve your sympathy.”

She nodded.

“Fuck, you’re shaking.” He gathered her close, wrapping her up and lifting her against his chest. “She isn’t a nice person.”

“I know. It’s just . . . I’m just . . .”

“She didn’t touch you, did she?” he asked.

“No. No, she didn’t.”

“She scared you, though, didn’t she?” He walked to his office and shut the door behind him, locking it.

“Just a bit. What are you doing?”

“You need a nap.”

“Uh, Daddy, I’m working.”

“Who is the boss?”

She sighed. “You are. But you know that you can’t use that to always get your way.”

“Of course I can.” He sat in his seat. “I don’t like that she ambushed you while I wasn’t here. I need security here.”

“You don’t need security here. I was fine.”

Reuben ran a finger down her cheek. “My baby is tired.”

Maybe just a bit.

“I have lots of work to do,” she protested.

“You need rest. And what my baby needs, she gets. And the truth is, I need you close.”

“Ohh. Well, if you need me.” She gave him a shy smile.

“Sweet as fucking pie,” he murmured.

She wriggled on his lap, looking over at the sofa.

“Stay still. Where are you trying to go?”

“Oh. I thought I was napping on the sofa. Do you want me to go somewhere else?” The idea of leaving him had her welling up. Had she done something wrong?

Don’t be an idiot.

“Shh. Everything is all right. You’re such a good girl. So special and brave. You could never do anything wrong. And I will never send you away. I just need you where I can touch you. Okay?”

Yeah. She was okay with that.

“That’s it.” He ran his hands along her outer thighs, then around to her inner thighs. A shiver of pleasure raced through her.

“Such a sweet, lovely girl. It’s time for these to come off, though,” he said as he stroked a finger over her panty-clad pussy. He pushed his chair back and set her on her feet. “Take your panties off for Daddy.”

He held out his hand and she shimmied off her panties and gave them to him. He tucked them into a drawer.

“Pull your skirt up, show me that pretty pussy.”

A blush filled her cheeks, but she did as ordered.

“Oh yeah. Such a sweet girl.” He lifted her onto the desk again, and spreading his legs, he put her feet on each of his thighs. Now she was open to him and he couldn’t help but see how aroused she was.

Bending down, he feasted on her. He started light, but then he drove her higher and higher until her breath was coming in fast pants.

“Please. Please.”

“Come for me,” he ordered.

It didn’t take long before she found her release. The world spun for a moment, and she had to take deep breaths to calm her racing heart as her feet slid off his thighs.

“That’s Daddy’s good girl.” He lifted her down onto his lap again to hold her.

“Daddy, I need to clean up.” She tried to get up, but he held her still.

“Why?” he asked.

“I’m probably getting a wet patch on your pants.”

“And I’ll wear that wet patch with pride. I like the idea of wearing your mark. Of smelling like you.”

Dear Lord.

That was so . . . primal.

And she loved it.

Yawning, she snuggled against him as he ran a hand up and down her back. Exhaustion filled her. She felt like she could sleep for a year.

He reached between them, pulling her back slightly so he could undo his pants and draw his thick erection from his boxers.

“Come here, baby. I need you to keep me nice and warm while you sleep.”

Holy heck balls.

He expected her to sleep with his monster cock inside her?

Lifting her up, he slowly lowered her onto his dick.

Oh, Daddy, yes, please.

“That’s it. Fuck. You feel so good.”

“Do you want to . . . um . . . don’t you want to . . . um . . .” Yikes. She couldn’t get her words out.

“Don’t worry about me, baby. This is about you. Now, snuggle in and get some sleep. Actually, wait.” He reached over and grabbed a glass of water. Then he held it to her lips. “Small sips. Well done.” After putting the glass down, he opened a drawer and drew out a Hershey’s Kiss. Unwrapping it slowly, he placed it against her lips. “Open.”

She parted her lips, and he popped it into her mouth before drawing her in tight against his chest once more.

She fell asleep on his lap as he worked, with his dick nestled inside her and the taste of chocolate on her tongue.

Perfect.
