Chapter 18

Cash drove his truck to the nearest pharmacy. He still didn’t like this, even though they weren’t going far.

And he wouldn’t let anything happen to her.

Addie seemed so stressed and pale that he was worried. Perhaps part of it was because she was close to getting her period.

Ralen’s phone started to ring, and he answered it.

“Hey, Bonnie. What’s up?” Ralen said.

Well, shit. They hadn’t thought to check in with Bonnie. Or, at least, he hadn’t.

“Yep, we moved all the boxes in. No, Bonnie, you don’t have to thank us. It was our pleasure helping you.”

They were close to the pharmacy by now.

“Yeah, we had a bit of an interesting evening last night. I’ll tell you about it later.”

Bonnie was Dante’s stepsister, and he was very protective of her. To Cash’s surprise, Dante had agreed to let her move to Billings and open up her own store. It was called LittleLand, and it sold things for Littles.

Dante had sent the two of them along with Titus to keep her safe, not that she seemed to need it.

Bonnie led a pretty quiet life. In fact, most of the time, he felt like they were just glorified helpers for the shop.

But he would never say that, and it wasn’t like he resented helping Bonnie.

She was awesome. He was also grateful to be back in Billings with his brother and sister and their families.

But there were times he wished he could do his own thing.

When he felt bored and useless. Dante didn’t want them getting other jobs, just in case they had to do something for him, but so far, nothing had happened.

Years ago, when they were younger and desperate, they’d signed their lives over to Dante in order to gain his protection.

There were times he regretted doing that.

However, he also knew that he might not be alive today if it weren’t for Dante’s help.

“No, I haven’t. I’ll check with Cash. You want us to come by LittleLand? Yep, we can do that. See you soon.” Ralen ended the call and glanced over at Cash. “Bonnie needs us to go over to LittleLand.”

“Fuck, bad timing. What if we told her what’s going on? She wouldn’t mind if we waited for a while.”

“I don’t know. She said it was important and Bonnie is the Number One priority here. Sorry, Addie. It’s just that our job involves looking after Bonnie. If Bonnie needs us, then we really have to go.”

“Couldn’t you just go, and I’ll stay with Addie?” Cash asked.

Ralen shot him a look that told him what he thought of that idea.

Yeah, Cash got it.

“All right. We’ll just quickly take Addie to the pharmacy, then back to Callahan Security, then we’ll go.”

A small hand grabbed his sleeve. “Drop me off. I can go by myself.”

“Absolutely not,” Cash told her firmly. “You are not going anywhere on your own.”

“Or we could just go there now and take her with us,” Ralen suggested.

“Bring her with us? I don’t know.” He glanced over at Ralen. “Would that be safe?”

Ralen shrugged. “How could LittleLand not be safe? The security there is tight. No one comes in or out without Bonnie or Titus knowing. Honestly, Addie might enjoy it. We will need to talk to Bonnie in private. Addie could hang out in the shop, though. There’d be no one there.

There’re cameras everywhere. We can keep an eye on her. Want me to call Ink on our way?”

“Addie, is that all right with you, or would you rather go back to your sisters?” Cash asked.

Addie looked unsure for a moment, but then she nodded. “Let’s go.”
