Chapter 5
CHAPTER FIVE
Dagger
“You good, man?” Hammer asks as I drop down in a seat across from him in the main room of the clubhouse. Gunner and Rogue were already seated, Cy and Malice were right behind me, along with Axe.
“Yeah,” I grunt and swallow down a large gulp of coffee.
“How’s the baby mama?” Cy asks, a smirk playing on his lips.
It’s been three weeks since finding out about Katrina being pregnant, and every day I’ve spent time with her.
She’s yet to come back to the clubhouse, but I’ve been going to her studio daily only to follow her home at night.
Kat didn’t have an issue with being here, it was my decision.
I was being selfish and taking time to have her all to myself.
Get to know her better, learn what she’s like.
Being around her, spending time in her space, it’s been unreal. She’s the most mellow woman I’ve ever met. Didn’t mean she didn’t stick up for what she wanted. She refused to give in to that Carl douchebag who wanted to get her to sell her place.
That warehouse wasn’t just a warehouse to Katrina.
She’s created a business for herself, but it is more than that.
That space was magic to her. She created something not just for herself to record music, but for others as well.
I’d spent time with Tucker and his friends while they were there recording.
“She’s good,” I answer Cy’s question and lean back in my chair.
“When you gonna bring this woman around the club to meet the rest of us?” Gunner cocks a brow, watching me closely. Far too close for my comfort.
“Soon,” I tell him and look to Hammer. “You hear from Grinder again?”
Hammer hadn’t mentioned the man in the past weeks, and I was hoping the guy was gonna keep away long enough for me to tell Katrina about him.
It’s fucked, and I don’t want to stress her out when we’re both still getting to know each other and the fact she’s pregnant with my kid.
The last thing I want is for her to freak over finding out she’s got family that’s connected to our club.
“He’s called,” Hammer says. “Boxer is demanding he see his daughter. He wants a meet. Knows that it’s a sensitive situation and isn’t going to storm in here, but he wants to know his girl.
Grinder’s being patient, but I’ve got a feeling both Boxer and Grinder will be showing up sooner rather than later. You talk to her yet about this?”
“Not yet, but I’m going to. I’ve been trying to go at her speed, give her time.”
Every night I’ve been in her bed, I’ve woken with the worst case of blue balls and no relief.
It’s not fun waking up to having her ass pressed against my dick without fucking her.
I’ve done plenty of other things, but nothing without clothes on.
I want her to be the one who wants it, and not because I started it.
Kat was gonna have to tell me what she wants and when she wants it.
“I wouldn’t wait much longer before telling her. They’ll show here, and you don’t want her blindsided by this,” Malice grumbles, eyes scanning the room.
I don’t have to look behind me to know what he’s looking for.
If Meadow was anywhere close, or their kids, he would look for them.
The others that had ol’ ladies were the same.
I think the only time Hammer was without his woman is when she was at work, and most of those times were shortened, so she was here with him and the kids they have together.
“I’m not gonna wait around,” I tell him, nodding as I tap my fingers on the table.
I’m not sure how she’s going to handle the news. Where her childhood and mine are concerned, neither of us has spoken about the past. It’s not something I want to discuss, and there’s a reason for it. I get that she doesn’t want to disclose hers either.
I glance down at the watch on my wrist, checking the time. “I need to get ready and head out. I told her that I’d meet her at her appointment this morning.”
“You go to that appointment, what’s happening will start to feel as real as it gets regarding—”
“It’s already feeling real,” I say, interrupting Gunner. The sonogram that I carry in my pocket makes it that way. This last week, witnessing Kat’s morning sickness makes it even more so.
“You sure the baby is yours?” Axe asks cautiously.
I thought of that question for all of a split second when she told me that first day she came back into my life. “I’m sure of it. Katrina doesn’t have it in her to be deceitful.” It was something else about her I knew without question, I didn’t have to think twice about.
“Don’t want you getting hurt, brother,” Bruiser grunts.
“Appreciate it.” I nod, not sure that I want to know what to think about if I could get hurt. Only my brothers would look out for me like that. They have my back when no one else ever has. They’re thinking about the whole situation and not just about her.
Sliding my mug away, I stand. “I’ll catch y’all later.”
My brothers all either give jerks of the chin or mutters of catch you later of some sort as I round the table and head for the door.
Barely there, one of the clubwhores, a new one that’s been hanging around for about a month now, steps in my way. “Hey, Dagger,” she purrs, brushing a hand along my chest. “I haven’t seen much of you lately.”
“Busy,” I grunt and keep going.
“How about we go and play some?” she suggests, batting her eyelashes. That shit doesn’t work on me. I don’t even remember what her name is.
“Not interested,” I tell her, shrugging her off completely as I pass. Behind me, I hear her huff of annoyance, but I don’t give it a thought. I haven’t been with any of the clubwhores since that night with Katrina. None of them appeal to me, and I know why. They don’t compare in any way to Katrina.
The sounds they make are bullshit to the real ones I’ve heard from my woman.
My woman, that’s exactly what Kat is. Doesn’t matter that we haven’t fucked again since she re-entered my life.
Outside, I pull my phone out of my pocket and find a text from Katrina waiting for me. I grin as I open it up.
Katrina: You don’t have to come to my appointment if you don’t want to. I’m fine to go without you.
I shake my head and type out a message of my own.
Me: Baby, you ain’t keeping me away. Meet you there soon.
No way was I missing this appointment or any others if I could help it.
For the most part, the drama has been free and clear for the club, but there was still a traitor that we have to find and haven’t figured out who William Burnt is.
All we know is that he’s an associate of the club, and that’s it.
Cy’s been looking into him and even brought Keys, Gadget, Vulture, and Tic into the search for this man.
So far, no one has been able to figure out who the hell the man is.
The name doesn’t exist on any forms of documentation, and they haven’t found anything elsewhere.
It’s like this William Burnt was nothing more than a ghost name to rattle the club. To throw us off.
Shoving the thought away, I swing my leg over and straddle my bike.
Right now, my focus needs to be on Katrina.
Her and the baby. Not to mention I needed to have a talk with her about the fact that not just her dad but her brother wants to meet her.
It’s going to have to be a conversation that happens soon.
Very soon.
The last thing I need is for Boxer and Grinder to show up without her knowing who the hell they are and freaking her the fuck out. Or worse, causing her to close down on me. Which is something I refuse to allow to happen.
