Chapter 15
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Katrina
Waking up alone isn’t something I’m used to. Since the day Dagger came back into my life, I’ve not once woken alone in bed. I didn’t like it one bit. I want to be able to wake up with my body pressed against his every morning.
Throwing the covers off me, I climb out of the bed and find one of his shirts to put on as I make my way to the bathroom. It’s a good thing he’s got his own and doesn’t have to share. It would suck having to leave the room to go in search of one.
I do my business and brush my teeth with his toothbrush.
If I knew we were going to be staying the night, I’d have packed some of my things to bring here.
However, I’d been under the impression we were going back to our place.
My house had stopped being mine a while ago when I looked at it.
It might be small, but it was perfect for us. At least for now, it was.
Finishing with a quick wash of my face, I step back into his room, check on my new pet, making sure to feed him before pulling on my jeans from yesterday, sans panties. No way was I wearing dirty underwear. That’s just gross.
I leave his room and go in search in hope of finding him or at least some coffee.
I then want to find some paper or something to write on.
I honestly wish I had my guitar here. That song I could feel humming in my head keeps circling.
Even more, it’s becoming clear. I’m going to have to find something to use before I lose it completely.
I never want to lose a creative thought. Making it to the main room of the clubhouse, I groan at the sight of two of the clubwhores standing close together behind the bar.
Thankfully, I also spot Avery and a few others.
Avery was sitting next to Taylor in her highchair, and her son, Tate, was in a chair next to her on his knees, eating what looked like mini pancakes.
I wave in their direction while moving to the bar.
I step behind it to the coffee maker and grab one of the extra mugs.
One of the clubwhores sneers at me. The other decides to speak her mind. “The only reason he’s with you is because you trapped him. We all know that. He’ll see that he doesn’t need you around soon enough.”
Done with these women talking down to me, I fill my coffee mug and throw the hot contents at her. “Oops. I’m sorry, I had to douse the bitch out of you.”
“You bitch,” the one I threw coffee on screams and goes to act like she’s going to slap me.
I step into her space and spit, “Touch me, and I will put you down. I’m done with the smarminess from you all.
I didn’t trap Dagger. Yes, I got pregnant, but it happened.
I told him, and it was his choice. That’s not trapping.
Trapping is something a skanky hoe like you would do.
I don’t need to. I have more respect for myself. ”
Turning away from her, I refill my mug and walk away as clapping starts. I nearly stumble when I see Dagger and his brothers all standing around. Dagger grins and moves to me. He takes my mug from my hand and kisses me soundly.
“I do not need to see you making out with my sister,” Grinder grumbles, breaking the moment.
Dagger lets me go and hands me my coffee. “You did good, baby,” he remarks, smirking. “I guess I won’t bitch at you for drinking regular coffee and not the decaf.”
“You better not,” I tell him, taking a sip of the black brew. I like the stuff anyway I can get it with cream and sugar or just straight black.
“What did she say?” he asks, watching me closely.
“Nothing I care to repeat, besides, I’ve handled it.”
“Yeah, you did.” He kisses me once more and tucks me close.
“We need to get back to work,” Hammer calls.
“Daddy, I want more pancakes,” Tate says loudly, speaking to Hammer.
“I’ll get you some, bud,” Hammer tells his son with a grin.
Tate hops out of his seat and runs to his dad, arms out as he flies into the air, Hammer catching him. “Chocolate chip ones.”
“Regular,” Hammer states, though, I have a feeling Tate was going to get the ones he wants.
“You go sit, baby, I’ll bring you something to eat.”
“Always feeding me,” I mumble and smile at him.
“Gotta feed you both.” He chuckles and kisses the side of my head before following after Hammer and Tate.
I joined the group, taking the seat next to the one Tate was sitting in.
“The coffee throw was pretty funny. The scream, totally hilarious.” CJ laughs.
“If she messes with you anymore, I’d bash her head against the bar top.” Rebel snickers.
“I knew I liked you.” Chelsea snorts. “If I had Sassy with me, I’d sic her on the whore. She wouldn’t mess with you again.”
“Hopefully, I got my message across.” I’m not a confrontational person.
“Time will tell,” Avery states. “They’re a dime a dozen, thinking their who-has smell like roses and lilies. I have to stand my ground against them every so often, but Hammer makes it known he’s not to be fucked with. Nor am I.”
“I think all of our men do that,” Zennia says, smiling as Dagger sets a plate of bacon, eggs, a pancake, and grits in front of me.
“I can’t eat all of this,” I tell him.
“Eat what you want to, baby.” He kisses the top of my head. “I’ll check on you in a bit. Gotta get back to church.”
“Okay.” I want to tell him I love him, but fear of freaking him out keeps my words at bay.
I want to question myself about timing. Is it too soon? Shouldn’t we know each other better? The time to tell him just has to come when I can say it.
I love him. There’s no doubt about it.
As he leaves me to eat, I am enveloped in the conversation flowing around me, and I know I won’t get to write the song in my head yet, but it’s still there. Flowing freely in a way music never has before. This life is becoming more beautiful with everything I’m being handed each day.
Talking with these women. Laughing with them. I don’t think of the danger. I don’t think about what the men are all discussing. But I know I should be. However, I’m trusting in what Dagger said and letting him protect me. Protect us.
