Chapter 11

T he sinister smile that lifts the side of my lips can only be seen as pure evil.

All I feel right now is betrayal and rage with the need to release all this anger to soothe the beast inside me that is fighting to come out.

This is the part of me that I always try to temper down.

The part that scares most people, but fills me with such a rush of adrenaline, it’s hard to come down from.

Who needs drugs when you’re chasing the high and thrill of your next kill?

Holding the bat with both hands, I pull back, swinging it hard like I were playing baseball, aiming for my next homerun hitting Vicky’s shoulder, the one that is still in a cast. The sound of bone breaking makes me laugh hysterically.

The scream she lets loose is muffled by the tape, as she doubles over on the floor, further away from Ethan. The sound of her screams is music to my ears, but I don’t need all the racket right now. Even being suppressed, it still reverberates all around the room.

Swinging again, this time I hit her in the back of the head to try and shut her the fuck up. I’m over listening to any fucking noise she makes. First it was begging, then the crying, now…screaming. She’s giving me a fucking headache.

“Shut the fuck up, Vicky,” I say, pulling back and hitting her again with the end of the bat, this time in the stomach while she’s curled up on the floor. “We wouldn’t want you to wake the neighbors now, would we?”

I hear Jackson’s laughter come from behind me, which makes me glance over my shoulder at him and chuckle as Vicky rolls over, curling into a fetal position.

Her eyes are still open, but they don’t seem to be able to focus, and she can’t seem to catch her breath. And after that last hit to her solar plexus, that’s understandable. That's when I notice the steady stream of blood running down from the back of her head.

“Stop, Kata. Please don’t do this. I’m begging you…” Ethan pleads, watching me beat the shit out of his girlfriend. The more he begs for her, the angrier I’m getting. I don’t ever remember a time he acted like this for me.

He didn’t even show up to court for me. And thinking back to all of his apologizing when I was being arrested, I see it for what it really was…for her. Not me. He wasn’t even talking to me that day. After I was pulled into the cop car, he was nowhere to be found.

I was delusional that any of that was for me.

I was blinded by my obsessive love for him.

He had left with her for the hospital, I’m sure.

Now I question whether what I felt for him was love at all?

Thinking back to all of that just makes me even angrier. I’m furious at myself for being so stupid to believe him when he lied to me all those months. I’m absolutely livid at him for cheating on me in the first place with this weak ass bitch.

Stepping forward, I stomp down just above her ankle, pressing down with all of my weight until I hear the audible snap from the bone breaking.

“What the fuck, Ethan? You’re begging for her?

” The bitch tries to curl into a ball again, but her movements are slow and dragging.

Dropping the bat, the sound of it bouncing and rolling away echoes in the room.

“Katarina…Please stop. She…she’s…” he hesitates, making my head swing toward him. His eyes are pleading with me, but he keeps looking over at her.

Pleading with me…FOR HER!

“What? She’s what, Ethan?”

“S-she’s…p-pregnant,” he reluctantly admits to me.

The room begins to spin, and my eyes open wide at this revelation, my head swinging in her direction as my heart skips a beat just before elevating to a quickened pace.

My breaths are coming out in short bursts.

The ringing in my ears gets louder as I stare down at the woman who wrecked my entire life.

I can feel the stranger at my back take a small step closer, and his overwhelming scent of bergamot and sage seems to permeate the air around me, swathing me in a cocoon of comfort that I didn’t even realize I needed.

Something that I’m not used to. He’s going to try and stop this, I’m sure of it.

However, now, due to this new information, it needs to happen even more so.

Ethan and I had talked about having kids in the future. I knew he wanted kids, and he said he wanted that with me. This isn’t fair. Why her? Why not me? I know I didn’t want kids right now, but I didn’t think he did either.

Placing my foot against her shoulder, I shove her over onto her back, pinning her arms underneath her.

Her eyes still swirl in their sockets as she moans and groans, unable to focus on anything, probably due to the pain, plus I’m sure the little cunt has a concussion from how hard I hit her.

And now with the broken ankle, I’m hoping she’s in a lot of pain.

Her body starts to twitch a bit. If she starts vomiting behind that tape, she might choke.

I don’t want this over too fast. Standing over her, I place my hands on my hips while staring down at her.

Tears, snot, and sweat covers her face. Squatting down in front of her, I rest my arms on my knees, staring at her with disgust on my face.

“This is who you wanted, Ethan?” I ask, looking over at him. “A weak, whiny ass little bitch?” The look on his face is wide-eyed fear right now. He can’t keep his eyes on me too long. His worry for the whore is evident.

“You’re fucking crazy, Kata,” Ethan mumbles, looking from me to Vicky. I laugh as I stand up again.

“Crazy?!? You haven’t seen crazy yet!” I say, lifting my leg, kicking him in the face with the bottom of my shoe.

He groans loudly as blood bursts from his nose and now a busted lip.

He falls over onto his side. Reaching into my back pocket, I pull out my new favorite toy, an all black Karambit folding knife that I purchased from the convenience store in Belleview.

It was a real score seeing that they were selling a bunch of hunting style knives, and I always wanted one of these.

I originally planned to finish the job I started before getting locked up by slitting Vicky’s throat from ear to ear, but now I will use it to take away their future before ending their present.

“Call her crazy again, and you will see just how crazy I can be,” the stranger growls out, standing directly behind me, making me look over my shoulder. He’s a lot closer than I expected. The smirk I’m wearing probably makes me look a little insane, but I don’t care.

Silently, using my thumb, I open my blade, sliding my ring finger through the loop at the base.

I spin the blade around my finger once and catch the handle in my palm.

Then I do it again, but this time letting it spin twice before catching it.

My anxiety with this new divulgence of information is increasing every minute.

Pregnant?

She’s fucking pregnant!

“Please, baby…don’t–” he mutters, looking up at me with pleading eyes. His words come out garbled from his split lip, but I interrupt him with a punch to the face.

“Don’t fucking call me that. Don’t call me anything anymore.

You lost the privilege to speak to me at all!

” I growl out, low and controlled. “Jackson…” I call out, looking over my shoulder at my friend, still watching all the drama unfold from his relaxed position against the wall.

“Shut him up, please. I’m done listening to anything he has to say. ”

Looking back at the stranger still standing behind me, I see his narrowed eyes have yet to leave Ethan. I know I’m fucking angry and have every right to be. But why is he so pissed at him? Has Ethan done something to him as well?

Jackson comes over as I take a step back, letting him squat down in front of Ethan to wrap his mouth with duct tape. He secures it the same way I did Vicky’s by wrapping the tape all the way around his head. The sound of the tape coming off the roll is quite satisfying, making me smile slightly.

When I step back to give Jackson a little more room, I stumble over one of the stranger’s black combat boots, making him wrap one of his tatted, muscular arms around my middle to hold me up and keep me from falling on my ass.

He pulls my back against his front, and I can feel all his hard muscles, making me take in a deep inhale of breath.

My hands immediately jump to his forearm to steady myself.

When I move to step away, muttering an apology, he holds me exactly where he has me with a tight grip around my waist. Leaning down into my ear, he whispers gruffly, “Look at that. You fit perfectly against my body, Sweetness. Like you were made specifically for me.”

His words catch me off guard, confusing me.

I look up into his ocean blue eyes, and for a moment, everyone and everything around us seems to just disappear.

I’m caught in his web, and regardless of whether it's made up of lies and deceit, I don’t want to move from here.

“What’s your name?” is the only thing my lust drunk brain can come up with at this moment.

He chuckles, like he knows exactly what he’s doing to me right now. “Sullivan, but you can call me Van.”

“Van…” I say, in a whisper, testing the word out, as if tasting it for the first time on my tongue. “I like that. Short and simple…the complete opposite of you.”

Barking out a laugh, his warm breath fans over my face, smelling of mint. “Definitely nothing like me. I’m anything but simple, Sweetness.”

“And I am absolutely not sweet,” I reply, in a playful tone to the little nickname, with a chuckle and a quirk to my brow.

He leans down, nuzzling into my neck. He runs his nose along my jaw slowly making a shiver run down my spine.

He gives a little nip to the spot at the base of my ear.

When he swipes his tongue along the area he just bit, my entire body heats up and my pussy begins to throb at that one small action. My entire body is on fire.
