Chapter 5 Caspian
Caspian
Standing in the basement, I check the product we need to deliver tonight while holding an ice pack to my face.
We were at the Mill this afternoon and went in the ring against Jameson and Spade.
Needless to say, we got our asses handed to us.
Now I’m moping around even more mad after getting suspended when that motherfucker Jacob Lee just got a slap on the wrist. Daddy saved him yet again. Fucking bullshit!
Then I get my ass kicked and reprimanded by Harley. Can’t see my girl, and now I have to meet up with The Aces to make the drop! To say I’m having a shit fucking day is an understatement.
Luckily, I get to see Axel tomorrow. I really need him to behave in there so he can come home soon.
He’s been making it extremely difficult to have visitation on top of refusing to let us see him.
He won’t allow anyone to see him but Presley.
If it’s not her, he throws a whole fit, like a child.
It’s heartbreaking and maddening to witness.
We don’t know what is going on in there, and he won’t tell us, but I know—I fucking feel it in my bones— that he’s being harmed, and I’m not there to slay his demons.
I saw how one of the orderlies eyed my brother like he was a piece of meat.
If I find out he’s laid a finger on Axel, he’s dead.
I already have eyes on him—actually, on all of the orderlies, and soon to be on all the doctors.
After the life he’s lived, I trust no one around him, especially with his voice gone again.
I tighten my hands into fists just thinking about how they took his voice away from him in such a short amount of time.
We made such huge strides with him—now? It’s all gone to shit.
My phone beeping in my pocket takes me out of my thoughts.
Reaching inside my jeans, I pull it out and read the message from one of my soldiers.
Nick:
Jacob Lee is having a party in the tunnels tonight.
A wicked smile spreads across my face, and I place the icepack down on the table.
Me:
If she shows up with him or at all. Let me know.
Nick:
You got it, boss.
Sliding my phone into my jeans, I turn and look at Cindy, who's standing by the long table that holds numerous buckets filled with Mary, bagging it up, handing it to Marci to weigh out, and then passing it to Brad to put in the suitcase.
“Hey, Cindy, wanna make some extra money tonight?” I ask, and her head snaps up, and I smirk.
“Sure, Demon. What do you need?” she asks as I walk over to her.
“Tonight there’s a party in the tunnels. I need you to help Nick be my eyes and ears,” I say, and she nods.
“Okay, sounds easy enough,” she responds, and I nod my head towards the basement doors.
I walk away with her following as I open the door and let her step out first, and then gesture for her to climb the steps to the shop.
Once we’re out of ear shot, I walk over to the cage and take out three gas masks, handing them to her. She raises a brow, and I chuckle.
“Take these to your car. I’m going to have a few of my soldiers send some gas through the HVAC system to knock everyone out. Nick will give you the signal. Once he does, you put one on and so will he—”
“This third one?” she asks, interrupting me, and I smile.
“It’s for Gum—Presley. Make sure she gets it, and once people start dropping, specifically Jacob Lee Radley, you bring her through the tunnels with Nick to the mansion doors where I will be waiting,” I tell her, and she nods,
“You really like that girl, huh?” she asks, and I nod again.
“I do, and I need answers,” I respond. She smiles at me but it doesn’t reach her eyes.
“Ya know, I thought we were good together but—” she says but I interrupt.
“I wasn’t the man for you. I’m not even sure I am for her either. One day you will find someone who will give you the world, but for now, that guy ain’t me,” I say, telling her the truth.
“I know, but anyways. I’ll get the job done and bring your girl to you,” she says, and I smile.
“Thanks, Cindy,” I say and walk away to the office where Harley is sitting behind the desk. Opening the door, his eyes collide with mine as he hangs up the phone.
“You don’t look happy?” I state, and he huffs, folding his arms over his chest, leaning back in his seat.
“That was the detectives. They are no closer to finding Amber. Which we already knew, but the continuous stream of questions is getting really fucking annoying. They must think I’m stupid.
How can you ask the same question in thirty different ways?
My answer isn’t going to fucking change,” he spits, exasperated with the whole ordeal.
“That’s how these pigs are. Do you think we have anything to worry about?” I ask, but he shakes his head.
“Nope, I keep telling him we broke up awhile ago. That I caught her with some street rat, and maybe they should be questioning people downtown,” he says, and I laugh.
“Amber with a street thug. That’s classic.” I laugh, and he takes a deep breath.
“What are you up to tonight?” he asks, and I shrug.
“Not much. I have a drop to make then I’m going to make sure the soldiers are good then probably head home and play some games,” I lie, and he nods.
“Alright, stay safe. I’m gonna check in with Brax at the Dungeon, and I’ll see you at home,” he says, standing from his chair, grabbing his keys and cell.
“Sounds good,” I say as we both leave the office. Walking with him to his truck, he turns to me, and I know that look in his eyes. He’s fucking worried and has the world on his shoulders. It shows heavily.
“How does she look? Do you think she’s okay?” he asks, concern laced in his tone.
“She looks normal, wearing a ton of makeup as usual. Do I think she’s okay? Not a chance. But what the hell can we do?” I ask, and he takes a deep breath, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“I’m fucking worried. If everything Axel said was true, then you and I both know they are keeping her against her will. She’s a smart girl and she wouldn’t stay with them willingly,” he states so matter of factly.
“Well, one thing at a time. We will get our girl back, even if I have to slay all her damn demons just like I do for Axel,” I assure him, and he smiles.
“Alright. I’ll see you later. It looks like your shipment is ready.” He nods behind me as a few of the guys pile suitcases into the bed of my truck.
“Yep, looks that way,” I say, backing up and giving him the two finger salute.
One thing at a goddamn time.
Hours later, I’m pulling up to a cabin in the middle of the woods just off Whitestone lake. My phone buzzes in my pocket and I pull it out to see it’s Nick.
Nick:
She’s here.
Me:
Don’t let her out of your sight. I gave Cindy gas masks. Get with her and she will tell you the plan. I’ll send you a text after I have Sin and Bobby open up the tanks into the HVAC system.
Nick:
Got it.
Putting my phone away, I shut off my truck and get out. Walking to the back, I grab the two suitcases and haul them over the edge, then walk towards the front door where two guards await. Putting on my game face, I take a deep breath and flick my lip ring with my tongue.
“Good evening, Mr. Cyprus. Esteban and Armando are not available tonight. They told me to give this to you,” the guard states and opens up the briefcase he is holding, showing me the cash is all there.
I nod, and he shuts it. I put down the suitcases, shaking the guard’s hand as he gives me the case, and the exchange is complete.
Turning, I walk the same way I came in, listening and watching my surroundings in case this is all bullshit.
Luckily, I get to my truck safely and leave without any issues.
Letting out the breath I was holding, I leave the dirt road and get back onto the highway towards Daggerspoint to Granddad’s mansion.
My phone buzzes in my pocket and I grit my teeth taking it out.
Nick:
Boss, we need to do this now. He’s getting handsy with her in front of the others and I’m not sure how much longer I can watch this.
Me:
I’m on my way. Give me twenty minutes.
Nick:
Okay.
Jacob Lee’s days are fucking numbered, and every time he hurts her makes me want to ensure his death is slow and painful.
Turning the radio on, I put the music on full blast as I light a joint. It’s time to get my girl.
Arriving at the mansion. I take my phone out and send a text to Sin letting him know it’s go time. Stepping out of my truck, I head inside towards the basement door. I lean back with my arms folded across my chest and wait.
“Get the fuck off of me!”
A smile spreads across my face hearing my girl coming up the stairs.
“Fuck you!” Her muffled yells have me chuckling as the door swings open and she comes stomping in front of me.
God, she’s fucking sexy when she’s mad. The fear rippling off her has my dick thickening in my jeans, so I grip her hips and pull her against me as she thrashes, and I take one hand and rip the mask from her face, chucking it, then wrap my hand around her gorgeous throat.
“Easy, Gumdrop,” I whisper into her ear.
She whips around in my hold and shoves me in the chest, but I don’t care.
I smile sinisterly and quickly walk her to the opposite wall, caging her in.
Her eyes widen as I lick my lips. “There’s no escaping me now, baby.
” And before she can respond with that smart mouth of hers, I smash my lips against hers and bite her bottom lip, licking her lip gloss away.
She moans into my mouth as my tongue swipes against hers.
Her hands wrap around my neck as I let go of her throat, and she deepens the kiss while my hands roam her torso, then move down to squeeze her asscheeks through the little skirt she’s wearing.
Pulling away, she whimpers, and I smirk.
“We don’t have a lot of time, but I needed to see you. What do you want to do tonight?” I ask, and she smirks.
“You,” she breathes, and that’s all the answers I need for right now.
