Chapter 66

Chapter Sixty-Six

I drop my head back with a purr in my throat. “Your hands are amazing.”

Warm water sloshes around us as Scout kisses my wrist—the one he just cleaned along with every other part of me. Some parts twice.

When he deposits my hand on his thigh, on his scars, I let myself look at the unevenly-colored, tangled lines in his flesh. He doesn’t seem to notice where my hand and my gaze is at all, his hands are busy lathering my other arm.

“You make them feel better,” he says huskily.

A warm flutter in my tummy makes me shift. “Same for mine.”

I barely even thought about the scars around my wrists this afternoon after he found me. Well, I sort of found him. Thanks to my leaf shoe antics. Thank god .

If they had passed that part of the road, lord knows when I would have been found.

Scout’s promise to embed a tracking device in my arm was in jest, but I would have gladly offered my flesh if I’d known what was going to happen.

“How do your feet feel?” He draws me out of my rambling thoughts back to the present where I’m warm, safe, and very much feeling loved.

I purr in my throat, mmm, and lean my head back against his large and very comfy shoulder. Who knew a human pillow could feel so good? I think we’re going to need a big tub like this wherever we live.

“I can’t even feel them right now, in a good way.”

Smiling, I wiggle my legs where they are sticking over the edge of the tub so my bandages don’t get wet. “Whatever you guys put on them is amazing.”

He chuckles softly. “Secret sauce.”

“Well, it’s far better than Mickey D’s secret sauce.”

This makes him laugh again and it vibrates all of my cells.

God, I love that sound. So rich, and warm, coming right from the deepest part of him. I’m totally addicted.

With my heart glowing, I look around, feeling all the love. “You didn’t have to get this hotel room for us. It looks expensive.”

He makes a chuffing sound. “It’s nothing. And you weren’t getting in the shower with your feet.”

“And I definitely needed a shower or a bath, I smelled like swamp.”

“We both did.”

“Is it okay if I wash you?”

His hand pauses on my elbow. “Do you want to? ”

“Of course. You’re my man. I want to take care of you too.”

It feels good to my soul to take care of Scout. He’s never had that and I want to give it all to him. Every sweet, gentle gesture I can so I can replace all the bad things with good feelings.

“I’d like that.” He exhales softly against my hair and a shudder vibrates the muscles of his abs against my back. “But you can’t wash my dick.”

I crane my head around to meet his frowning expression. “And why would that be?”

“Because you’re resting tonight and if you touch me there, that won’t be happening.”

A wicked little grin tips up my lips. “We could…you know…between naps.”

“Naps…”

“You know the kind where you wake up to your girlfriend with her mouth on?—”

Blue eyes flaring, He snaps, “Aria!”

Getting back to taking care of me, he mutters something under his breath.

“What’s that big guy?”

“You’re making my cock ache.”

I sigh longingly. “Thank god. Because all I’ve been able to think about is you deep inside me, filling up this empty ache.”

I guess I did it.

Pushed him over the edge, because Scout somehow magically stands up with me in his arms, snags two towels and drips water all the way back into the hotel room. We’re halfway to the bed when a knock on the door stops him dead.

“Room service?” I ask as he growls like a feral beast .

“Not until nineteen-hundred hours. I had specific instructions on the time to deliver.”

That’s so very ‘Scout like’. He likes things orderly. I’ve lived with my brother so I know what I’m getting into, but I also know I’m going to drive him a little bit crazy because I’m not like that.

I barely know what time it is, but the clock on the dresser says five thirty. “Could it be your team?”

He lays me gently on the bed and kisses my forehead. “No fucking way. They know the consequences. Stay here.”

He tucks a towel around me and lashes the other around his waist. He’s looking through the peep-hole with his gun in his hand when he groans loud enough for me to hear it across the room. “We’re going to have a come to Jesus meeting.”

I stiffen and push to my elbows. “Who is it?”

“Griff.”

He flips the latch on the door and jerks it open. The pistol is still in his hand.
