Chapter 20 #2
Dante smiled, reached out, and touched Blaze’s nose and then mine.
“Definitely has your nose.” Dante chuckled.
“Dr. King is downstairs. He’ll make a cup of tea and wait to make sure you don’t have any complications.
I’m to let him know when your omega line closes completely, and then he’ll go.
We have an appointment with him in two weeks. ”
“I was rude. I should thank him.”
Dante smiled. “He said he understood, and it was thanks enough to see you so captivated by Blaze. Your magical block will start to wear off, but your omega line should be closed before that happens.”
“We made a baby,” I said.
Dante grinned. “Yes we did, and it was quite fun.”
I smiled. Yeah, it was. “I love you,” I said.
“And I love you. Just so you know, Dr. King said that Blaze is seven pounds even and eighteen and a half inches.”
“Huh. I figured he would be bigger.”
“He’ll grow. He’s plenty big enough, and Dr. King said he was perfectly healthy.”
I smiled at Dante and then looked down at the baby in my arms. He was fast asleep, and it was so surreal to have him in my arms. My pregnancy wasn’t long, but now that he was here, it felt like it had lasted forever.
“Did you want to hold him again? You gave him to me so quickly, and now I’m just sitting here staring at him. ”
“No, you should hold him. I’ll get plenty of time with him,” Dante said. “I do want to get a picture of the two of you though,” Dante said just as I heard the camera sound from his phone. I looked up at my mate with wide eyes.
“You already took it?” Dante nodded and then turned his phone to show me the picture. I couldn’t stop my smile. “Look at us.”
“I am.”
I looked up and saw Dante staring at me with so much love in his gaze. “I look like a mess, but you are still looking at me like it doesn’t matter.”
“It doesn’t. I love you. I love all of you. Messy hair, throwing up with pregnancy sickness, moaning my name as I move in and out of you, all of you. All sides.”
I bit my lower lip. “I love you too.”
Dante got comfortable beside us again and made the picture he’d just taken his lock screen photo. “Do you mind if I share the picture? We can send out a birth announcement this way.”
“Oh, that’s a good idea. You should let your pack know.” Dante gave me a smile before he sent out a group text. “Can you add Todd? I want Todd to know, but I don’t know where my phone is.”
“Do you have his number?”
I told Dante the number, and he added it to his message to everyone in the pack. He typed a little more and then showed me the message.
Banner and I would like to let everyone know that Blaze Orion finally arrived today at 11:42 AM.
He weighs 7 pounds and is 18.5 inches. As you can see, Banner is completely in love with our little guy, and I can’t blame him.
Banner and Blaze are both doing amazing, and we can’t wait to get to know our new little bundle.
“What do you think?” Dante asked.
I swiped at my eyes again. “I think it’s perfect.”
“Good. Then I’ll send it and then turn my phone on DND, and we’ll spend the next several days bonding with our son.”
I couldn’t stop smiling. Dante did exactly what he said he would, and then he put his phone on silent before reaching over and placing it on his nightstand. He came back to me and the baby and slid his arm around my shoulders. I leaned into my mate, closed my eyes, and sighed.
“I can’t believe he’s finally here. He sure took his time.”
Dante chuckled. “He was only two days past his due date.”
I sighed. “I know. I’m impatient, I guess.” A thought hit me. One that horrified me a bit. “Do you think our next one will be late too?”
Dante pulled me closer for a moment before his hold loosened. “If he is, we’ll make the best of it. Babies come when they’re ready.”
“I know. That doesn’t mean I can’t be impatient.
” I remembered Cecil talking about his pregnancy.
“Not that I would ever want my pregnancy to be only six weeks. I wouldn’t.
That’s just…no. But I knew when he was due, and then when he didn’t come and I didn’t even have a red omega line, I got a little impatient. ”
Dante kissed my head. “It’s understandable. He’s here now though, and we can spend time with him.”
I nodded. When I looked down at Blaze, I couldn’t believe he was actually here. Sure, I’d wanted him to arrive last week, but now that he was here, it was surreal.
“How are you feeling?” Dante asked. “Do you need anything?”
I smiled over at my mate. “I’m going to want to go to the bathroom when I can feel my legs, and maybe lunch? We missed it. Isn’t it lunchtime?” Dante chuckled.
“What would you like for lunch? Steak? Seafood? Chinese?”
Oh, he had me there, and when Dante’s chuckle turned to laughter, he nodded. The room was suddenly filled with the scents of Chinese food, and I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I looked around for the food and found it at the foot of the bed on trays.
“That’s going to be so good. Can I have a soda too? I’m not pregnant anymore, and I was so good and cut them almost completely out while I was.”
Dante chuckled. “You can have anything you want, baby. Give me a few.” Dante kissed the side of my head before he quickly moved off the bed.
He went to the corner where we had the bassinet and brought it closer.
He reached for Blaze, and after carefully handing him off to my mate, I let my arms fall to my sides.
I wiggled my feet and smiled. The feeling was quickly returning.
Dante placed a tray over my legs, and on it were all of my favorites and, of course, the fizzy soda I loved.
Damn, I was such a lucky omega. I knew that most alphas or sires would do the same for their mates, but Dante loved to spoil me.
It had taken some getting used to, but I knew it was one of the ways he showed affection, and once I realized that, I stopped saying anything about it other than thank you.
“This looks so amazing. Thank you,” I told him. I turned my head up, and when Dante bent down to give me a kiss, I loved that he let his lips linger on mine for a long moment. It was absolutely perfect.
“You deserve this and so much more,” Dante said.
“We’ll start with this.” He winked before he walked around the bed and rejoined me.
I had to wonder how my life had become so amazing as I ate my favorite food and was able to steal glances at my newborn son.
Then I looked over at the man on my right and knew. Dante was how.
