The great hall was packed, the majority of guests crowding around the stage as Quinn melodramatically belted a nineties pop song.

“So, I guess the plan where I sneak off with your date’s plus one so you get some alone time might be foiled,” Alo said as they reached the nearest punch bowl.

“Oh, yeah,” shrugged as he held up four fingers to a server. “Not exactly your type, huh?”

Alo shrugged. “Well, that’s not necessarily true, but I?—”

“Lovelies,” a soft, sing-songy voice the duo recognized as Fen interrupted their conversation. “Did I catch you both sharing sweet looks with two men on the way in the door?”

Alo froze, unsure of what to say.

“Um,” mumbled as he searched for the words. “I—well, yes. Me, anyway.”

Fen smiled a big, goofy grin—one that revealed he was anything but sober. As the server handed two drinks, Fen wrapped his arms around him in a friendly hug.

“Um, thanks?” held his arms up as though not to spill on his less than sober friend.

“Fen, what have I told you about beer bonging the jungle juice?” Magnus asked as he appeared from the crowd.

“Ah, yes. Maggie, be a dear and fetch Jon Bong Jovi,” Fen said, still squeezing tight as Alo grabbed the drinks out of his hands.

and Alo gave Magnus a curious look. “That’s the name of his beer bong,” replied Magnus with a sigh. “Let’s go find Bong Jovi together, baby.”

“Okay, okay,” Fen agreed, releasing from his hold. “But , don’t forget what I told you.”

“About what? I don’t think you told me yet,” replied .

“Huh,” Fen appeared puzzled as Magnus picked him up in his big arms and carried him through the crowd.

“What was that?” Alo asked.

“Fen being Fen, I guess,” shrugged, grabbing up the last two drinks before leading his friend through a sea of partygoers.
