CHAPTER SIX — STEPHANIE
The next week passes relatively normally.
Not much happens. I enjoy my break. I don't get long between semesters, so I cherish the time I have.
I catch up on watching some Netflix shows.
I catch up on some reading, see some friends, go on some walks.
I see David here and there, but we largely stay out of each other's way.
My ass is sore for the first few days, but gradually it fades until it's just a very light shade of pink.
I take out the butt plug after the cleaning and store it in my drawer.
Every once in a while, I open the drawer and look at it, feeling that weird swirl of desire and shame when I see it.
I shake off the thought and go back to my day.
Near the end of the week, a friend from my computer science class, Philip, texts me and asks me on a date.
In particular, he asks me to go to our neighborhood block party with him.
It's a thing that happens every year. It's a lot of fun.
People set up, open up their backyards, serve food, serve drinks.
Even though I'm not super interested in Philip, I say yes.
You never know, I tell myself. And besides, part of me wants to get my mind off of David.
He's been so busy and has basically been ignoring me.
I hate the thought of wanting more from him than he wants from me.
And you know what they say: the best way to get over a guy is to get under a new one.
I can't think about him too much. Whatever we have, it's just a sex thing.
And even then, it's not like he's really even bothered to see me, even though he's right above me.
I can't afford to be thinking about him.
So I say yes to Philip.
