Chapter 28
EvanAnn
When my alarm goes off, I draw the covers over my head.
“You want to stay in bed all day, goody?”
“Yes.” It’s not even a question. All the pictures and “love notes” are still up and may never come down.
Cam chuckles. “If I want to get into Yale, I have to go to school.”
I flop the covers down. “You’re right.”
He leans over me and kisses me softly. “I can see why Damon likes sleeping with you. You clung to me and only me all night. It was the best.”
I sigh. “Are you staying again tonight?”
Cam runs his hand through his hair. “Yeah, Hawk’s parents are being very needy, and mine have decided I must be doing something right. The world is upside down.”
We get ready for school and head down the back way. When we climb on his bike, Cam rolls it out and down the drive. He kicks the engine on and we pull out. Hawk comes alongside us.
“Morning, baby girl.” Hawk’s voice echoes in my helmet.
“Morning.”
“Still not feeling it?” he asks.
I blow out a breath but don’t answer. When we arrive at school, I stick with Cam until calculus. I miss Damon, but he texts me. Mostly in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep. Almost every second of his day at Crowne Mawr is scheduled, which makes sense.
History is weird with just Mia and Hawk. For lunch, Hawk leads me toward the parking lot instead of the cafeteria.
And I don’t protest. Too many looks from girls and guys today like they know all my business. I’ve kept my head up, but it’s wearing on me.
“Tell me what you want to eat, Annie.” He leads me out to their bikes, and Cam is waiting for us.
We go to a little hole in the wall sushi place. For an hour, I don’t have to think about someone trying to capture a picture of me and posting it to a social media account that shouldn’t exist.
Instead of stalkers, we discuss how the horror genre has changed over the years. Cam wants to download some current movies that reflect the movies we’ve been watching from my dad’s list.
“There are some slasher films that would give Freddie a run for his money.” Cam leans back in his chair and puts his napkin on the table. “Like It Follows.”
“I’d love to compare the haunting genre. The Conjuring universe versus Poltergeist.” Hawk brushes my hair behind my ear. “We could do a marathon.”
I smile. “That would be awesome. Do you have time for a marathon? Because I don’t. I have a production and homework and college admissions coming out of my ears.”
Hawk leans in and kisses me. “Don’t worry, we’ve got you, Annie. It can wait until the show is over.”
“Isn’t that when hockey season starts?” I steal the last California roll and pop it in my mouth.
“Close.” Cam smirks. “We’ll have some time before it really gears up.”
There’s always going to be more work to do until we graduate. It’s weird to think about being with them in college when we’ve barely even begun to date. But I also can’t imagine not being with them. We don’t have to make any concrete decisions until spring, but that doesn’t take the stress off.
When we return to school, I ignore the looks and whispers.
The link has made its rounds, so most of the school has seen it.
If I didn’t know better, this would have been a great way to destroy my good girl reputation without showing Chase videos of them fucking me.
Because those pics show how easy it was for the Devil’s trio to insert themselves into my life and take it over.
It doesn’t show me resisting them at all. At the beginning, I did.
Mia meets us where Anteros and Deimos split. “Boys.”
Hawk pulls me in for a hug. “See you in rehearsal this afternoon.”
When he releases me, Cam draws me into him and tips my chin up. His dark eyes search mine. “Something else will come out soon, and this will fade to the background.”
“I can only hope.” I lean in as Cam kisses me.
They leave me with Mia, who links her arm with mine. “Where’d you go for lunch?”
I slip into an easy conversation about lunch and classes with Mia. She avoids any talk about the social media stuff. But she does tell me way too much about her lunch with Liam and Fletcher. When we sit down in our acting studio class, I get a notification.
Dread floods me. I can’t leave my phone off, but some of the anonymous texts have been almost as awful as that page.
When I check, there’s a new post to the page. My heartbeat is loud in my ears, but it’s better to know. The picture is Cam kissing me from a few minutes ago. Fuck. How did I not notice that?
I show the pic to Mia. “Who was around us?”
“What the fuck.” Mia takes my phone and glares at it. Her eyes narrow and she turns it like she’s noticing something. “We should go back and figure out the angle because I’m not sure anyone could have gotten that shot.”
When she hands back my phone, I look at the picture. It’s from a fairly high angle, and it probably would have been obvious to Mia or Hawk if someone held their phone up while passing us to take it.
“You think it’s a planted camera?” I ask. I scroll through the pictures to see if I can find another pic in that hallway. My heart races because that would explain how Jackson could be there and still have access here.
“Possibly. Or someone doesn’t care if they get caught and we just happened to be looking the wrong direction when they took the picture.” Mia blows out a breath. “This is so weird. Posting this looks like a full-time job. Who the fuck has time to do that and be at this school?”
Before I can respond, someone sits in the chair next to me.
I turn and am surprised to find Chase. He smirks like he’s caught me.
“EvanAnn.” His tone is gloating, and I don’t think I like this.
“What are you doing, Chase?” Mia snarls.
“It’s class. There aren’t assigned seats.” Chase shrugs and leans back, making himself comfortable.
For a moment I consider moving. There are open chairs in the auditorium, but fuck that. I’m not being chased out of my seat by this asshole.
“Do you enjoy being their whore, babe?” Chase says soft enough that Mia probably can’t hear, but he emphasizes babe.
“Better than your girlfriend.” My phone is still in my hand so I set it to record whatever he has to say.
“You know my dad’s the one who first pointed you out.” Chase continues to face front. The seminar is starting, so he keeps his voice low. “The spring showcase when you and Brandt were announced as directors for fall.”
I glance his way, but his face is expressionless like none of this matters.
“My dad said you were the one to watch. The one going places because you had drive and ambition.” Chase chuckles. “I didn’t tell him you were an uptight nerd who didn’t have any friends.”
I shake my head. “So you decided to date the nerd to appease your dad?”
“It worked beautifully. You’ve got all the trappings of a pretty girl.
Tits. Ass. A decent face. It wasn’t really a struggle to kiss you.
” Chase leans back like he doesn’t have a care in the world.
“Besides we both got something out of it. You got to say you had a boyfriend and go to parties, while I got to do whatever the fuck I wanted, knowing you’d be exactly where I left you.
At home. Alone. Because that’s who you are. ”
We already figured out this part, so I don’t respond. It doesn’t stop my anger from flaring though. He used me because I was easy to use.
He leans into me, his shoulder touching mine.
“I did try to get into your pants at first. Thought, why not? She’s got a cunt.
Then you told me you were a virgin, like I didn’t already know.
” He scoffs, and I draw away from him. “I spun a future, figuring that’s what you wanted.
The fucking fairy tale. You and me, riding off into the sunset. ”
He chuckles like I was in on the joke. “I didn’t have to wait for you to be ready for sex though. I already had plenty of girls willing to ride my cock when my parents thought I was with you. The golden little scholarship girl from Anteros. You were the best cover.”
“You think I didn’t figure that shit out?
” I laugh. Not willing to tell him the only reason I knew was because Damon, Cam, and Hawk told me.
Fuck, Damon even showed me proof. I let an easy smile grace my lips.
“You remember Fletcher’s party, when you came into a room to get Abby to suck you off and Cam interrupted? ”
He turns and his eyes narrow on mine. Yeah, fucker, how would I know about that. Maybe he thinks Cam told me. That won’t do.
I give him a smug little smile. “I was there, in the closet with Damon. My pants unzipped, pressed tight against him with his mouth on mine, coming down from the best fucking orgasm of my life.”
Chase’s face flushes with anger, but he can’t do anything here. That’s why he approached me, because I wouldn’t make a scene during class. Fucker, it goes both ways.
“See, if I’d been attracted to you the way I’m attracted to them, I would have gladly sucked your cock.
But it turns out I just liked you because you noticed me.
Why not date the attractive boy who asked me out?
” I shrug like it’s not a big deal and face forward.
“You don’t know how good they kiss or eat pussy, but I do.
That night while you were getting your blowjob from Abby, Damon took me home and I sucked all their cocks and swallowed their cum while they took turns getting me off over and over again. ”
Chase practically radiates in the seat next to me. It’s a dangerous game, but fuck him for thinking I would ever be an easy target. Fuck him for choosing me to be his good girl, the trophy for his shelf.
I lean into him and whisper, “You know why they like me? Because I’m always their good girl.”
I settle back in my seat and leave the audio recording going just in case he wants to confess anything else. Like the rose or the texts. But even though it’s possible Chase is doing all this shit, I don’t think it’s him.
He’s too petty. He’d want the recognition. He’d want me to know it’s him. Narcissist asshole.
The fact he went so long without telling me he was fucking other girls is a testament to his acting ability. Because I’m sure he wanted to tell me every time. Gloat in my face when I wouldn’t go down on him that five other girls would be lining up to give him what he needed.
In the end, he’s just the asshole I considered giving my virginity to.
When class ends, he bolts from his seat like it’s on fire. I turn off the recording and smirk.
“Are you okay?” Mia touches my arm and searches my eyes. “I could tell he was saying shit, but I couldn’t hear. Let me know if you want me to knee him accidentally during rehearsal.”
I send the recording to the group chat with the Devil’s trio. “He just thought he could slut shame me. So I told him they like me because I’m their good girl.”
Mia laughs. “Nice.”
We head to the black box theater room for rehearsal. Hawk waits next to the door for me. He’s got his cocky smile on. Did he get to see how angry Chase was?
“Want to take a break, Annie?” Hawk’s smug, and I love it on him.
“Maybe later. I need to focus.” I put my hand on his chest and press in close. His heat engulfs me and I’m so fucking grateful he kissed me that night in my living room. That they stormed into my world and took over.
“I can help you focus.” His green eyes search mine with barely banked heat.
Mia gestures away from us. “I’m going to the bathroom. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
When she’s gone, I go up on my toes to whisper in his ear. “Did you like my recording, sir?”
“Such a good girl.” He grabs my hips and pulls me against him fully. His hard cock presses against my stomach, making me calculate if we have enough time for me to drag him to a closet before class. “We’re playing tonight, baby girl.”
Sadly, not enough time, but tonight... I breathe in the scent of leather and Hawk. That rush of anticipation zips through my veins. “I can’t wait.”
Damon’s phone
Hawk:
You heard the recording?
Cam:
Such a fucker
Me:
Post it
Hawk:
What if he comes after her?
Me:
Then we make sure he knows what happens when he fucks with our girl
Cam:
