HARLEY

Scarlett had been dodging her for days now and Harley had let her but tonight she was going to put an end to it and confront her. There was a party happening at Lucas’ place and she was certain that Scarlett would be there because Bloss had told her just as much.

Harley had never been to his house, mainly because Posy lived there too and she paid heed to the older girl’s warnings.

However, tonight, she was willing to risk it.

And she was taking Annabel with her for moral support.

It was selfish considering it had been a mere couple days since the incident.

Arden had told her everything that had happened so she spent the last couple days by her side.

In a way she had also been using the situation as her excuse for why she couldn't go see Scarlett. So, they were both hiding from one another but not anymore.

“Have you seen my blue polka dot dress anywhere?” Annabel said as she barged into her room where she sat in front of her mirror applying makeup.

“The one you said you had remade into a mini?”

She nodded.

“No, have you checked your room?”

“Obviously, if I hadn't I would not be here.”

“Just wear something else. You have a million and one clothes in that ginormous wardrobe of yours.”

“I have to wear that one.”

“Why?”

“I just fucking do!” Annabel shouted and stomped her foot, which shocked Harley into slowly putting the eyeliner in her hand down. She turned around in her chair and went to calm the frantic girl down.

Annabel slid down into a crouch and hid her face between her legs. “I’m sorry, I didn't mean to yell.” She breathed in and out. “It’s my favourite to put on during times like these and I think I am just feeling extremely overwhelmed at the idea of being out of the house.”

“Look at me,” Harley said to her and the girl obeyed, lifting her head up to reveal bloodshot eyes and a tired face.

“We don’t have to go to this tonight if you’re not feeling up for it.

Say the word and we’ll get into pajamas and watch The Godfather for the tenth time.

I only ask that we don’t have to sit through the second film.

” Annabel gave her a watery laugh at the lighthearted jab.

“No, I’m fine. I need to leave the house at some point.” Then she smiled, “Besides, you have to go. It’s important to you, and if it's important to you then it is to me too.”

Annabel took a deep breath in and they both got up together. Harley said, “Come on, let's see if we can find some other blue dress for you to put on.”

After the slight panic attack, they got ready in under an hour and drove to the Carney house.

It was situated not too far from the Tate Modern and was quite large.

Scarlett had mentioned how they had knocked down the walls of the houses by its side and made it into a much larger one, it was essentially a mansion.

Nowhere the size of Bishop’s Avenue though.

They walked into the very packed house linking arms and the first person they saw was the Belle of the ball, Lucas.

He was talking to a group of people that she had never seen before but despite her nerves she went up to him regardless.

This would be the first conversation she’d ever have with him alone.

She tapped his shoulder and he turned around, surprise hitting him at her appearance. Anger flooded his face, “What the fuck are you doing at my house?”

Harley held her head high, trying to ignore how scared she was at the moment. “Scarlett. Have you seen her?”

He glared at her a little longer before relenting, with a sigh he answered, “She’s in the back. Fix what you broke, she’s been hell to be around. My guys have been complaining all week.”

He was going to continue until he looked behind her and a smile broke out on his face. It was entirely disconcerting. Unlike the other rare moments she’d seen him smile, this one felt genuine. Harley turned around to see the object of his attention was none other than Annabel.

“I thought I told you not to come back?” he asked.

“When the bloody hell have I ever listened to you?” Annabel responded.

“That’s because you're a brat,” he said to her, a grin on his face. The overfamiliarity stunned Harley, especially the replicated smile on her sister’s face.

“I’m here for her today, I promise.” Raising her head, no longer leaning on the pillar she had been resting against, and nods to Harley.

“How do the two of you know each other?” Harley asked, looking back and forth between the two.

Lucas looks to Annabel, who simply rolled her eyes, before explaining “We’re friends.”

That confused Harley even more, “Friends? You’ve never once mentioned him before.”

“Wow. It’s like I’m nothing to you,” Lucas said, humour written all over his face.

“Shut up,” she said to him, then she looked back to Harley, “He helped me a couple times before that is all, but that’s enough of me, you need to go do what we came here for.” Harley was still a little lost, especially at the way Lucas was gazing down at Annabel with a strange fondness in his eyes.

However, she was right about one thing, Harley did come here for a reason. “Alright, I have to go find her. But I expect an explanation about all this later.”

Annabel nodded.

“Will you be okay on your own?” Harley asked, her eyes flickering to Lucas because she just didn't trust him at all.

“Yes, now go.” She gently pushed her to leave, then pointed to a cheesing Lucas and said, “He can look after me.”

“Hear that? I’m her guardian angel.” Annabel jabbed him in the stomach and he crouched over dramatically in jest. “See, I’m fine. Now, go get your girl.”

“Second door on your left,” Lucas called to her. She turned back to nod her thanks, but he and Annabel had already begun squabbling again. It was utterly bizarre but she did know that Annabel’s charming personality always led her to the most unusual of places.

Harley found her target in the kitchen, Scarlett was talking to Bloss and Jeremiah with a plastic cup in hand. She was in a frilled purple halterneck minidress that complimented her tan skin and her hair was in her natural curls again, she was the prettiest person here by a mile.

Bloss spotted her first and immediately tapped Scarlett by the arm to alert her of her arrival. She turned around and completely froze at the sight of Harley. They stared at one another for a minute without saying a word then Harley moved closer to her.

Bloss and Jere promptly started to exit the room, taking the other stragglers who had been hanging around with them. The former waved before leaving and the latter gave her a wink and a high five. Then it remained just the two of them.

“Hi,” Harley said, some of the bravado she had just minutes ago had dissipated.

“Hey,” Scarlett replied, her eyes wandering everywhere but at Harley. She walked around her to the fridge and got apple juice out. She poured it into a cup and passed it to Harley, “Thanks.”

“Have things been alright at the cafe without me?”

“We managed. How is the princess?”

“She’s alright. I brought her with me actually, left her with your cousin.”

“Luke?”

Harley nodded then revealed what she had found out moments ago, “Apparently they know one another. Friends.” She said the last bit with air quotes.

Scarlett nodded, “He’s always liked her.”

Her brows and lips dipped simultaneously, “You knew about this?”

“We did go to the same secondary school.” Harley knew that much but she felt like there was something being left unsaid. She ignored the voice in the back of her head and tentatively asked, “Can we talk?”. Knowing she couldn’t skirt around the topic any longer.

“About what?”

“Don’t play dumb. We don’t do that with each other.” Harley reprimanded, then she sighed and said. “You kissed me.”

“Yes, I kissed you and you practically ran away like I burned you,” Scarlett gritted out, anger seeping through. “What did you want me to do?”

“I’m sorry I ran. I got a little scared but you have been avoiding me .”

“I wasn't avoiding you,” Scarlett said looking at her drink, “I was giving you space.”

“Everytime we have a disagreement, you pull the same thing. I just want you to talk to me.”

Scarlett rubbed her face with her hands.

“This isn’t a disagreement. You had your sister to deal with and I didn’t want to pressure you into something that you didn’t want.

” Harley lets her continue as she seemed to be leading somewhere, “But the thing is, It’s been driving me fucking crazy.

I hate being apart from you and when we’re not together, all I ever wonder about is what it is you’re doing, who you’re talking to and why I’m not with you.

It’s like you’re etched somewhere in my soul and there was no way to get you out.

“You were avoiding me too and I get it you don’t feel that way about me, not like I do about you. I have had time over the last couple days to accept it. I’m okay with burying it down as long as I have my best friend back,” Scarlett professed, her voice breaking with every word.

“What way?” Harley prompted, wanting her to finish. To finally let out what she had been holding in.

“You said not to play dumb.” She glared at her but Harley kept quiet. Then Scarlett whispered something afterwards but Harley wasn't sure what was said, “You what?”

Then she screamed, “I’m in love with you!”

That she heard and it startled her, but at the same time every piece of the puzzle fell right into place. “You love me?” Harley’s raspy voice softening.

“Of course, I do.” Scarlett replied, her lips in a pout and her brown eyes bigger than they usually were. “Who wouldn’t?”

They were standing less than a foot apart, their bodies moving like magnets, always wanting to be near the other. Then Harley did what she wished she had done as soon as she saw Scarlett, she grabbed her face and kissed her.

Their tongues met, mapping out a tender rhythm, and Harley savoured her soft lips while touching every piece of her that she could.

Waist, breasts and everything in between.

She had always been the taller one so she used this advantage to lift her and she immediately responded by wrapping her legs around her.

Suddenly the vibe shifted from slow and soft to hard and frantic and wanting more. Scarlett had her back rested against the fridge, grinding onto her but feeling restricted by their clothing.

Harley pulled her lips off her and a needy whine escaped Scarlett. “We should go somewhere people can't walk in at any moment,” she said, breathing heavily, nodding to the kitchen entrance that had no door. Even though Scar looked like she was seconds away from ripping her dress apart.

“Come with me.”

She climbed off her and latched their hands together, led her up a flight of stairs until they reached an empty room.

Once inside, Scarlett locked the door and immediately gave her a coy smile, sliding her dress down her body, her underwear still on, before kicking off her heels soon after.

Then she pounced on Harley, resuming kissing her with her hands roaming her breasts.

She took the opportunity to pull off Harley’s top, revealing she wasn’t wearing a bra, then began peppering kisses from her neck all the way down to her chest. Scar circled her tongue around her brown nipples, drawing soft moans from her.

Harley carried them both to the bed, lowering her down as she hovered above her, snapping off her bra and flinging it absentmindedly elsewhere.

Their breasts glided together, their nipples touching; she felt like she could orgasm from the friction alone.

It sent a shiver down her spine. She quickly shed the rest of her clothing and put two fingers in Scar’s mouth, watching with pleasure as she sucked on them.

Harley took those same two fingers and slipped them inside Scarlett, and she arched her back at the insertion, moving to the rhythm of the fingers inside her. She touched her clit, and soon after, Scar came with a sigh and a laugh. Again, she kissed Harley, their naked bodies stirred together.

Scarlett turned Harley around, lifted one of her legs, and aligned their bodies together, slowly rocking against her until she could barely control herself. They both moved faster and faster until they came together, then she dropped down on Harley.

“I love you, too,” Harley said as she kissed her sweaty forehead. Scarlett responded by nuzzling closer, resting her head on her breasts, like if she could, she would burrow herself into Harley’s skin and live there.
