Chapter 15
Willow
“What the fuck?”
I hear the question, but I can’t place the voice. I’m dimly aware of being carried, of strong yet gentle hands holding me protectively. My ear is pressed against a warm body, and a thundering heartbeat thumps wildly beneath it.
“What the hell happened, Levins?”
Hades?
The last thing I clearly remember is being angry that he was brushing me off for something more important than his freedom. I was about to leave the prison, but he grabbed me right before… a riot?
“K.C. happened,” the first voice snaps. “I was hit over the head as soon as I stepped out of the visit room. Knocked unconscious and woke up in a closet. Whoever hit me is a dumbass because they didn’t tie me up or anything.
I came to, and the riot was in full swing, so I focused on getting to the exit, knowing you’d get there at some point. ”
“No clue who knocked you out?”
“I’m guessing K.C., but I don’t know for sure.” There’s a long pause, and then he continues. “Here, put this on her.”
Something is wrapped around me, blocking out the cold.
“Thanks,” Hades says. “I was so focused on getting her away from K.C., Wiley, and Bones that I completely forgot she was naked.”
That one word is all it takes for my eyes to spring open. I flail in Hades’ arms, but he doesn’t let go of me.
“Hey, Princess,” he says casually when my eyes settle on his. “We’ll be at the car in a minute, and I’ll let you go then.”
“Car? What car?”
My thoughts race. Where is Bryant? Did he leave once he realized what was going on, or is he still waiting in the parking lot for me?
“The getaway car,” he clarifies.
I open my mouth to ask more questions, but no words come out. I don’t even know where to start. Hell, I’m not even fully grasping what’s going on.
“Here we are,” Hades says, and I hear a car door open just before he sets me down in the back seat.
When he pulls away, his eyes linger on my chest a little too long.
I wrap the jacket that Levins put around me tighter, suddenly painfully aware of my nudity.
“Fucking hell,” he mutters, leaning back in and reaching into the center console.
Again, he pulls away, and I see the needle in his hand. I kick out, missing him completely as I’m confined in the vehicle.
“Hold her down from the other side, Levins,” Hades barks. “I don’t want her getting hurt.”
I call bullshit!
The back passenger door is yanked open, and hands grab me by the shoulders to hold me in place. I try to fight, but I’m no match for these two.
“This is for your own good,” Hades tells me as he sticks the needle into my neck.
Cold rushes through my veins, and my body becomes heavy.
“What are you giving her?” Levins asks.
“A mild seda…”
The rest of Hades' words trail off as the drug takes full effect, and I slip into unconsciousness.
