Chapter 8

Savannah

W e’re in a bit of a stare off, no one speaking. I think they're in shock.

It’s kind of an awkward moment. Do I speak first? Do I keep standing here? I’m not going to run, because then they would call the cops, and it would become a whole thing.

“So, lovely night, am I right?” I say slowly, rocking forwards and backwards, hands slipping into the pockets of my dress. I wrap my hand around the handle of my knife, ready in case I need to use it. “Good night for a walk.”

They look at each other, and the one with dark brown hair—who looks like he could toss you around the room like a rag doll—cocks a brow. “Is that a... body?”

“A body?” I play dumb and look around. “I don’t see anybody.”

“It’s right at your feet,” he says slowly, pointing to the guy on the ground.

I look down at Rodney’s body and inwardly groan. Listen, if there was ever a time for magic to be real, right now would have been nice. Couldn’t someone have done me a solid and poofed his body out of existence? “Oh him.” I blow out a breath, waving a hand in a dismissive way. “He’s just had one too many drinks.” I laugh, raising my hand to make a drinking motion. “Real boozer, this one. Can’t handle his liquor. I was just helping him out to my car to give him a ride home.”

The guys don’t look convinced. Why the fuck not? I think I sounded pretty convincing. I mean, apart from the fact that his face is a mangled mess, it could have very much been true.

Another guy with black hair and a leather jacket sighs heavily. “It’s supposed to be my night off. Now I have to deal with this?” I watch as he reaches behind his back and pulls out a gun.

Ah fuck. This man is a cop. That's it. I’m dead. I’m totally fucked.

No, Savvy, we don’t give up, okay. Think fast. We can get out of this.

The guy starts walking towards me. “Hands where I can see them,” he commands.

Alright, Savvy, time to play the innocent Omega card. Time for these big baby blues to come in handy.

Doing as I’m told, I reluctantly let go of my blade and slowly pull my hands out of my pockets, holding them over my head. If he gets close enough, I can quickly get to my blade if need be and stab him in the neck.

Licking my lips, I let my lower lip tremble, forcing my eyes to fill with tears. “It’s not what it looks like, Officer. I swear.” I lay it on thick. “He was a bad, bad man. I didn’t do anything.”

He looks me over like he doesn’t believe me, then down at the man on the ground. “Fucking hell. What happened to his face?”

“He was shit at sucking dick, that's what,” I mutter under my breath, dropping the act for a second before I slip back into character. Okay, so maybe acting isn’t my strongest suit, but sue me for not finding time for acting lessons while being locked up.

I’m not wrong. The pussy couldn’t even handle a blade.

I bet this man could. He would look so pretty in red.

The closer he gets, the better look I get of him. Fucking hell, this man is so damn fine.

The wind blows softly towards me, and I moan. The strong scent of sandalwood and leather swirls around in my nose. It’s so strong that it has my clit pulsing, belly cramping, and... did I piss myself?

I have no idea what the fuck is going on, but I feel the whole world spin. If I were to ask nicely, do you think he would forget about the dead body and fuck me against the wall? The officer stops and tilts his head to the side. “Did you just moan? Are you okay?”

“Okay?” I laugh, clamping my thighs together as I try not to sway on my feet. What the fuck is going on with me right now? “Depends. Am I okay if I have the urge to shove you to the ground, rip your pants down, and ride your dick like it’s my own personal dildo?”

There’s cursing coming from behind him; a few fucking hells and a what the fuck?

The officer, though? He just grins at me, and yup, there goes my pussy again. I can feel wetness running down my leg.

“You're crazy, aren't you?” he chuckles, shaking his head.

“I’ve been told that. But I don’t see it.” I shrug, arms hurting from having them raised for so long.

He gets closer, the gun still pointed at me. “Did you kill this man?”

“No,” I lie.

He raises a brow. “So you didn’t turn him into the Joker?”

“Nope. He did that all on his own,” I lie again, trying not to squirm. But damn it! I’m so horny.

“Did he kill himself, too? Because, sorry, babe, that man isn’t drunk. I know a dead body when I see one.”

I let out a heavy sigh. Lowering my arms, I cross them over my chest, needing my hands closer to my pocket. Thankfully, he doesn’t react to my change in position.

“I don’t know what to tell you.” I glare at him. If he thinks I’m going to out right tell him, a cop, that I killed this man, then he’s stupid.

“The truth,” he counters, cocking his head to the other side.

“I just did.” I raise a brow. “I said I wanted to shove you to the ground and ride your dick. What more do you want from me?”

“Just arrest the girl already and get this over with, Caleb. She’s clearly unstable.” I glare at the man behind Caleb. He’s older-looking, a silver fox for sure. He’s glaring at me with this sexy, broody, pissed off look.

“Hey,” I snap. “No one asked for your opinion. Shh.” His eyes widen. I look back to the cop, Caleb, I guess his name is, and bite my lip, smiling. “You don’t have to listen to your friend.” I bat my eyelashes. “How about we just go our own ways and pretend nothing happened, okay?”

Caleb lets out a low rumbling growl that has my nipples hardening against my bra and pussy clenching as a low whimper slips free . Well, that's new. Either I’m pissing myself like a damn baby, or this is what it’s like to slick. I can feel it gushing from my pussy, there’s so much of it. The officer’s nostrils flare, pupils dilating.

He lowers the gun, stepping closer. My breath catches in my throat as my pulse races.

I’m frozen, unable to look away from his captivating blue eyes. He reaches out and wraps his hand around my neck. If it were anyone else, that move would have gotten them killed, but this Alpha? I find myself leaning into his touch.

My breathing comes out in quick pants, and I find myself wanting to fuse my body to his. I’m not me, I have no idea what the fuck is going on. But his touch feels so good. I want his hands all over me.

“Mine.” The way he says the word has me ready to drop to my knees.

“I’ll be whatever you want me to be,” I sigh wistfully.

“Caleb, what the fuck are you doing?” one of the guys shouts.

Caleb ignores them. “You’re so fucking perfect.” He grins, eyes running over my face. His words make my belly warm. He licks his lips, taking a step back, and looks down at the dead body. “Question.”

“Okay?” I say breathlessly.

“Did he deserve it?” His eyes come back up to mine.

“Huh?” I blink, trying to clear the fog from my mind. I’ve never been affected by an Alpha like this before. At least, not unless I was in heat. And I know for a fact I’m not. Wait... am I? Shit, could I be hallucinating. Wouldn’t be the first time my mind made me see things or feel things that weren’t real.

“The dead guy behind you. Did he deserve it?” he asks, eyes boring into mine.

I nod. “Yes.”

“Well, that's all I needed to know. Need help getting rid of the body?” he asks, stunning the fuck out of me.

“What?” I narrow my eyes.

“I can help. I know a few different ways. I have a lair.” He winks.

Okay, I'm definitely hallucinating. Is this cop really asking to help me get rid of a body? Shouldn’t he be slapping cuffs on me and taking me to jail?

“Caleb!” someone snaps. We both look over to see the sexy one with daddy vibes coming closer. “What the fuck are you doing? Are you fucking crazy?”

“Yes,” Caleb answers, smiling.

I grin. “Hey, me too!” I say excitedly, and he grins wider.

“Fuck yes, you are,” he groans, leaning in to run his nose along the side of my jaw. “You smell so fucking good. I want to eat you right up.”

“Okay,” I breathe.

“Caleb!” someone barks, yanking him off me. He grabs Caleb’s shoulders and shakes him. “What the fuck has gotten into you? There’s a dead body on the ground with a girl standing next to it, and you're over here ready to bend her over and have your way with her.”

“Really?” I look at Caleb wide-eyed before they lower in lust. I bite my lip and twirl a piece of hair around my finger.

“What is wrong with you?” the man asks me.

I frown. “A lot. But right now, you're killing my buzz. You're being a cock blocker. Not cool.”

He just blinks at me, like I have three heads. I tend to get that look, a lot.

“I–I don’t even know what to say to you,” he mutters. “I’m calling the cops.”

“Why? One is right there.” I point to Caleb.

“And he’s clearly out of his fucking mind. What did you do to him?” he demands.

“Me? I didn’t do anything!” I shout. “He’s the one who’s sniffing me like a horny dog.” Not like I’m any better. I wanna bury my face into his neck and get a good sniff.

My nostrils flare as I sniff the air, a new smell filling my nose. It’s not as impactful as Caleb, but that's because this man is a Beta. He smells of licorice and vanilla, and my pussy doesn’t hate it. I bite my lip, eyeing him up. Who knew I had a thing for older men? Because I wouldn’t say no if he asked for a turn after Caleb.

“Stop looking at me like that,” he snaps.

“Like what?” I ask.

“Like you want to eat me.”

I give him a slow grin. “I know something I’d like to eat.”

“Crazy fuckers,” he mutters grabbing his phone.

He goes to call 911, but Caleb snatches the phone out of his hand. “No,” he growls.

“Caleb!” The man gets in his face.

“You will not call the fucking cops,” Caleb says in a low and dangerous tone. It should have me on edge, but nope, just makes me more aroused.

“Why the fuck not?!” the Beta demands, his face growing red with anger and confusion.

“Because she’s my mate.” The words leave his lips, and my eyes snap over to his.

The older man pauses, his own eyes going wide. “Fuck!” he curses, taking a step back. He runs his hands through his hair, grabbing at the strands.

“Hold the fuck up.” I look over to see the guy with dark brown hair walking towards us. My eyes flick past him to see the tallest of them all standing back. He stares at me like he’s seen a ghost, and I frown. I don’t get a chance to think too much about it before the other guy steps up to us. “Did you just say she’s your mate?”

“Yes.” I watch as Caleb’s face shifts from murderous to excited. “Isn't it amazing!”

“Amazing? Your scent match is a killer,” the guy deadpans, looking over at me with curiosity.

“Walker, don’t be rude. She said the man deserved it.”

Walker snorts. “Oh, then yes, let's believe the random stranger. Did you ever stop to think she’s lying?”

“Hey!” I huff, crossing my arms. “I’m a lot of things, but I’m not a liar.”

He swings his gaze back to me, arching a brow. “Really? Because I remember asking you if there was a dead body behind you and you lied your ass off.”

I snort. “Well, I wasn’t just going to outright admit I killed the man.”

“So you did kill him?” Walker narrows his eyes.

“Nope. You're not going to get me with that one.” I shake my head.

“You already admitted it to Caleb,” Walker argues.

“No, he asked, ‘did the man deserve to die’. I said yes, stating he was, in fact, dead and deserved to be so. I didn’t say I was the one to kill him.” I roll my eyes.

“Listen here, you little–” he takes a step closer but pauses. I watch as his nostrils flare. He lets out a growl, and my body reacts just like it did to Caleb. “No,” he says in a strained voice. “It can’t be.”

That’s when the scent of honey and clove fills my nose, making my pussy weep like a fucking waterfall again. My mind goes cloudy, and I whimper.

“Fuck yes!” Caleb cheers excitedly. “She’s your scent match too, isn’t she?”

Walker says nothing, eyes boring into mine, jaw locked as his nostrils continue to flare. He steps forward; I step back. I forget there was a dead body behind me, and I trip over it. A squeal leaves my lips, and I expect to go flying backwards.

Chest heaving, I wait to hit the ground, but I don’t. Peeking an eye open, I look up into a set of warm brown eyes. He pulls me to my feet, making sure I’m steady. “Thanks.” I laugh, trying to ignore the burning urge to bend over and present my ass to these men.

Holy fuck, I had no idea being an Omega around a pack of Alphas would turn me into some sort of sex crazed maniac.

Okay, I had somewhat of an idea; I’d done the research not long after I got to Salvation. After reading up on it, I was convinced I was broken. Sure, the drugs Corbin gave me fucked up my system, giving him the power to control my body. But I’ve been around Alphas since that stuff cleared my body, and I've never felt like this.

“What the fuck do we do now?” Walker snaps. “We can not be scent matched to a damn fucking killer.”

“Why not?” Caleb frowns.

It’s only now that it’s hit me. The way I’m feeling, the way we’re all acting. Mates. Scent matches. Holy fucking shit balls, these men are mine! My Alphas. The Alphas that the universe hand picked just for me.

I thought it would never happen, that it was all just a fairytale dream.

But I can’t deny the way my body reacts to them, like it knows who it belongs to.

The idea of belonging to anyone should piss me off. Corbin made it clear I was his property, and every time he did that, I wanted to wrap my hands around his neck. I didn’t belong to him. No matter how much power he held over me. I never gave myself to him willingly.

But these men? The idea doesn’t make me want to hurt them. I have no idea who they are, but every cell in my body is screaming that they are mine.

Chill out, Savvy. Don’t get too excited. They might be your scent matches, but we still might have to kill them.

If they’re going to turn me in, or even make the attempt to, I’m going to have to end them. I meant it when I said I won’t let anyone or anything get in my way.

Even if it means walking away from the one dream that kept me going all those years alone. Nothing and no one will get in my way of getting my revenge, even my mates.

“You're joking, right?” Walker gapes at him. “She killed a man.”

“Still not proven.” I step in.

Walker glares at me. “If we get a team in here, I’d bet they would find your DNA all over it.”

“Maybe.” I shrug. “But that doesn’t mean he didn’t deep throat that knife willingly all on his own.”

He frowns. “What the fuck are you talking about.”

“Never mind.” I wave him off. “You had to have been there.”

“What's your name?” the older one asks.

“What's yours?”

“Leroy,” he answers.

“Nice to meet you, Leroy.” I hold out my hand, and he actually takes it. “I’m Barney.”

Leroy snorts, a small smile forming on his lips. “Like the dinosaur?”

“The one and only.” I wink.

“Okay, enough with this bullshit,” Walker growls.

“He’s right.” Caleb turns to me. “How can we help?”

“Help!” Walker shouts. “Caleb, I swear to god I’ll have you committed, and this time it won’t be a threat, but a promise.”

While they argue, I take a step away and pull my phone out. I’m not going to run. I can’t leave the body with them. I need to make sure all of this is taken care of.

Dialing Duchess, I put the phone up to my ear. My eyes glance over to find the tallest Alpha watching me. He still looks like he’s going to be sick. Guess dead bodies aren't his thing. That’s okay, it’s not for everyone. I won’t judge him.

“Savvy, are you okay?”

“We have a bigger issue,” I murmur, still looking at the Alpha. He’s cute, dressed in jeans and a maroon hoodie with a beanie.

“The crew is held up. Cops are nearby. They should be there any minute now. I managed to get someone to interfere with the wife. He got her away from the building and back in her car before sending her on her way. But I don’t know what's going on with you, there's no cameras in the back alley. Tell me everything’s okay.”

“I wish you would stop asking that,” I sigh heavily, then remember the good news. “Oh my god!” I gasp. “You would never believe what just happened.”

“Who are you talking to?” Walker asks. I wave my hand at him to get him to be quiet.

“Savvy, who’s that?”

“My mate,” I say with pride.

“You're what?” she screams over the phone.

“My mate,” I repeat, pulling the phone away from my face to look down at it. I have a strong reception. Did she not hear me somehow?

“I know what you said,” she growls.

“Oh, good,” I sigh. “Thought there was a bad connection.”

“Savvy, please tell me what you mean by your mate.”

“Oh right.” I laugh. “Okay, so you're never going to believe it,” I start to tell her what happened before I look over to find all of them watching me. Alright Savvy, play it cool. No giving yourself away.

“I was out here, waiting for our... friends,” I say. “And a pack of guys walked by. They stopped to see if I needed any help.” Not a lie, exactly. “And, well, I took one whiff of them and my pussy cried like I was watching The Notebook . You said that's how you know, right?”

Caleb chuckles, watching me with adoration, and I fucking swoon. Me! I swoon. “Fucking hell,” Duchess curses. “Do not let your vagina do the thinking!”

“Why not?” I pout. “Her thoughts seem pretty damn good to me.”

“Did they call the cops? Stay put, I’m on my way. Fucking hell, Savvy.”

“It’s okay. No one called the cops.”

“Still debating on it,” Walker mutters, and I glare at him, flipping him off. He looks at me with surprise.

“Here's the kicker.” I laugh. “One of them is a cop!”

“What!” she shrieks. “Oh my god, Savvy, you say nothing. Keep your mouth shut.”

“It’s okay. He said he would help me hide the body. I mean, I don’t need any help because... our friends. But come on, how fucking sweet is he for offering?” I sigh wistfully.

“Wait... he offered to help?”

“Yup,” I say proudly.

“Savvy, what's the police officer's name?”

“Ahh, Caleb,” I say, looking at the man in question.

She’s quiet for a moment.

“Who is she talking to?” Leroy asks.

“How the fuck would I know?” Caleb responds with a shrug.

“I’m going to need a drink. Nope, a whole fucking bottle after this,” Walker mutters as he starts to pace. He looks so sexy when he’s all worked up.

“What's his last name?”

“I don’t know.” I frown, I look at Caleb. “Babe, what's your last name?”

“Holloway,” Caleb answers.

“Fucking hell, Caleb!” Walker stops his pacing to swing an angry gaze to his pack member. “You freely give her our last name.”

Caleb just shrugs. “No lies between me and my Omega, Walker. You're going to have to learn that fast if you want a stable and healthy relationship.”

“Stable?!” Walker snorts as he continues to pace again. “Nothing about this is stable.”

“Is the man talking named Walker?” she asks.

“Yes...” I say slowly.

“Are there other men with them? One named Leroy, the other Jake?”

I’m not sure about Jake, but she’s right about Leroy. I look over to the man who’s still standing from afar, watching. Is he Jake?

“Wait, hold up, how do you know my pack’s names?” I growl, feeling suddenly defensive and possessive.

“Relax, Savvy,” she warns. “Put Caleb on the phone.”

“Okay...” I hold the phone out to Caleb. “She wants to talk to you.”

He looks at the phone. “Who’s she?”

“Answer and find out,” I taunt him.

He brings the phone up to his ear. I’m not sure how, but I know Duchess knows these men. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. “Hello?”

I can’t hear what's going on on the other end, but I see Caleb’s eyes go wide. “Daphne?” he hisses.

I watch as the other two men pause, eyes going wide also. They look over to me.

Leroy steps forward, frowning. “Something you wanna tell us, Little Monster?”

I shouldn’t feel all gooey inside at the name, but I do.

“Nope,” I say, swallowing hard as he steps closer.

“Are you sure about that?” he asks, reaching out to tuck a piece of my hair behind my ear. “Seems like we know some of the same people.”

“Seems so,” I whisper, my words shaky.

The sound of footsteps has everyone pausing. We look over to see some men make their way into the alley on the other side of where these Alphas found me. They pause when they see us. It’s the clean-up crew.

“It’s okay, boys.” I wave them over. “Don’t mind them. Go on and do your jobs.”

They look at each other before pulling out their phone. They talk to someone for a second before one of them speaks to the others, then they all move forward.

We step away from the body, and Walker frowns. “So, that's it? We let these men take this body and pretend like we saw nothing?”

“Yes,” Caleb says, handing me back my phone.

“And why the fuck are we going to do that?” Walker growls.

“Because she’s with Duchess.” Caleb grins over at me. Really, this man’s smile makes me want to do naughty things. “So, wanna fill me in on how you and my baby sister are besties?”
