Chapter 35
Walker
I f you asked me a few months ago what my life would have looked like at this point in time, my answer wouldn’t be anywhere close to what it is now.
Savannah has been with us for nearly two months now, and I can speak for my whole pack when I say that our lives are better than they’ve ever been.
I’ve gone so much of my life with the mindset of never wanting to have an Omega. That I didn’t need one or they didn’t fit in with my life.
And while it’s not easy with my job because of the hours and the time I have to be away from my Omega and my daughter, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
She’s perfect for our pack, exactly what we needed.
Today is my first day off in over a week, and I plan on taking Savannah out.
She’s never been to Santa Monica Pier before but she’s talked about how much she’s wanted to go.
Since joining our pack, her time has been pretty preoccupied with sex. Not that she’s complaining. And when she wasn’t lost in the lust of post-bonding bliss, she was... working.
Yeah, let’s go with working because referring to what it really is, murdering people, is still something I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to.
Honestly, life has been so normal, I sometimes forget that's what she even does.
Okay, not normal. Life will never be normal. Savannah is far from normal, but that‘s the main reason why we love her so much.
She’s random, funny, and out there, but she’s also kind, loving, and an amazing mom to a daughter who’s not hers by blood. However, you would never be able to tell by the way she’s just accepted Athena as her own.
Savannah keeps our lives interesting. We will never have to worry about there being a dull moment.
Slipping on some fresh clothes after my shower, I head downstairs in search of my Little Killer.
“Where’s Savvy?” I ask, grabbing a muffin from the plate. Leroy has been baking all morning, and fuck, these are really good.
“She’s out back with Thor,” Jake answers me.
Turning around, I lean back against the counter. I can’t remember the last time it was just the four of us in a room together.
“How are all of you doing?” I ask out of the blue.
Leroy looks over at me while Jake looks up from his book, and Caleb puts down his phone.
“What do you mean?” Jake asks, brows furrowed.
“It’s been almost two months since our lives have been flipped upside down. We went from being newly single dads to a mated pack with an Omega, and now our baby girl is six months old. So much has happened in a short amount of time; it feels like we blinked and here we are today.”
They all continue to stare at me, and I sigh, rolling my eyes. “Okay, let’s start with you?” I ask Leroy. “How are you feeling about retirement?”
“Ahh...” He rubs the back of his head, leaning back against the counter like me. “Good? Honestly, it’s going a lot better than I thought it would. I was nervous at first, you know? I spent my whole life being busy with work, and hardly had any downtime. I liked the consistent go-go-go of life. The idea of going from having a full life to not doing anything at all was terrifying.”
“I could see that.” I nod.
“But that’s just the thing. I’m never bored. Every day I wake up, and my time is filled by something.” He smiles. “Spending time with our little girl, watching her grow and learn new things every day. I have things around the house to do when the baby is sleeping. Or I have Savannah to spend time with when she’s home. Same goes for when you guys are home. Do I miss working? Sometimes. But the life I have now? It’s perfect. I couldn’t imagine anything else.”
“Watching you fall in love—” I chuckle. “Has been amazing to see.”
Leroy grins, looking down at the ground. “I really thought I wasn’t gonna have that in my life. Love, I mean. It was fucking depressing.” He laughs, running a hand over his salt and pepper hair. “It would have been a real shame to waste a life and die alone. I guess I was just waiting for Savannah to make her way into our lives. It was worth the wait.”
I know what he means. We all do.
“How about you?” I ask Caleb.
“Me?” Leaning back in his chair, he places his feet up on the table, a smug smile taking over his face. “You already know how I’m doing. I’m living my best life. It’s perfect. Everything I could have asked for and more.”
Caleb was never looking for love. Always the kind of person who said if it happens it happens but didn’t stress on it. He had his fun, did his job, and lived his life. But I’ve seen how much he’s grown as a person since Savannah has come into his life.
Caleb grew up in a life that was anything but conventional. His father was in a position a lot like his sister, Daphne. Mafia ties of sorts. Passed down by his grandfather.
Only his father died while his kids were still young. But not before fucking his children up in different ways.
They’ve taken what they were given and made the best of it, though.
A mafia queen who kills men who were exactly like him, and a crooked cop of sorts, or an undercover agent. I bet he's rolling in his grave now.
“I assumed as much.” I chuckle.
My eyes shift over to Jake. “And you? How are you doing with all of this.”
Jake blows out a breath and leans back in his seat. He shrugs. “Sometimes it feels like a dream. I’ve spent years stuck in a nightmare, believing that I’d never see her again. The pain I’ve felt at her loss can’t be put into words.” He gives us a sad smile. “Does it suck that she doesn’t remember the life we had before? Yeah, sometimes. But it doesn’t matter because I’ll take any version of Savannah I’m blessed to have, because it’s her. All versions are just as amazing as the next. I still see glimpses of my teenage best friend. Her drive, her sass, her big, kind heart.” He grins. “I have everything I’ve been dreaming about with her. And I’m beyond blessed. I try not to think about her past and everything she’s been through because she doesn't allow it to control her life or affect it in any way. But it’s not always easy. Sometimes thoughts of what happened to her pop into my head, and I want to cry, scream, and break things.”
He swallows hard. “But then I hear her laugh, see her smile, and I’m reminded of where she is now. With us. She’s happy, loved, and taken care of. She’s living the life she was always meant to have. If we focus on what’s happened to her, it’s going to interfere with how we treat her, and I know Savannah. She wouldn’t want that.”
“Couldn’t have said it better myself.” I nod my head.
“How about you?” Jake asks. “This is a big change for you, too.”
“It is. But in the best way.” I smile.
“Not so hell bent on being a bachelor anymore, huh?” Caleb grins.
“Helps that Savannah isn't a gold digger or a power hungry Omega,” I point out. “It wasn’t that I didn’t want to be in a relationship. It’s that I wanted someone who saw me, not what I could offer them. Yes, Savannah is my scent match, and I’d want her no matter what. But knowing she couldn’t give a shit about the money I have or who my family is means the world to me.”
“Does she even know anything about you? Like who your family is, or how much you're worth.” Caleb asks, echoing my thoughts.
“Maybe?” I shrug. “I’ve never brought it up, and she's never asked. But knowing Savannah, I bet she’s done an internet search on all of us.”
“Not much to find on me,” Jake says.
“Not true,” Caleb responds. “I’ve searched your name. You pop up in a few articles about Savannah and her disappearance.”
Jake's face falls. “Fuck.” His eyes widen. “Her father. He doesn’t know she’s alive. Oh my god. How have we not even thought to tell him?”
“Because we can't,” I answer. “Corbin and his men think she’s dead. If Savannah starts telling people who she really is, then it’s going to draw unwanted attention. She can’t do what needs to be done if Corbin knows she's alive. When he’s taken care of, Savannah can be the one to tell him, if she chooses to.”
“What if she never remembers him?” Caleb asks. “Or you.” He looks at Jake.
“I don’t care if she never remembers her past or anyone in it,” he says. “I just care about having her. As for her dad, I don’t know. I don’t think that would be an issue for him; I think he would just care that she’s made it out alive. He loves her a lot. The downfall of everything he’s built is proof of that.”
“It’s so fucked up. How did we just easily slip into this white picket fence life when there’s much deeper, darker parts out there?”
“Wait.” Caleb frowns. “What about our families?”
“What about them?” Leroy asks.
“What do we tell them? I mean, my siblings already know everything, so that’s not an issue. And my parents are gone, so again, nothing to worry about on my end. But Jake’s parents can’t meet her, they will know who she is. Your mom and sisters have been hounding you to meet the new Omega in your life. And you.” Caleb looks at Leroy.
“Nothing to worry about for me,” he grumbles. “I hardly speak to my parents, and I can’t stand my brother.”
Much like me, Leroy grew up in the world of wealth. His family is made up of rich, stuffy country club people who only care about money and what people think about them. They’ve always looked down on Leroy for not becoming something like a doctor or lawyer but choosing to go into the military instead. In their words, it was barbaric and not practical. Yeah, because risking his life for his country isn’t important or anything like that. I hate his family.
I might come from money, but at least my family are decent people. Amazing people, really. My dad is a bit of a hard-ass and we might not get along the best, but I know he loves me. I’m close with my mom and sisters, that's why it’s been so hard to keep Savannah away from them.
They’re the people who watch Athena when we need a hand. They haven’t seen the baby since the day I dropped her off for a few hours when we went to grab Savannah’s things to move her into our place.
“We tell them we met her on a walk. It was fate. Our scents found one another, everything snapped into place, and the rest is history,” I suggest.
“What if they ask what she does for a living?” Leroy asks.
“She’s a stay-at-home mom?” I offer. “I mean, it’s not that far from the truth.”
“Yeah, when she’s not out slicing and dicing people up, she’s here with you and Little Bug.” Caleb nods, saying it so casually.
That's what our lives have become. It’s weird.
“Okay.” Jake nods. “Yeah, we can do that. As for my parents, we just don’t tell them. I’m not close with them anyways.”
I hate that for him. But he says he’s used to it. Still doesn’t change the fact that they can so easily give up on their child, their own bullshit getting in the way. He’s better off without them. We’re his real family anyway.
“Speaking of your sisters,” Caleb tells me. “Your mom called while you were in the shower. I told her we would come over tonight for supper.”
“You what?” I hiss. “What the fuck, man?”
“Your mom said she was going to make lasagna!” He throws his hands up in the air. “You damn well know I can’t say no to her lasagna. It’s fucking amazing. And she gave me a guilt trip about never seeing her grandbaby anymore, growing up so fast, and she's missing everything."
“Fine,” I mutter. “But I’m taking Savvy out for the day first. I have everything already planned.”
“Where?” Caleb's eyes light up.
“No.” I point to him. “She’s mine for the day.”
He pouts. “You're no fun.”
“Don’t start with me. I’ve hardly had time with her this week.”
“Fine,” he huffs. “Just abandon me. Whatever.”
“Drama queen,” Jake snorts.
“Just for that, you're not my best friend anymore.” Caleb glares at him.
“What are you, one of my second graders?" Jake laughs.
“If I had to be one, I’d pick Carter. That kid is awesome,” Caleb says.
Jake’s face falls. Every time Jake has brought up Carter, my heart broke for the kid. I saw the pain in his eyes, knowing there wasn’t much he could do for him.
But I hope he understands he already does so much. That safe place he gives that little boy could be enough to change his whole world.
“T hor!” Savvy shouts as I walk towards where Thor’s outside mini-palace is. Leroy really did go all out and built him a pretty epic place to live. Looks like a child’s playhouse on crack.
A little gray ball of fur comes rushing by with something hanging from his mouth.
“Thor, please. Those are his favorite,” Savvy begs.
I stop and cross my arms, an amused look on my face as I watch my Omega try to reason with a raccoon.
Thor chitters and Savvy sighs.
“I know you hate when he calls you that. But you're not very nice to him either.” Thor chitters some more, and Savvy gasps. “You take that back!” Thor makes more noises and Savvy grows pissed off. “I’m going to wash that mouth out with soap, young man!”
Rolling my lips together, I try to smother my snort of laughter. That's my Omega, everyone, having a full-on argument with a raccoon as if he can talk back. She says he can, so who am I to argue? I’m not looking to get stabbed.
My eyes widen as I see Thor put down what he has in his mouth. It’s Caleb’s very rare, very expensive collector's sneaker.
“No, no, no!” I shout as Thor steps over it and then pisses in it. “Fucking hell.”
“Thor!” Savvy shouts in horror. Thor takes off running, leaving the shoe behind. Savvy rushes over and picks up the shoe, tips it over, and watches as pee runs from it. “He’s going to kill me.”
“He’s not going to do anything to you,” I say. Savvy looks up at me with tears in her eyes. It fucking guts me.
“Why can’t they just get along?” she sighs heavily, letting the shoe drop to the ground. “They hate each other and I hate that they do because it sucks. I love them both, I don’t want to see them at each other's throats all the time.”
“Maybe they just need a little bonding time,” I suggest, stepping up to her and wrapping my arms around her, pulling her to my chest. “Maybe if they work out their differences, they can learn to get along. Maybe not best friends or anything, but enough to make you happy.”
“You think?” She sniffles, looking up at me with big blue eyes that could convince me to do anything.
“If we think of a good plan, I think so.”
“Okay.” She wraps her arms around me, snuggling her face into my chest. I grin as she scent marks me. She does it to us all, any chance she gets.
We were out for ice cream the other day, and a girl was looking at us. Savvy looked her dead in the eyes and rubbed her cheek all over Caleb. Like full-on feel up. Caleb was in heaven, cocky smirk and all.
I don’t think the girl was looking at us because she was checking Caleb out, I think it was the fact that Savvy left hickeys all over Caleb’s neck... and face. Yup, right on his cheeks and forehead.
At this point, I know better and just let Savvy do her thing.
It’s adorable, and I never complain when she gets all possessive.
Since the day at the firehouse, Savvy started coming by more often. She brings me lunch when I’m stuck at the station on the rare occasion we’re not out putting out a fire.
There’s been more fires the past month than we’ve seen all damn year.
Mind you, one of them was caused by Savvy, but my boss and the police don’t know that. Well, Caleb does, but he covered that up.
It was one of Savvy’s victims from her personal list. I guess he was the driver of the vehicle that was used to transport her when Corbin originally took her. How she found that out, no idea.
But I guess the kill went wrong. It was supposed to look like he committed suicide, but Thor went into the basement doing whatever the hell he does on those outings with her, and found out there were two women locked up in his basement.
She lost it, rightfully so.
I wasn’t there at the scene of the crime but based on how much blood she was covered in and the finger Thor was gnawing on like a piece of beef jerky, I’d say it was a blood bath.
Savvy was supposed to get her clean-up crew to do their thing while she got the girls to Daphne. But as Savvy was getting them out, the place went up into flames. Like it exploded.
Turns out he was making meth in his basement too.
When we got home that night, I was tired, covered in soot, and could have slept the entirety of the following week away.
Savvy walked in, big grin on her face, no trace of the blood from before, and said, “Did you see me? I was waving at you from the tree line.”
Did I see my bloody little psychopath waving to me like Pennywise the clown and that severed arm from It ?
Yeah, I did. Something I don’t think I’m going to be able to get out of my head.
Then she said. “I stayed and watched you for a bit. Seeing you in action got me all hot and bothered.” I was too tired to even move, but I sure did enjoy the way she rode my cock until she put me in a coma that night.
“Walker,” Savvy’s voice is husky. “Your pheromones are coming off you in waves.” She moans as she rubs herself all over me like a cat in heat. My cock perks up, shooting to full attention.
“Sorry,” I groan when she grips my cock over my jeans. “I got lost in thought.”
She takes a step back and grins at me wickedly. “It better have been about me.”
She bites her lip, and a growl rumbles in my chest. I want her so fucking bad right now. “Always,” I rasp.
Licking her lips, she strokes me through my jeans, making me grunt and thrust my hips against her hold. “I can take care of this.”
“Yeah?” I ask, reaching out to brush some of her hair behind her ear. “You wanna be a good girl and get on your knees for me.”
“Yes,” she moans, eyes fluttering closed.
“Get on your knees, Savvy.” I let my hand fall to her neck, wrapping around it and adding just the right amount of pressure. “Take my cock out and suck it down this pretty little throat for me like a good little Omega.”
She whimpers and drops to her knees without any hesitation. Her eagerness as she quickly pulls me out of my jeans and strokes my dripping cock has me fucking feral.
Wrapping her lips around my tip, she sucks hard, lapping the pre-cum up. “Fucking hell,” I groan as I watch her take me all the way to the back of her throat.
With a growl, I grab a handful of her hair and start fucking her face.
Something we found out about Savvy is that she loves being used. She likes it rough.
We were uneasy at first, not sure if we wanted to do so after knowing what she’s been through, but after she explained that this is what she wants, that she’s in control and wants to take that part back for herself, none of us were able to deny her.
The only ones who are dominant are Leroy and myself. Savvy is more of the aggressor with the other two. They like it that way better.
But me? I love seeing her like this. Vulnerable and at my mercy. She loves and trusts me enough to know that I won’t ever take it too far, or take advantage of her. That at any moment, if she wants to stop, we stop.
I fuck her face hard, my body trembling with need as I lose myself in those eyes of hers. She looks up at me like I’m her damn hero, and it’s like a hand wraps around my heart and squeezes tight. She gags a little, drool dripping down her cheeks, eyes filling with tears as she moans around my cock, the vibration pushing me to the edge. “Look at you,” I growl. “A queen on her knees. You look so fucking beautiful with my cock in your mouth. I’m gonna cum, Little Killer. I want you to be a good girl and swallow every last thing I give you. Understand me?”
She moans, nodding her head, and I let go. Holding her head down, her lips pressing against my knot, I fall over the edge of ecstasy. “Fuck!” I roar as my cock pulses down her throat. Savvy takes it all, eagerly swallowing everything that I give her.
When I have nothing left, I pull back with a heaving chest. “Such a good girl,” I praise, voice low and raspy. I cup her face and she opens her mouth, showing me a little bit of my cum that’s pooled on her tongue. She grins when I groan, the sight making my cock twitch, getting ready for round two before she even swallows. Gripping my cock, I tap it against her lips. “What do you say?” I ask with a growl.
“Thank you, Sir,” she purrs before tucking my cock away for me.
This woman is everything and more.
“A re you going to tell me where we are?” Savvy asks for the millionth time as I search for parking.
“No,” I say, chuckling when she huffs in annoyance.
“You're no fun.” She pouts.
“Not what you were saying a moment ago.” I grin over at her.
My girl is into road head. Did we almost crash? Yes, but fuck, it was worth it.
Finally, we find a parking spot. Savvy is out of the car as soon as I shut it off.
“Would you wait up, woman?” I laugh, realizing she’s caught on to where we are. Kind of hard to miss the giant Ferris wheel.
“No way!” she shouts back, full-on running now. “Come on. Let’s go!”
Laughing, I jog to catch up with her.
“I take it that you’re excited?”
She grins up at me with childlike glee. “Excited! We’re at Santa Monica Pier.” She jumps into my arms and grabs my face between her hands before kissing me hard. “I fucking love you.”
She’s off of me just as fast, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards it like a kid ready to go to Disneyland.
Shit, that's another place we should be taking her to. How the hell have none of us thought of that?
Soon.
For the next few hours, I let Savvy pull me along. We ride the ferris wheel and roller coaster, both have Savvy looking like she’s in heaven. We go on each of those a good handful of times. Then we play some games and Jake wasn’t wrong, Savvy does not like to lose and made me keep playing until she won.
We’re leaving now, Savvy’s arms full of teddies she won, her fingers laced with mine.
I’m smiling down at her, unable to take my eyes off her as she talks a mile a minute, telling me about all the movies she’s seen with places like this in them and how it’s so much better in person.
With every public outing, Savvy adapts to the real world more and more.
She’s gone from experiencing the world through a captive person's eyes to someone who is just enjoying her firsts.
It makes me want to give her the world, just to keep that smile on her face.
As we walk past one of the stands we were at before, I find the same group of girls that were there when we were there the first time.
Savvy didn’t notice them, thank god. She was too distracted by all the candy choices she could pick from.
But I did. And I didn’t like it.
They clearly saw I was there with my Omega, but that didn’t stop them from checking me out. It made me feel gross. I don’t want other women's attention. The only woman I want looking at me is right here next to me.
I’m not stupid, I know I’m attractive. Savvy says I’m a book girly’s wet dream, whatever that means. Over six feet tall, physically fit, covered in tattoos with dark hair and tanned skin. Oh, and the whole firefighter thing.
Now that I think about it, I think that's the same group of girls who hang out outside the firehouse.
God.
Shaking my head, I look away.
I’m back to watching Savvy when I feel something touch my hand. My head snaps down to my hand to see that someone has slipped a piece of paper into it. Frowning, I look over my shoulder, seeing the girl who was eyeing me up wink at me.
Looking back down, I open the paper to see a fucking number.
What the hell?
I drop the thing like it burned me and shake my hand. Curling my lip, I let Savvy’s hand go and grab the bottle of water I have tucked into the back pocket of my jeans. Opening the cap, I pour some water on my hands to clean them.
What is wrong with people? When will they realize they have no chance in hell? Not when I literally have the best Omega alive.
Still, I can’t get the gross feeling off my hands. “Savvy, baby.” I hate to interrupt.
“Yes?” She blinks up at me.
“Can I have some of your hand sanitizer?”
“Oh.” She blinks a few times. “Sure, it’s in my purse.”
“Thanks.” I reach in and grab the little bottle, squirting a bunch on my hand and scrubbing them good.
“You okay?” she asks me with curiosity.
“I’m perfect.” I grin. “Just touched something gross."
“Oh.” She smiles again and goes back to talking.
Looking over my shoulder, I glare at the girls behind me, who are still watching and mouth, “Not a fucking chance.”
