Chapter 22 #2
“Now we celebrate,” he shouted. He climbed down off the chair.
A girl with long blonde hair approached him. “Hey Ro, wanna dance?”
“Nah,” he said. “I’ve got myself a girlfriend.” He smiled a wicked grin at me. “Laney Lake, dance with me.”
Turning his back to the girl, he took my hand and led me to the dance floor.
I still had my beer in hand. I took a gulp, then set it on someone’s table.
“If you dance like you did in the library, I might have to take you home early,” Rowan said as he swung me around into his arms, a challenge in his eyes.
If I’d known we’d end up at this bar dancing, I would’ve worn something else. Something sexier. Wanting to make the best of it, I removed my sweatshirt, revealing my white tank underneath.
Rowan’s eyes focused on my chest. I’d worn a bra, but it wasn’t a very concealing one.
“You gonna dance or just stand there staring at me?” I poked his chest.
He chuckled, putting his hands on my hips. “Oh, we’re dancing.”
He moved my hips, his body sliding up next to mine.
What we were doing felt more like fucking than dancing.
He turned me, my back to his front, as he ground into me.
His hand was splayed on my stomach, keeping me in place.
He pushed my hair over my shoulder, exposing my neck.
His lips pressed against my skin, sending hot lightning bolts through me.
A couple of other girls came over, vying for Rowan’s attention, trying to get him to dance with them.
He only had eyes for me. Even a few guys came by, trying to distract me.
Rowan only held on tighter. The way he ignored everyone but me made me feel special, beautiful, and powerful.
I loved it. A part of me realized I could easily fall in love with Rowan.
After half a dozen songs, we decided to take a break and get a drink. At a table, Rowan pulled me onto his lap.
“I can’t believe you have the energy to dance after just smashing into people for two hours straight,” I said.
“You have no idea what I’m capable of.” He nibbled on my ear, making me giggle.
Adan came over to us. “Laney, want to dance?”
“She’s busy,” Rowan said. “Leave us.”
Adan left.
I was going to tell Rowan that he could be a little nicer to Adan when Danny approached.
“I didn’t realize you were going to flaunt your relationship in public,” Danny said, sitting in the chair beside Rowan. “This isn’t wise.”
“I didn’t ask your opinion,” Rowan said.
I was going to say something to Danny when he forged on. “As your second, I have a duty to point things like this out.” He took a sip of his beer.
“Not now.” Rowan said, his hands gripping my waist harder. “I’m celebrating our win. Leave it at that.”
“You’re only making this harder on the both of you.” Danny stood. “It won’t end well. You know that. So you shouldn’t be starting it.” He walked away.
“What was that about?” I twisted, trying to see Rowan’s face.
“Danny’s just being Danny. Ignore him.”
It felt like more than that. Rowan had said we were different from one another and shouldn’t be together. Emily basically said the same thing at the game. Now Danny was saying it, too. “Maybe we should talk about it.”
“Fine, but not now. Later.”
I glanced around the bar. “Let’s go play a game of pool.” We’d played several games online but hadn’t played one in person yet.
“I have a better idea.” He finished off his beer. “Let’s go.”
“We’re leaving?” We’d only been here an hour or so.
The corners of his lips turned up. “We’re going to take advantage of an empty house.”
The wicked gleam in his eyes thrilled me. My body warmed just thinking about being alone in the house with him. I wanted to run my hands over his body and let loose, feeling every inch of Rowan Ward.
“I like the sound of that,” I murmured into his ear.
“We’re going to have to sneak out of here so no one notices we’re gone.”
“I’ll pretend I’m going to the bathroom. Then I’ll head out to the parking lot and meet you at your truck.”
He nibbled on my neck. “Meet you there in five.”
I stood and headed to the back of the bar where I found a hallway with an exit sign near the restrooms. I took it and headed around the side of the building.
Rowan was already standing at the truck, my door open. Without a word, I hopped inside and put my seat belt on. Rowan got in and drove us to his house.
The ride felt huge and monumental. We were going to his house where we’d be the only two people there.
No one and nothing could stop us from being together if we wanted to.
And I very much wanted to. I’d never had sex before.
There’d never been anyone I wanted to share that part of myself with.
The couple of guys I’d dated had been awful kissers, so doing more was out of the question.
But with Rowan, we had intense chemistry, and he definitely knew what he was doing.
He made my body come alive in ways I didn’t know were possible.
He pulled into the driveway and parked. I got out, grabbing my bag of clothes and my backpack.
Rowan unlocked the front door, leading me inside and taking one of my bags.
He didn’t turn any lights on as he headed upstairs.
I followed close behind, my body feeling like a live wire.
I wanted Rowan, and if I didn’t have him, it felt like I’d explode.
He opened the door to his room. I stepped inside, setting my backpack on the floor. Rowan kept the lights off and closed the door. He set my bag down, then grabbed me, his lips on mine before I had a chance to breathe a word.
His hands were already tearing my sweatshirt off from around my waist. “I want you,” he murmured against my lips, sending a bolt of need through me.
“I take it you got condoms?” I asked, my voice coming out all breathy. About two weeks ago, I went to the student health center and got on birth control as a precaution.
“Boxes of them,” he replied, his lips trailing down my neck.
His hands reached for my tank, pulling it over my head. I grabbed the hem of his shirt, pushing it up. Using one hand, he took it off, tossing it somewhere. I wished the light was on so I could see him. My fingers trailed down his torso, feeling the curves of his finely toned abs.
“You’re so beautiful,” Rowan said, unclasping my bra and taking it off. He picked me up. I wound my legs around him as his lips devoured mine. He carried me to the bed, laying me on it.
“If we’re going too fast or you want to stop, just tell me,” he said.
“I want this.” I’d never wanted anything more.
“Are you sure?”
Instead of answering, I laced my hands in his hair, pulling his head down toward mine. I kissed him, trying to let him know how I felt with that kiss. I wanted to get lost in him. In us.
Rowan undid my button and zipper, pulling my jeans off. “Last opportunity to back out,” he said, his voice hoarse.
“Not a chance.”
“I was hoping you’d say that.” He lunged for me, and his mouth licked my nipple before taking it in his mouth. I felt like I was floating on a cloud. His mouth traveled from my breast down along my stomach. His fingers gently pushed my legs apart, and he kissed my inner thigh, setting me on fire.
He licked me, his tongue pressing, teasing, and demanding.
I’d never had a guy do this to me before.
Pleasure coursed through my body. Rowan held me open while he continued to lick and suck.
I wasn’t going to last long with him doing this to me, yet I didn’t want him to stop.
He slid a finger inside me, then pulled it out before doing the same with his tongue.
He switched between his finger and tongue, bringing me to the edge.
His tongue swirled around once more before he kissed my inner thigh, a finger slipping inside me again.
Then two fingers. I was on the verge of having an orgasm.
He pulled his fingers out and moved above me, kissing my lips.
I reached down, trying to shove his pants off, needing to feel all of him.
He stood and removed his pants. “Are you sure about this?” he asked, his voice husky. “We can just fool around if you’re not ready.”
I wish he’d stop asking me if I was sure about this. I’d never been so sure of anything before. “I want to,” I whispered.
“Is this your first time?”
“Yes.” I wanted to ask him if it was his first, but I knew it couldn’t be, and I didn’t want to hear that he’d been with another woman.
“Just so you know,” he said as he opened his nightstand drawer, “Em and I never had sex.”
That surprised me.
“I’ve never been with anyone I’ve cared about before,” he said, pulling out a condom and opening it.
“I’ve never brought anyone home like this.
I want you to know that I understand this is special and important.
” He rolled the condom on. “I’m also having a hard time controlling myself around you.
If I get too rough or hurt you, tell me. ”
“Okay.” I had no idea what to think of that speech he’d just made.
“Last chance to back out.”
“Why would I want to back out?”
“I don’t know.” He stroked himself. “We still have a lot to talk about.”
“True. But we can talk later. Your housemates will be home soon.”
He chuckled. “Always so practical.” He took a predatory step toward the bed. “Last chance.”
“I’m ready for you.”
His teeth shone in the darkness as he smiled. “I sure as hell hope so.”
Rowan practically jumped on me, his mouth devouring mine. His entire gloriously naked body was on top of me, filling me with need. One hand cupped my breast while the other trailed down, feeling me, sliding in and out a few times.
“You’re so wet,” he mumbled against my lips.
“I want to feel you,” I panted.
He lined himself up to me, pushing in just a little. “You okay?”
I grabbed his ass and squeezed.
He chuckled and applied more pressure, sliding inside me. A groan slipped from him. “You feel so good,” he murmured as he pushed in deeper. “Just relax.” Then in one swift motion, he pulled out and thrust in again.
