Chapter 20
TWENTY
BUTCH
This was a terrible idea. I should have stalled. Should have found a reason to put this off until everything we’re facing is resolved. Because I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to think about anything besides Becca growling at me like a feral kitten, threatening bodily harm if I don’t please her.
Right fucking now.
It’s the hottest damn thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. And if I wasn’t already borderline obsessed with her, this would have made it happen.
That’s a problem. On lots of fucking levels. The most immediate one being I’m about to come faster than I did when I was sixteen.
“Why wasn’t I doing this ten years ago?”
Becca’s hand weaves into my hair, her hold on me so tight it hurts. I fucking love it. Love the sting biting my scalp as her fingers twist and turn.
“Because I was stupid enough to walk away from you.”
It sure as hell wasn’t because someone else could have given her what she needs. I’m the one who understands her. I’m the one who appreciates who she is. I’m the one who takes care of her.
Me. No one else.
I wedge one hand between our bodies in search of her clit because thinking about Becca being mine is only making it harder not to come. I want to mark her. Fill her so full it runs down her legs. I want her to carry a part of me with her for days.
And then I want to do it again. And again. And again.
I vaguely register the banging of the headboard against the wall. I don’t give a fuck if it pisses our neighbors off. They’ll have to get over, it because I’m not stopping until Becca’s finished.
And, based on the way she’s once again telling me not to stop, she’s not finished.
She grabs at my shoulders, her short fingernails digging into my skin as her body rocks with mine, my fingers working her clit furiously. “Come on, B.” I lean down, pressing my face into her hair as I try to focus. “I know you can give me one more.”
Hopefully she can do it quickly.
“Stop making that noise,” Becca snarls. “You’re distracting me.”
I straighten to my knees, needing a little more leverage. “It’s not me, Little Miss Demanding.” I smirk down at her. “It’s our neighbors offering their opinion on our activities.”
The walls in this place are thin and the banging of the people next door sounds just as loud as the headboard.
Becca’s dark eyes open, heavy with lust as they meet mine. “You think they can hear us?”
“They can for sure hear you.” Now that I’m not using my free hand to hold myself up, I can work one of Becca’s nipples with my fingers, adding another layer of stimulation.
Becca’s pussy clenches around me, her thighs starting to shake.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you like the idea of someone listening while I fuck you.” I force myself to keep pace even though all I want is to lose myself in the feel of her around me. “Are you enjoying having an audience, B?”
“Yessssss.” Her body goes stiff, mouth falling open in a soundless scream as she finally has mercy on me.
I manage to make it all of about three point five more seconds before I finish with a low groan, coming so hard it takes every bit of awareness I possess to make sure I don’t smother her as I collapse forward. I fight for air, holding my weight on my elbows as I rest my forehead on hers.
Fuck. That was… That was…
Why in the hell are the neighbors still banging on the wall?
I lift my head, preparing to yell at them to shut the fuck up, but then I notice the direction the banging is coming from. It’s not the wall.
It’s the door.
“Shit.”
I jump off Becca, flipping the blanket on the bed across her naked body. Because I’ll be damned if someone else gets to see her freshly fucked.
I lunge for my weapon, managing to get my hand on it right as the door jam starts to split. I switch off the safety, taking aim a second before the frame gives way and the door swings open. My finger twitches, but I don’t fire.
Because I’m not sure I know how to clean up the mess that would make.
“What the fuck?” Owen’s arm drops, his own weapon pointing to the floor as he stares at me. “Why in the hell is your dick out?”
Luca steps in right beside him, looking just as fucking confused. “We thought someone was trying to murder you guys.”
A third man strides between them, one dark brow angled imperiously as he too takes in the majesty of my cock. His eyes flick to where Becca peeks out from under the blanket, her eyes wide. Then his focus returns to me, his chin tilting as a smirk lifts the hard line of his mouth.
“Well done, Mr. Morelli.” Pierce points to where my clothes are stacked in a messy pile on the table. “Now get dressed so we can find out if you’re as talented at negotiating as you are at fucking.”
Becca sits next to me on the edge of the bed, eyes narrowed behind her glasses as she scans our packed motel room.
Even though it was just Owen and Luca who broke down the door, they had at least five other men at their backs, making escape impossible.
I still might have considered it if it was just me, but Becca was naked, and there was no way I was going to let any of these men see her.
So here we sit, Pierce smirking like he thinks he’s done something special by managing to track us down.
“You two are impressive together.” He leans back against the dresser. “And I’m not just talking about the activity we interrupted with our arrival.”
Becca’s eyes come my way. She doesn’t say anything out loud, but I’m a little worried I know what she’s thinking. That she might want to hit Pierce with a chair. Only because a step stool isn’t readily available.
Or a hammer.
Pierce crosses both arms over his chest as he studies us. The silence stretches out, making the air heavy. I can see the men around him shifting on their feet as they get uncomfortable. As the need to break the tension crawls over their skin.
I almost smile, the amusement I’m feeling at their discomfort threatening to break free. Because I know I can sit here in silence until we all rot and turn to dust. I also know Becca is using this time to analyze everyone and everything, making conclusions and storing them away.
Neither of us fidget. We don’t do more than blink.
More proof Becca is fucking perfect for me. More proof she’s beyond capable of dealing with me. And more proof she’s got my back to the bitter end.
But this isn’t the end. We’re smarter than Pierce. And as soon as the opportunity presents itself—
Pierce lifts a finger, pointing at me. “I want to hire you.” His finger swings to Becca.
“Both of you.” He straightens off the dresser.
“Neither of you have jobs. I’ve seen with my own eyes how much of an asset you are, both separately and together.
” He tucks a hand into the pocket of his suit.
“And I can admit, I would much prefer you be with me than against me.”
I…
Wasn’t fucking expecting that.
“Will I have access to all your data?” Becca recovers from the shock of Pierce’s offer faster than I do, and she immediately starts firing off questions.
“Can one of the conditions of my hiring be that you will find my sister?” She sits taller.
“And will Butch and I be partners, or are you planning to split us up?”
“Ms. Hoffman”—Pierce huffs out a laugh—“no one is capable of splitting you two up.” He barely pauses.
“To answer your other two questions, yes. You will have access to all our data.” He leans forward.
“But I feel obligated to tell you, I will give you access even if you reject my offer.” His expression hardens.
“Likewise, I intend to find your sister no matter what you choose.” His eyes come to me, resting for a second before moving back to Becca.
“I know you don’t believe this, but we are on your side.
” He stands tall, chin lifting incrementally. “Whether you like it or not.”
“Why?” It’s the first word I’ve spoken, but a question I’ve been wondering for a hell of a long time. I understood why Maddox was involved. I could even see why Alaskan Security was initially invested since Audrey hired them to provide her with protection.
But she’s safe now. The threat to her is gone. They have no reason to continue fighting this fight.
“You know why.” Pierce focuses solely on me.
“Like you, I also have a niece. But more than that, there is right and there is wrong. What’s happening here is not a gray area, and I won’t turn away from it simply because it doesn’t currently affect me.
” There’s venom in his voice as he continues.
“I know what happens when small men believe they possess untouchable power.” A humorless smile that could probably strike fear in the hearts of many men curls his lips.
“And I find no greater pleasure in this world than helping them fall.”
I stare at Pierce a second longer before allowing my eyes to drift around the room, assessing the rest of the men around me. Trying to determine if they feel the same way. I believed I was part of a good team once. That we were all on the same side. Fighting the same fight.
Finding out I was wrong nearly broke me. Made me miss the days when I didn’t know how awful the people in my circle were. Their lack of empathy while still claiming a moral high ground was appalling.
I won’t be a part of that again.
Becca jumps up, shoulders squared, jaw set. “Let’s do it then. You help me find my sister, and I’ll scrub your freaking toilets if that’s what you want.”
Pierce’s smile turns genuine. “I am quite capable of scrubbing my own toilets, Ms. Hoffman.” Pierce turns, tipping his head at one of the men I’ve not yet been introduced to.
“I would much rather you spend your time working with my team to aggregate and analyze the data we have collectively acquired.”
Becca presses her lips together, wavering only for a second before jerking her head in a sharp nod. She turns, going to the sweatshirt she had on earlier. Reaching into the front pocket, she pulls out her flash drive, holding it up. “Let’s do it.”
Pierce turns to me. “What about you, Mr. Morelli?”
I pretend to think about it, even though I don’t have to. “If Becca works with you, then so do I.” Pierce starts to look satisfied, and I shut it down immediately. “But if you doublecross us, I swear to God I will end all of you.”
Becca scoffs, her brows pinching together as she stares at me.
For a second, I think my threat has upset her.
Made her worry I’m putting her sister’s life in jeopardy.
But then she says, “Don’t act like you would do it all by yourself.
” She turns to Pierce. “Just so you know, I’ve already killed three men.
And I won’t hesitate to kill more if they get between me and my sister. ”
Pierce’s smile grows. “I am well aware you have killed three men, Ms. Hoffman. It’s one of the main reasons I want to hire you.
” He steps toward Becca, but his movements aren’t threatening, so I let it slide.
“Knowing what you’re capable of, it’s become quite obvious I don’t want to risk you working for someone else. ”
The man Pierce nodded at earlier starts grabbing items from the room.
“What the fuck?”
I make a move to go after him, but Pierce comes at me fast as lightning, resting an arm across my chest. “Staying here is no longer an option. It’s only a matter of time before whoever you’ve surely pissed off is able to track you down, the same way my team has.
” He nods at his men again, and they all branch off, collecting our things.
“You will be staying with the rest of the team at a secure location.
“Please tell me it has a flushing toilet and running water.” Becca grabs her sweatshirt, layering it over the T-shirt she pulled on while I made everyone wait outside. “And internet. I really need the internet.”
“You will have access to all the amenities you require.” Pierce moves toward the door of our room. “It is certainly more comfortable than the accommodations you’ve had the past few days.”
Was that a dig at me? Because if he’s trying to insinuate I can’t properly provide for Becca—
“Don’t get your panties in a bunch.” Pierce leads us outside, stretching his arm toward a running SUV with tinted windows. “I am well aware you have enough money in your bank account to provide Ms. Hoffman with any sort of luxury hotel she might request.”
That stops me in my tracks.
I swear to God Pierce rolls his eyes at me.
“We do a thorough and lengthy investigation of everyone we hire. It is imperative we know everything there is to know before granting a person access to Alaskan Security’s database.
” Pierce gives me the same easy smile he gave Becca earlier.
“We started looking into your background the second we discovered you were put on leave from the force.”
“That’s one hell of a fucking invasion of privacy.” I don’t like this guy knowing everything about me. I don’t like anyone knowing everything about me.
My life is none of their business.
“There’s something you should know about me.” Pierce squares up to me, looking completely undaunted. “I protect my teams at all costs. I take every precaution when it comes to their safety.” His gaze is unwavering as it fuses to mine. “And now that protection includes you.”
