Chapter 19

CHAPTER NINETEEN

THE HEATHEN

My mind is an absolute mess. I’m trying to pay attention as Knox introduces me to his friends, but I can’t stop wondering if the guys have a mafia connection, and if Raven is somehow involved.

I’ve been a horrible friend to Bianca since we left the asylum.

I really should call her. Now, it’s gotten to the point that I’m not sure if I can.

Would she know, if I asked her, if these are the Bonetti brothers the doctor was talking about?

Raven isn’t in the mafia, or at least he wasn’t, but I don’t want to put her in danger by asking the wrong questions.

If it were only Killian, I’d probably be running for my life, because he seems like the mafia type.

The other two have mostly treated me well.

Aside from tying me up and shooting me with a dart, I have no complaints.

But spending too much time with them will slow the progress I’ve made with my family, so it needs to be addressed soon. One way or another.

My brain is on overload, and now I’ve added the ‘sexy’ comment Knox made. Nobody has ever said that to me, or called me beautiful. I can’t help but think he must have ulterior motives for saying something like that.

“Tesoro,” Knox says, and I snap my gaze to his.

“This is Mikayla, Jackson, Max, and Ryder.”

I shake their hands one by one, when I feel warm breath on my neck.

“Killer, I want you to meet someone too.”

“Killian,” I groan in irritation, and turn around to face him, but he’s not alone. He has a redhead clutching onto his arm, like she’s terrified someone might steal him away.

“This is Cinnamon.”

When Knox turns toward them, the woman with giant boobs rushes over to him excitedly.

Killian flashes me a devious grin, telling me he’s really proud of himself for being such a dick.

I turn away from him and focus my attention on the woman with her arms wrapped around Knox like she owns him, and I can’t think straight. My heart pounds as my mind fucking spins out of control.

Killian laughs at my angry expression. It echoes in my brain as I hear her speaking to Knox.

“I miss you, baby.”

That’s all it takes for me to see red, and my control snaps like a twig.

Reaching up, I grab her long red pony tail and pull her away from him while she twists and screams.

Knox looks on with a huge smile on his face. Carter and Killian watch with surprised expressions as I keep pulling her until she lands on the ground.

I jump on top of her, the way I have so many men in recent days, and punch her in the face.

“I already killed a Cinnamon. Looks like you’re next. Fun fact: She was a cow, too. I slaughtered her myself. And I’ll do the same to you.”

I pull a cross out of my pocket and hear Carter.

“Jesus fucking Christ, Knox. Get the goddamn heathen off of her. She’s going to kill her.”

A crowd surrounds us, but I can’t hear them over the noise in my head. It’s so fucking loud.

Knox comes up beside me.

“Tesoro.”

I hear him. I feel his presence wash over me, and it calms me momentarily, until Cinnamon speaks up as blood pours from her nose.

“He’s mine. Both of them. They always have been.”

And the calm vanishes like a cloud of dust.
