Chapter Fifteen #2
No woman has ever got me hard by walking into a room. It should worry me. Our one and only time has got to remain just that. Besides, King has sent her to see me, this isn’t something she chose to do herself.
A server comes over and offers Cassie a drink. I have a coffee in front of me, it’s been a long day and I suspect it’s going to get longer after this meeting, so I need the caffeine.
Cassie thanks her as she fills up her cup. She leaves it black which doesn’t surprise me. Although I had half expected her to say she didn’t want anything, given this is supposed to be a quick meeting.
The woman holds the carafe in my direction and I nod, she fills my cup, her eyes flicking from what she is doing, to my face.
“Be careful,” Cassie says as she almost overfills the cup.
“Sorry,” she mutters, her cheeks pinking.
I can’t help smirking at her and she blushes even harder. Cassie exhales and sets her purse on the table, making the woman jump.
“If you need anything, a menu… Or.”
“We’ll call if we do,” Cassie says.
When I look over, I expect her to be annoyed, but she isn’t. In fact, she has a friendly look on her face, setting the server at ease. She nods and walks away, leaving us alone.
“Well, that was, weird,” she takes out her phone, checks it, then sets it face down beside her purse.
“Happens all the time,” I wink when she looks at me.
“I’m sure it does,” she replies. “You must have broke some laws getting here so fast. Is that wise?”
“You worried?”
She lets out a sigh. “Not in the slightest. Anyway.” She folds her hands on top of one another on the table. “A few days ago you were involved in a situation where an unexpected item was in a van you were escorting.”
My lip tilts at the way she describes it. Although she can’t come outright and say it here. My smile fades quickly. Why has King sent her here to talk about this?
“The man involved, I’ve tried to track him down, but he seems to have disappeared. Your deal was with him, so I need your help to find him.”
“Marshall has disappeared?” My head cants to the side as I look out of the window.
Cassie doesn’t answer. It was rhetorical anyway. This place is not on a main road so it’s quiet, a few pedestrians walking on the sidewalk, a dog pissing up a tree. It’s all so suburban.
“Why are you asking me about this? What has King got you doing?”
For a moment she looks like she isn’t going to answer until her eyes flick to the patch on my chest. I’m a President of the club she works for. Cassie might not like it, and she technically works for King, but she respects the patch. And King probably told her to work with me, not just question me.
“Since finding out about it,” she gives me a pointed look, not wanting to speak the words aloud, which says everything. “He wants to find them.”
“Why?”
“I didn’t ask.”
“That doesn’t sound like you.”
Her eyes narrow. “Can you help or not?”
“Depends. Does Handlebar know about this?”
Hearing his name flusters her. Not that I’m bothered by that too much until she clamps her bottom lip between her teeth. For a second I lose my senses and imagine reaching across and pulling the lip away, shoving my thumb in her mouth instead.
“He’s aware. What can you tell me about Marshall and how I can track him down?”
“If anyone is tracking him down, it’ll be me. Marshall is involved with people you don’t want to have any dealings with.”
“I work for one for the scariest MC’s on the East Coast, you think any of this makes me nervous?”
“I don’t doubt you’re a bad ass,” I arch a brow on the last word. Her nostrils flare knowing I’ve had my hands on her bare ass just a few days ago. “But let me handle this. If King is asking, then I’ll make sure I track him down.”
“I need to talk to him as soon as you find him. I mean it, Mace,” she adds. “We need to be discrete with this, it’s imperative.”
“Trust me, I know all about how secret this thing is,” I lean forward, putting my elbows on the table so I’m closer to her. “It was my club that was used.”
“For a good cause.”
“I should have been told.”
“Kind of defeats the purpose of what they were doing,” she responds.
Verbally sparring with her is almost as fun as fucking her. Her lips part and my eyes are drawn there again, then lower, to the triangle of bare skin of her chest. Cassie leans back and picks up her coffee, holding it in front of her, like a barrier. Doesn’t stop me remembering her naked tits.
This is getting out of hand, she’s right, it’s serious and fantasizing about her is not helping this situation or my cock.
“I can find him, and when I do,” I hold up a hand to stop her protest. “I’ll make sure you’re there to talk to him.”
“Good.”
“Why didn’t you tell me all of this on the phone?”
“Like I already said, its sensitive and I don’t trust your phone.”
“Seems more like you wanted to see me.”
“Why would you think that?”
“I can think of a number of reasons,” I shift my feet until one of them taps hers. It makes her jump, and she gets angry it startled her.
“We are not going to talk about that, it isn’t what I’m here for.”
“I didn’t think you’d want me to bend you over the table in front of all these respectable people,” I smirk. “The bathroom though.”
“You’re so full of yourself,” she shakes her head.
“You could be full of me,” I say in a low voice.
Literally minutes ago I was chastising myself for thinking like that about her. We’re done as far as that is concerned. Except, it kind of feels like we’re not. If the way she is looking at me says anything.
“You look like you need something to loosen you up, Cassie.”
“And you think you’re it.”
“You’re the kind of woman who doesn’t want any strings, I can give you that and something more.”
“How long will it take you to find him?” She changes the subject, but she isn’t hiding how flustered I’ve made her.
One thing I’ve come to see about her in my very limited experience, she isn’t great at hiding when she’s turned on. Her pupils are blown wide, and her breath is shallow.
“Shouldn’t be too long,” I answer without any innuendo, or blatantly telling her I want to fuck her again. “I know where he hangs out.”
“Good,” she gets up and grabs her purse and phone.
That’s it? Not a chance. I toss a couple of twenties on the table, far too much for two coffees that neither of us even drank, and follow her. Cassie glances behind as I stay close to her, holding the door for her to step outside.
Her car is parked a few rows away from the side of the building. I grab her wrist as she starts to walk away and pull her back to me, turning her so she is against the wall.
“I’m not doing this,” she glares up at me as I lean over her, one hand braced on the wall by her head.
“Well not here,” I ghost my other hand over her waist and her breast, careful not to let anyone see.
“This isn’t what I met you for,” she says on a shaky breath.
“And that’s fine, we’ve handled business. I’ve told you when I find him, I’ll call you. That doesn’t mean we can’t take advantage of the situation.”
“If you think I’m going to fuck you behind a diner in the middle of this little town you’re mistaken.”
“Then we go somewhere else.” I lean down and nip at her neck, my tongue flicking over her skin, tasting her and inhaling the clean scent of her body wash. It’s impossible not to press into her, letting her feel my cock against her hip. “I’m sure there is a motel around here somewhere.”
She scoffs and puts her hand on my chest, pushing me back. “Not a chance.”
I’m not about to beg, so I step back. I do have shit to do and now that King has asked her for this, I need to figure out where Marshall is.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure King wants to tap into the Veil Line, I’m not sure why but it’s the only reason he’d be looking for Marshall.
Handlebar has got to be pissed about that.
“Lexica Apartments, Upper Pond Road.”
It takes me a second to figure out she’s giving me her address.
“If you’re still up for it, that is?” Her hand goes to my cock and I grab her wrist, holding it there.
She gives it a squeeze making me grunt, then pushes my hand away and walks around me to her car. She’s pulling out of the lot by the time I make it to my bike.
I don’t know if she is still going to want to do this by the time we do get to her place but I’m not backing down from that challenge.
