I rushed inside and slammed the door behind me, making sure to turn the lock just as the doorknob jiggled. “Not fair, sugar.”
Merrick’s and Kellan’s laughter was audible even through the door. “Very fair because you know if you join, Kellan and Merrick will break this door down, and I’m not dealing with all that today.”
“She’s right.” Merrick chuckled. I grinned to myself as I hopped into the shower.
Steam filled the room as I opened the door, clad in nothing but a towel wrapped precariously around me while I dried my hair with another.

“Nicholas?” Merrick asked and put the call on speaker.
“Josh just called. He said there’s a fire at the motel, but I don’t have him on the schedule.
” Panic laced Nicholas’ tone, his words clipped and precise.
I was already dropping my towel and opening my closet, throwing on a band tee and black ripped jeans.
“I’m messaging the sites right now to make sure they’re on guard and trying to eliminate the motels one by one, but I needed you all to know first.”
“We’re heading out. We’ll give him another call once we get on the road.
You focus on getting the information out there.
” Merrick jumped to his feet while Kellan and Spade headed for the door, undoubtedly getting their own weapons strapped on.
I pulled out my knives and secured them to my legs before shrugging on the shoulder holster for my gun.
Merrick got his own weapons out of my other nightstand and armed himself before wrapping an arm around my waist and leading me to the door.
My pulse pounded in my ears, drowning out the noise around me as I ran through the possibilities. “How the hell did they find them?”
