Chapter 15

Chapter Fifteen

AXE

Staying behind the bar with CJ and Rogue, I help them both while staying as close to my woman as possible. My brothers are all here and something doesn’t sit right with me. Something about this whole ordeal isn’t sitting well with me.

Scanning the room, I start to wonder if we’re wrong about the tactic this person or group of people are using. I turn my attention to my ol’ lady once more. Without making it noticeable, I signal Hammer and Malice. The man at the end of the bar in front of CJ’s fiddling with a knife in his hand.

Fuck.

I take the asshole sitting in front of my woman in, not liking what I’m seeing.

I focus more on his face and go taut when I read his lips as he talks to CJ, “Now, now, my precious, I suggest you come to me if you don’t want anyone in this building hurt.

” I’ve always had a knack for understanding the way lips move.

Same as sign language. I know this because of Tracy.

My sister had a hard time hearing, so she’d needed a hearing aid.

Because of the way her voice sounded, she preferred to sign instead.

I learned to do both with her so she wouldn’t feel alone. Our dad learned through online classes.

It’s why when those fuckers gang-raped her, and she’d killed herself, I swore vengeance for her.

With as much control as I can muster, I hold myself back from doing something impulsive. This dickhead has something planned.

“Don’t let her get from behind the bar,” Malice says low enough for us around him to hear.

“I don’t intend to,” I mutter, more than ready to take the fucker out.

“Fuck,” Cy mutters, looking at his phone.

“What?” Hammer growls, and rage seems to flow from his body when he sees whatever is on Cy’s screen. “Please tell me we don’t have shit stored here at the bar.”

What the fuck?

“Prez, you know we don’t keep anything stored here,” I grumble.

“Good,” he snarls and looks at me. “Brace, Axe. Shit’s about to go down.”

No sooner than the words left his mouth, the doors leading outside are thrown open, and yelling commences as a police task force comes rushing into the building. I make a jump for CJ to pull her in next to me, only to find her gone.

Motherfucker.

“Calm down, Axe. She’s got her cell phone on her and the bracelet. Both have a tracer on them. We’ll catch up to them,” Rogue says calmly, reminding me of the strength bracelet I’d given to CJ.

Fuck.

Rounding the bar, Rogue and I stand near the rest of our brothers.

“Get on the ground,” several of the officers yell, pointing guns in our direction.

Holding my hands up, I follow in line with my brothers going to the ground. This is such bullshit. Customers are shown out of the bar as chaos ensues. The entire time my mind wanders to CJ and I hope, like fuck, she’s okay.

“What’s the meaning of this?” Hammer snarls once all the customers are out and the officers are standing around us.

One of them bends down low enough to say something to Hammer, who stiffens briefly before nodding.

Shit.

This isn’t good.

“We’ve got a warrant to search this place,” a man wearing a suit says, holding up a search warrant.

“On what grounds,” Malice demands.

The door opens once again and in comes Rebel McAlister, Cy’s cousin and also the lawyer we use when needed. “What’s the meaning of this?” she demands, holding out her hand for the warrant the suit is holding.

“Ms. McAlister, I don’t believe you were invited to this party,” the suit declares.

“And you’re a tiny prick, Walton, these men are my clients, and I, for one, will not tolerate you coming into this establishment and disrupting a night out for all those people I saw rushing out of here,” Rebel mutters.

“Fuck me,” Rogue grumbles, shaking his head at the way Rebel is handling the situation.

To say the least, Rebel and Rogue being in the same room wouldn’t be a good idea in any other situation.

Those two used to be hot and heavy for each other back in the day.

Though Rogue’s a few years older than Rebel, they started dating when she was a freshman in high school and he’d been a senior.

We all thought the two of them would have made it, but shit happened and now the two of them can’t seem to stand being near each other.

Fuck, I’ve seen the death glares Rebel throws in Rogue’s direction. If we’re out at one of the businesses and Rebel comes in with a date or whatever, Rogue tends to end up leaving after staring daggers into her date.

The tension between the two of them can be stifling at best. Not many know what happened. Okay, well, those that are members know, but still, it ain’t our business. If they’re meant for each other, they’ll figure that shit out for themselves.

For now, Rogue just needs to keep his mouth shut and not say a word so the woman can do her damn job. I need out of here so I can go find my ol’ lady.

Rebel reads over the warrant, lifts her gaze up to meet Walton’s, and waves the paper in the air while curling her lip in disgust. “According to this, you’re looking for something that doesn’t even exist, regardless of if it were, this warrant is bullshit.

The fact you got Judge Raymond to sign off on it is laughable considering he’d just been asked to resign earlier today by his boss. ”

Walton’s face turns a bright red at Rebel’s announcement. “That can’t be,” he sputters angrily.

“Oh, but it is. See, I know the games you all are playing and have a few tricks up my sleeve as well so, I suggest you all pack up and leave. This warrant is not valid,” Rebel snickers folding the piece of paper before sliding it into her back pocket.

“I would also suggest you turn in your badge because when you get to the station, you’ll find several of your buddies doing the same. ”

Oh shit.

“Bitch,” Walton snarls, glaring daggers at her. “You’ve just signed your own death warrant.”

Rogue moves standing to his feet. I follow suit, ready to keep him from getting into trouble. The door opens once again, and everyone stops moving once again when the Devore brothers walk into the establishment.

The club doesn’t have a problem with either of the four brothers, but my gut twists when they walk in.

“Rebel, babe, what’s going on?” one of them asks.

“I’m just handling some business, Grant.

Just wrapping it up,” Rebel murmurs and flicks a look in Rogue’s direction, then gets back to it.

“Better get going, Walton, and shove your threats where the sun don’t shine.

” With that, she turns her back on Walton and looks to Hammer.

“Be careful with what you do for the time being. I’m out of here. ”

Moving to Grant, she takes his arm and the two of them walk out with his brothers following him.

Fuck, this isn’t good.

I can nearly taste the rage pouring off my brother at the sight of Rebel with a Devore brother.

With everyone gone, I take a heavy breath and glance around at each of them.

“What the fuck is that shit about?” Gunner growls the question I’d wanted to know the answer to.

“That right there was a distraction and a declaration of war in one move altogether,” Hammer snarls.

“Motherfuckin’ Supreme Masters and their bullshit,” Malice sneers.

“Let’s worry about them later. We’ve got to get CJ back. Some fucker took her in the midst of the shitstorm,” I mutter through clenched teeth.

“I’m pulling up the tracking app now on my phone. We’ll find her and after we do, I’m going to be having words with my cousin. What the fuck is up with that shit?” Cy mutters.

“Leave Rebel to me,” Rogue grinds out. “I’ll find out myself what she’s playing at.”

“Have it your way. You know that won’t go over well.” Cy shrugs.

“Focus on CJ for now. Rebel will be dealt with later on.” I don’t miss the balling of his fist.

“Got a lock on both her tracers. The phone is showing here. The other is still on the move,” Cy announces.

“Let’s move. If we follow it, we should be able to stop whatever that fucker’s planning,” Hammer states.

“Hold up a second,” I mutter, not wanting to stop from leaving, but something is rubbing me the wrong way about what that asshole said to her.

“I read the guy’s lips right before everything went down.

He said something about everyone being hurt if she didn’t come to him.

I think we need to check the building first as a precaution. ”

“Colt, Carbine, Gunner, you check the place out,” Hammer orders and locks eyes with me. “Time to get your woman back.”

I knew when it came to CJ, it’s personal for him. He hadn’t been able to save his family from what happened to them at the hands of ‘The Delivers’, but we can for CJ.

Nodding, I stalk toward the door ahead of them. More than ready to get out of here and out there to find my ol’ lady.

Outside I lift my gaze to the sky wishing there was a way I could tell her I’m coming for her.
