CHAPTER 8
FRENZY
It’s been a few days since I saw my woman and I’ve hated every second that I was away from her. If I hadn’t been tasked with going on this run before everything to do with Scarlett was brought to the club, I wouldn’t be away from her right now.
I swear I can still taste her on my tongue even though it’s been a few days since I had the pleasure of being buried between her thighs. There’s nothing I wish for more than having the time to bury my cock in her before Hacker showed up.
Maybe it was a bastard move, going down on her in her office knowing full well I was leaving that same night on the run. No, it was a bastard move, and I need to own that shit.
She might not have let me between her thighs if she had known, and that was a risk I wasn’t willing to take.
After the cameras were installed and Hacker left with a box of cookies and other treats under his arm that I knew damn well he wasn’t going to share with anyone, even though he said he would, I turned toward my woman. She was glowing and I’m just caveman enough to believe that it was because she was still riding the high of her office orgasm.
When she turned toward me, she studied my face for a moment and then narrowed her eyes. “You have something to tell me, and you aren’t sure I’m going to like it,” there was a resigned, matter-of-fact quality to her voice that I hated.
I cupped her face in my hands and pressed kisses all over her face. “Its nothing bad, Sugar,” I assured her even though it was a lie. Well, only partially a lie.
I didn’t need to tell her anything bad in terms of us, but I wasn’t thrilled about what I had to say. There wasn’t a single part of me looking forward to being away from her.
“Before the ladies brought your issue to the club, I was assigned to go on a run with a few other brothers.” Her lips parted and I could see the questions swirling in her eyes. Before she could ask any of them, I shook my head. “I can’t tell you what the run is about or give you details. It’s club business and that’s the way it has to stay.”
Her shoulders slumped and she nodded sadly. “Okay,” she whispered, “I get it.”
She didn’t, not really, but I wasn’t going to argue with her about it. Not when she was letting me off the hook so easily. “I have to head out tonight to go to the Charleston Chapter.”
Something flashed in her eyes, but she didn’t ask any questions. “I’ll be gone a few days, but there will be a Prospect here to follow you home tonight. Hacker will keep an eye on the camera footage, but like he said today when putting in the cameras, it’s going to take a little longer to get the new security up and running.” I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I know I can’t talk you into coming into the bakery later,” the glare she shot me told me everything I needed to know, “which is why a Prospect will be following you in and keeping an eye on the bakery while you’re open and then escorting you home.”
“I don’t need a babysitter, Frenzy,” she sassed me.
My hands dove into her hair to tightly grip the strands, holding in her place. I hated my road name on her lips. Fucking hated it.
It’s a name I’ve always worn as a bad of honor, but it sounded so fucking wrong coming from her.
“Dean,” I growled. She huffed out a breath and I almost smiled at the attitude my woman was throwing at me. Almost. “I’m always Dean to you, Scarlett,” my voice was firm, giving no room for any arguments.
She swallowed hard and whispered, “Dean.”
“Good girl,” I growled before kissing her softly, thanking her without words. I murmured against her lips, “I know you don’t need a babysitter, but since I have to be out of town and can’t keep an eye on you, I need to know you’re safe. Given the pattern so far, I don’t think there will be any problems, but I’m not going to take the risk.” I pulled back and looked into her eyes, hoping she could see the depth of my feelings for her already. “I can’t do it.”
Her hands, so soft and delicate, came up and cupped my jaw. “Then babysitter it is.”
I plundered her mouth, not caring that we were standing in the kitchen of her bakery and Valerie could walk into the back at any moment. I didn’t care if Hacker was watching the feed right now, even though I knew he wasn’t since everything that had gone down happened at night.
“Thank you,” I whispered against her lips.
When I pulled back from her, she let out a little whimper and something passed in her eyes. I’m not sure if she had more questions, or if she had concerns, but then the look was gone and replaced with something sweeter.
“Be careful while you’re riding. There are far too many idiots on the road.”
I chuckled softly and kissed my woman again, hating that I was going to have to leave her and entrust her safety to a Prospect. But I had to do it.
The moment I got on my bike and got into formation with my brothers around the transport truck to head to Charleston, I felt it. I was leaving my heart behind.
The whole run has been a blur. We finished the mission and spent a night partying at the Charleston clubhouse. It was fucking wild. That club doesn’t have the grounding that Old Ladies can provide, and it showed.
The club angels were out in full force and all the single men with me, which was most of them, took full advantage. It shocked the hell out of my brothers that I stayed away from the angels and turned more than one away when they approached me.
Hammer looked at me as we leaned against the bar together with a beer in our hands. “What’s going on with you? Not feeling the angels here? There is some prime pussy to choose from.”
I flashed him a grin, “I’m off the market.”
He sputtered as he choked on his swig of beer. While coughing, he barely got out, “What?”
“You heard about the Old Ladies bringing up the issue with that bakery?” He nodded and I smirked. “I met the owner and baker. She’s mine.”
“Holy shit,” Hammer shouted.
Hammer’s a good guy. He runs Devil’s Construction and because of the jobs he does with the business, he doesn’t go on a lot of runs. Still, I’m always glad when he’s out on the road with me because he’s a guy who is always steady.
That doesn’t mean he won’t beat the shit out of someone, but he’s not as reactionary as some of the other brothers. But when he gets pushed over the edge? Watch the fuck out. His road name isn’t just because he wields a hammer at construction sites.
Once he recovered, he shook his head and muttered, “Another one becomes a victim of Cupid.”
I could only grin at him, and shrug one shoulder.
But his words got me thinking. Valentine’s Day is coming up soon. I know Scarlett is going to be busy, I saw the calendar on the wall of her kitchen. She has a lot of orders and is planning on her business in the bakery increasing because of the holiday.
Hopefully she’ll think about hiring more staff, I know Crescent Sugar is only going to continue to grow. The DSMC will make sure of it and everything she makes is just too fucking good for her not to be almost too busy.
Valerie is great and I know she has a few other people who help out behind the counter, but she needs someone else in the kitchen with her. She’s stubborn though.
As we pull into the clubhouse, I’m relieved as hell to be home. From the looks on the faces of my brothers, I’m not the only one. I know Apostle can’t wait to get back to Sioux. The man is besotted and had to work to get her to accept him. They’re solid now.
It takes a few minutes to debrief Lucifer in his office and take a shower, but then I’m striding through the common room of the clubhouse. I have somewhere to be. And it’s already been too many days without seeing my woman.
The texts and phone calls were good, but they weren’t nearly enough. Maybe one day she’ll be bold enough to send me sexy pictures of herself. Fuck, if she sent me a video? I don’t even know what I would do with myself, other than jerk off.
When I hear someone call out my name, I mutter under my breath, “Fucking hell. I was so damn close.”
I turn toward the bar to find Hacker sitting there with a shit eating grin on his face. As I approach him, I give him a chin lift. His eyes are glimmering with amusement. At least he’s not telling me something went down with my woman. He wouldn’t find that something to joke about; none of my brothers would.
“Just wanted to let you know everything’s good with your girl,” even though there’s a lightness in his voice, there’s an edge of steel that tells me he took his assignment to look over her seriously. “I’m still waiting on everything I need to get her fully hooked up so I can monitor her security system. Should be here in a few days. Until then, any movement on the cameras at night will send me an alert. It’s been quiet while you’ve been gone.”
“Thanks, brother,” I say sincerely.
“Of course.”
Tack walks up at that moment and slaps me on the back while grinning at Hacker. The guys are best friends, and they do most things together. I’ve seen them rail the same woman more than once at one of the club’s parties.
“You off to see your girl,” Tack teases me.
“Fuck, yes, I am,” I growl. “The fact that you fuckers think it’s funny to slow me down is pissing me off.”
Tack’s loud laugh attracts attention and then all the brothers who were on the run with me and others who were already hanging out in the common room head our way. I groan, the sound filled with annoyance.
These guys are going to try and bust my balls. Not that I give a fuck, but the longer I stand here the more it feels like ants are crawling all over me. I need to see my woman.
It’s a damn good thing these guys are my brothers.
“Who’s Frenzy going to see?” I don’t even turn to see who is asking the question; it doesn’t matter.
“He’s been struck by Cupid’s arrow, brothers,” Hacker’s voice booms.
I look around and see surprise on the face of my brothers who hadn’t heard about my Sugar already from me. I’m a little surprised it hasn’t spread around the clubhouse already. These guys are bigger gossips than the Old Ladies.
“Yup,” I pop the p, not giving a single fuck.
I want them all to know Scarlett is claimed. That’ll mean that when I bring her around, they’ll leave her the fuck alone. Hopefully. Maybe.
Honestly, they’ll probably still flirt with her just to piss me off.
That’s fine, I can beat most of these guys in the ring.
“Frenzy found a lady?” Loot doesn’t even try to hide the surprise in his voice.
“Yeah,” Hacker fills in the details for him, “you know the bakery the Old Ladies wanted us to protect? He met the owner and fell in love with her.”
Loot lets out a low whistle before studying me closely. “Is that so?”
I cross my arms across my chest and stare him down. Then I do the same with the rest of my brothers. “That’s so.”
“You claiming her?” Raphael is normally pretty quiet, but I know one thing he’s never stood for is disrespect when it comes to women. Sure, he’ll let a brother make his own mess, when necessary, but he’ll also be first in line when someone’s treated a woman wrong.
“You better fucking believe I’m claiming her,” I tell him without a shred of hesitation. “I’ll be bringing it to the table soon. I’ll bring Scarlett by before then so she can meet all you assholes. She knows the Old Ladies already.”
“Just make sure you give her the lay of the land,” Raphael gives me a pointed look.
As if I’d bring her around without warning her. There’s no fucking way I’d allow her to be blindsided by this life. It’s not for everyone, but my girl is feisty and strong. The Old Ladies already love her.
She’ll fit in perfectly.
Except the club angels could try and make waves. They don’t seem to like it when one of the brothers finds their woman. It seems they haven’t gotten it through their heads yet that the likelihood of a brother making an angel their Old Lady is slim to none.
I can’t say it’s never happened since Heather was an angel who was then claimed by three brothers. Their relationship isn’t the norm, even for bikers, but it works for them.
“Not to worry, I wouldn’t throw her to the lions for slaughter,” I assure him, and he gives me a nod. The conversation might be over, but I know he’ll keep an eye on me. And her. “Stop slowing me down,” I snarl. “I have a woman to go and see.” I wave my hand toward the brothers who were on the run with me. “I’ve already seen some of you fuckers for too many days in a row.”
When I head toward the clubhouse doors, no one stops me this time, but the laughter of my brothers and their taunts follow me. I can’t help but grin as I stride right to my bike, head out of the gate, and toward my woman.
“I’m coming, Sugar, and I’ve missed you.”
By the time I make it to her place, I’m exhausted from the run. It seems the closer I get to her, the more I just want to be wrapped up in her comfort. She answers the door with exhaustion written all over her face and dressed in comfy pajamas. I should feel bad that she was probably getting ready for bed or was already asleep, but I don’t.
I scoop her up in my arms and carry her back to her room after making sure the door is locked behind me. I bury my face in her hair and take a deep breath.
“I’ve missed you,” I murmur against her curls.
Her hands wrap around my neck, and she tips back enough to look up into my eyes. I can see the questions in her eyes and the wariness to let me in
“You need to get one thing straight in your head, Scarlett,” my voice is firm. “I might go out on runs. I might even go to another chapter’s clubhouse. But what I’ll never do is step out on you. You’re it for me.” Her lips part and her eyes go round. “I know it’s fast, but I don’t fucking care. You’re all I can think about, you’re all I want.”
She sighs and snuggles into my chest before whispering, “I missed you too, Dean.”
Fuck, my name on her lips again. It does something to me.
“Let’s go to bed, Sugar,” I rasp, and she nods.
The moment I’m down to my boxers and wrapped around her softness with my head on the pillow, I’m out. She’s exactly what I need in my life and I’m not letting her go. Not now, not ever.
