Chapter 7

CHAPTER SEVEN

“How do you want to go in, boss?”

“Front door always works for me,” Leo replied, walking to the front of the line at Dark Skye and past the bouncer stationed there without a word.

The vamp hollered at them, but Leo kept walking.

The little shit who looked like he couldn’t be more than twenty years old wasn’t the one he was there to see.

“Not exactly what I meant,” Caleb said with a grin, “but I’ve got no complaints.”

“None here either,” Preston stated, following them both in.

They stalked down a hallway and into the club, where the music was loud, and the alcohol, drugs, and blood were flowing. Leo shook his head in disgust. He was glad his precious mate hadn’t made it past the front door.

He chuckled to himself. He was probably the only one who would ever call Hollie precious. It had been just over four weeks since she became alpha-mate, and she’d taken over like a damn tornado. She was perfect, and his.

“Let’s get this done. I want to get home to my mate.”

“She’s safe, Alpha,” Preston said, his gaze roaming around the room. “Caiden’s with her.”

Leo grunted, barely holding back his shift as he watched a vampire with a small human shoved in a corner. She looked blissed out, but he didn’t know if that was from drugs or pleasure from the vampire’s bite. Either way, he hoped it was of her own free will.

“Can I help you?”

Leo glanced over at the man who’d spoken, raising an eyebrow. “Yeah, you can take me to your coven leader. Now.”

The guy’s eyes widened, but then narrowed on him. “He’s not available.”

“Yeah, about that,” Caleb said, taking a step toward the guy who had to be way over six foot and almost three hundred pounds, “you might want to make him available. Quickly.”

Leo fought back a smile as the dickhead in the suit glared at Caleb. The man had no idea what Leo’s enforcer was capable of, but if he wasn’t careful, he was going to find out fast.

“He’s in the back,” Preston cut in, nodding to the other side of the room.

Ignoring the pissed-off bouncer thug, Leo turned and made his way across the dance floor, Caleb and Preston right behind him.

Soon, he was walking down another hall and stopping at the only door at the end.

He glanced over at Preston, who nodded once, then at the enraged man following them, before turning and kicking the door open.

It slammed against the inside wall, the top part falling off the hinge.

There were three men inside, but he knew immediately which one he was after. Alexander Griffin stood abruptly, buttoning his suitcoat and making his way around his desk as if he didn’t have a care in the world. “What can I do for you, gentlemen?”

The other two men took up positions beside him, one with his hand on the butt of a gun sticking out of a chest holster.

“Don’t do anything stupid,” Caleb warned, but then a shit-eating grin appeared. “Or do. Your call.”

“The hit you put on my mate, remove it. Now.” Leo snarled, letting his fangs drop, and his eyes darken, his lion coming to the surface.

“I can’t do that,” Griffin said calmly.

“Can’t or won’t?”

A smirk appeared, and the vamp tugged on his jacket sleeves. “Won’t.”

“Wrong answer,” Preston growled, stepping around Leo.

“And just who do you think you are?” Griffin demanded, his eyes beginning to change to a dark red that matched those stupid fucking shoes Hollie had told Leo about.

“The new leader of your coven,” Preston said, giving him a feral grin. “It’s been a while since I’ve been in charge of one, but when Leo told me about yours, I couldn’t resist the opportunity for a takeover.”

“You think you can just walk into my club and take over everything I’ve spent years building?”

“I know I can.”

When Griffin threw his head back and laughed incredulously, Preston struck, slamming his hand into the man’s chest and grasping his heart.

“What the fuck?” one of the other men yelled.

Preston pulled back, removing the vampire’s heart. Dropping it to the ground, he stabbed it with a dagger he’d pulled from a sheath in his boot. Leo watched dispassionately as Alexander Griffin collapsed onto the floor, taking his last breath.

One of the men rushed them, and Leo let his claws out, turning swiftly and gutting the vampire. Raising his eyebrows, he looked around the room. “Anybody else have an issue with this?”

One of them shook his head, moving back with his hands in the air. “Hell no.”

“Good. Now, I’m going home to my mate. Preston Carmichael is going to stay behind and clean up the mess his predecessor left behind.

The next one of you motherfuckers who thinks it’s a good idea to come after my mate might want to take a good long look here, because if you somehow get past Preston, you are going to have to deal with me.

” Bearing his huge fangs at the vampires who now flooded the office after the commotion, he growled, “Trust me, none of you want to fuck with me, my mate, or my pride.”

He could see a lot of confusion on the men’s faces, but that wasn’t his problem.

It was now up to Preston and the men he’d chosen to follow him to Albany to fix what was broken.

All good, strong men looking for a new and exciting life.

One they couldn’t find in the small town of Moonstone.

Leo wished them well, but his life was back on his ranch, with the woman who’d shown up and turned his life upside down.

“You good?” he asked Preston.

Preston nodded behind him as his chosen coven slipped into the room behind them. “I’m good. Go home. I’ll call you when the club is back on its feet so you can bring Hollie and her friend Jessica for a night out. I know they really wanted to come here.”

Leo grinned, reaching out to clap a hand on Preston’s shoulder. “Sounds like a plan.”
