Chapter Thirty-Three-Maria
CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE-MARIA
“ Y ou’re gonna be okay, sweetheart,” I coo to Anna who is sobbing uncontrollably in her hospital bed.
It was late when Giselle called me with Anna on the line. The latter was hysterical. She started spotting and was worried about the baby, so I told her to call an ambulance.
Luckily, we got there as they arrived, and Sisi and I both bullied our way into the vehicle.
Not like the EMTs were going to say no when there were six armed bodyguards with us.
In fact, one joined us in the back of the ambulance.
“Why the hell is it hot in here? I’m going to get a nurse,” Giselle says.
Luc texts me every fifteen minutes with an update and I am so relieved every time he does.
It’s been a week, and time has been crawling. But excitement fills me at the prospect of having him home.
“I can’t believe I made a big deal out of nothing,” Anna says, hiccuping from her crying bout.
“Don’t be silly, Anna. It could have been a very big deal. I’m just so thankful it’s not, and you and the baby are safe,” I tell her, and she tries to smile, but it’s wobbly.
“There! They fixed the AC,” Giselle says coming back with a cup of ice water for Anna.
“Thank you, guys. You’re the best,” she replies and drinks from the straw.
After a little while, I hear some commotion, and I look to see Nico Fury bearing down towards us, and he looks like a whirlwind.
He ignores us, going straight for his wife, and that is fine. Because I just want to see Luc.
I don’t have to wait long.
The piercing on his eyebrow glitters as he turns the corner and enters the hall leading to Anna’s private room, and I don’t wait.
I take off. I run to him, and my heart practically leaps with joy when he catches me and holds me tight.
“Fuck, that feels good. I am not leaving you home ever again, Baby Girl,” he says, groaning as he kisses me. “Next time, you are coming with me.”
It’s not an I love you , but it makes me wild for him.
