Epilogue

Three days later.

I need to talk to my girls. I grab my cell phone and start the video group chat.

“Fuck! It’s about time that you called us,” Beth hums, lowering her eyelids.

“Are you okay,” Vanessa asks, raising her brows.

“What happened,” Stacy says, chewing her lower lip.

“I’m good. I have a lot to tell you, but I want to tell you in person. Maybe we could have lunch,” I say, smiling, and tucking my hair behind my ear.

“Yeah, when? Today,” Beth asks, raising her brow.

“No, not today; I’m busy,” I hum.

“Well fuck! When then,” Stacy says, rolling her eyes.

“Girl, I got lots of calls from your Dad. He’s looking for you, and I told him that I didn’t know where you were,” Vanessa hums.

“Yeah, I did, too,” Beth says, nodding.

“Yeah, and he said that you didn’t marry Roberto. Is that true,” Stacy says, raising her brows.

“Yeah, I didn’t, but I want to have lunch with you and tell you everything. I’m so excited and happy. So, I’ll call you back later with the day and time,” I hum, smiling like a clown.

“Geeze, okay,” Beth hums, nodding.

“Yeah,” Stacy says.

“Alright, we have no choice,” Vanessa says, rolling her eyes.

“Thanks for being patient. I’ll let you know soon,” I say, blowing a kiss.

I end the video chat and fall onto my back on the bed, laughing.

I’m so happy, and I need to tell my girls everything. They’re going to be so surprised, but I know that they will be thrilled that I didn’t marry Roberto. They didn’t like him.

Geeze, I should have paid attention to that nagging feeling, but I was too focused on getting away from my father. My gut didn't give me a strong enough warning.

Okay, now I need to resign from the hospital because Thor doesn’t want me to work. I want to be with him because he makes me so happy. I need to catch up with my brothers and get to know my new family.

A couple of weeks later.

“Thor, the Prez approved the ultrasound machine since we have so many pregnant Old Lady,” Slash says, pulling the machine.

“Yeah, that’s fucking awesome.”

“I can’t wait to see the baby,” Athena says, turning up her lips.

Slash gets the machine set up and turns to Athena.

“I need to expose your stomach, so I’m going to spread these towels across your stomach. The gel will be cool,” Slash says, looking at us.

“Okay, no worries as long as it doesn’t hurt the baby,” Athena says, wide-eyed.

“It’s safe for the baby and you,” Slash says.

He turns on the machine, spreads the towels and gel on her stomach, and starts moving the small probe. The heartbeat blares and my heart stops.

“That’s the baby’s heartbeat,” Slash says, moving the probe.

“Do you know if it’s a boy or girl,” Athena asks, staring at the monitor.

I can’t see anything, but I’m so dumb-struck. I take Athena’s hand and stare at the monitor.

“It’s too soon to know the sex, but I do know that it’s two babies. This is one, and this is the other one. They’re the size of a pea,” Slash hums, moving his fingers on the monitor.

“Tw . . ins,” I croak.

“Oh my, twins. This is so exciting. Oh my God!”

“Yes, twins. In a few weeks, we could do the ultrasound again and see if we can see the sex,” Slash says, smiling.

“Okay, we’ll be here,” I say, looking at the screen.

“Baby, I love you,” I hum, looking at her. I run my fingers through her soft hair.

“I love you.”
