FIVE YEARS LATER…
Everly,
I should’ve told you everything right from the start.
I couldn’t say no.
I’ve done horrible things. I have to atone somehow.
If you’re receiving this, it means I’ve found the courage to do what needed to be done to help the one person who meant the world to the both of us.
Maverick is alive.
I can’t tell you much in case this letter gets intercepted, but Father threw him into a private insane asylum called Serenity Falls to protect a family secret Maverick unearthed the night he disappeared. I don’t know the state he’s in, only that he’s still alive.
Evie, you’re the only one I know that might love Maverick enough to risk it all to save him. I know this is a big ask, but if anyone can do it, it's you.
Please forgive me for keeping my distance from you for all these years. I thought I was doing the right thing. I just wanted to keep you as far away as possible from the secrets our family hides.
