Chapter 3 – Evelyn

EVELYN

“If you type any harder, you’re going to break the keyboard,” Marcus drawled.

I shot him a glare, not moving my head from my computer screen. “Can I help you, Mr. Stone?”

Marcus’s eyes darkened, and I willed him to rise to my bait. I was itching for a fight or somewhere to direct all this restless energy. But he didn’t.

“Just wondering if you have the Lachland contract back from product?”

I pointed towards the folder sitting on the edge of my desk and went back to my typing.

The words were swimming a bit on the screen, and my head was pounding from the concussion, but I didn’t stop.

I was irrational and cranky, something Danny informed me of this morning when he called with an update.

But I couldn’t help it. Despite searching all day yesterday for more information on the Kingfisher, Luke Jones, and the FIA agents, we had come up with nothing.

Zilch. Nada. And it was driving me crazy.

Marcus took the folder gingerly, eyeing me like I was a wild animal. I blew out a breath. I had to get myself together. “I’m sorry,” I apologized. “I’m just…frustrated.”

He smiled at me, flashing a devastating dimple. “It’s all right, Miss Harper.”

I smiled tightly back at him, then he turned and went back to his office.

I bit my lip. It was weird hearing him call me Miss Harper.

But if we were going to act like everything was normal, showing up to work in a polyamorous relationship was not going to help convince everyone that there was nothing to see here.

So for now, I was back to being just their assistant, and they were back to being my bosses.

Sebastian had been the hardest to convince, but Alexander, surprisingly, was a close second in the argument that he didn’t want to hide our relationship.

It wasn’t going to be forever, just while the FIA was in town.

Plus, it would give me more time to come to terms with the fact that I was, in fact, in a five-way relationship.

I hadn’t been in a relationship in, well, ever, and now all of a sudden, I was in one with four men.

“Evel—Miss Harper, do you have the Kensington meeting notes?” Alexander stuck his head out of his office.

“Just sent them to your email.”

He nodded, then his eyes narrowed. “Did you eat lunch?”

I tried really hard not to roll my eyes, but I don’t think I was successful by the snort that came from my left. “Yes, I ate.”

Alexander opened his mouth, likely to ask me what I constituted as lunch, but thankfully Sebastian intervened. Pretty sure the half of a sandwich I had wasn’t going to satisfy Alexander.

“I just sent you the files from R I am.”

Sebastian moved, allowing only enough space for him to slide his hand over my thigh and between my legs. His touch over my panties was torture. Slow and steady, with the lightest pressure. Just enough to drive me insane.

“Why are you teasing me? That’s not fair,” I said breathlessly. My hips bucked as I tried to get him to touch where I needed it.

He arched an eyebrow, a wicked smirk playing at his lips. “Not fair? What’s not fair is you wandering around this office all day in this skirt and not acknowledging that you’re mine.” He smiled, but his eyes were serious. Was he not on board with the plan?

My heart dropped into my stomach, and I tried to look away, but he caught my chin and pulled my gaze back to him.

“Don’t do that. I agreed to the plan. We all did. But it’s only fair you get to experience a bit of the ache I feel every time I look at you. Don’t worry, though.” His voice dropped an octave, and a shiver ran down my spine. “I’m not going to leave you wanting.”

My body melted into his touch as he finally slid aside my panties, and his finger circled my clit.

“Fuck,” I moaned.

He moved again, sliding his fingers deep inside me.

My hips pressed forward as he went deeper, and I shamelessly rode out my need on the coffee counter at work.

“That’s it, darling. Just like that. Show me what you need.”

Sebastian’s palm pressed against my clit as his fingers played me like a damn fiddle. The tingling feeling I’d grown to love was there, slowly building deep inside me as I moved against him.

Fire burned through me in a raging torrent, and my head fell back against the cabinet behind me. It almost let in the reality of where we were and what we were doing, but the burning need for Seb held my focus only on him.

“There you go. Just like that.” He groaned, and as my mouth opened to let out a cry I didn’t even know was in me, his hand came over my mouth, and he grinned.

I bit him. I couldn’t help it. The irrational anger and joy that hit me all at once—of wanting him to hear me and also realizing where we were—was honestly insane.

He laughed, his eyes twinkling as pleasure took over, and my body shook for him.

His lips covered mine as I came back down from the high.

Knock, knock, knock.

Sebastian and I froze.

“Ahem.” Alexander’s voice came through the door. “I hate to disturb you two, but Miss Harper’s phone is ringing.”

An awkward laugh burst out of me before I could help it, and Sebastian’s eyes lit up at the sound. I buried my head in my hands, my cheeks red. Sebastian gently tugged my hands away, eyes dancing with mirth as he kissed me.

“Come on, my darling. Nothing to be ashamed of. He’s just jealous.”

“I am.” Alexander’s thick voice came through the door again. Fuck, he was still listening? How long had he been at the door?

Sebastian helped me off the counter and opened the door as I straightened my clothes and got my wits about me.

Alexander was leaning against the door frame, blue eyes dark with desire as they traced over my body.

Deciding my best bet was to act like nothing had happened, I stepped past him and answered the phone at my desk.

“Stone Dynamic Security, this is Evelyn Harper.”

“Miss Harper, it’s Roy down at the front desk. There are some FIA agents here to ask you some questions.”
