Epilogue

T aja

Two Months Later

“Girl, I’m worn the fuck out!” I said into the phone, talking to Allison.

“I bet. Weston is not letting up off that ass no time soon. I’m lowkey jealous. I wish I had a man obsessed with me like that.”

I laughed. “No, you don’t. Everything on my body is sore. I’m debating on getting another room just so I can put some distance between us.”

Suddenly, a hard smack was delivered to my ass, causing me to yelp. I spun on my heels to Weston, wearing a silly smirk on his face.

“Damn, girl, I heard that through the phone. Yeah, let me get off the phone. That man is about to take you right now, and don’t give two fucks that you’re on the phone!” She laughed. “Love you, best friend. See you soon!”

Allison ended the call, not waiting for me to reply. I scowled at Weston, who still had a silly smirk on his face.

“You saw me on the phone,” I fussed, trying to walk past him but failed when he grabbed me around my waist, pulling me to him.

He placed a kiss on my ear and then my neck. “I’m sorry, baby. Forgive me.”

I playfully rolled my eyes because Weston knew I could never stay mad at him. It had been two months since TRU’s gala. Since then, Weston hadn’t let me out of sight. We spent every second together, and I didn’t mind it at all. We were currently in Jamaica in honor of Weston’s mother. She always wanted to go to Jamaica, so Weston booked a week-long trip for us, Rae, and Keezy. Allison would join us later. Weston paid for everything. He and Rae decided it was best to bring some of their mother’s ashes and spread them in the ocean.

“I forgive you. Don’t let it happen again,” I teased.

I moved around the room freely without a care in the world. We had reservations tonight with Rae and Keezy at a local restaurant. I began pulling out my outfit when Weston called my name.

“Taja,”

“Yeah, what’s up?”

“You know I love you, right?”

I nodded. “Yes, Wes, I know. Stop trying to sweet talk me out of my draws.”

“Marry me.”

My eyes damn near fell out of the sockets looking at Weston. “Weston, you’re having a moment right now.”

“You’re right, and that moment is, I want you to be my wife. Marry me here on the island. Your best friend will be here soon. We can wait ’til she gets her. It can be small and intimate.”

I didn’t know what to say.

“Please say yes. You changed my life. I meant what I said. You will forever be in my life. I don’t want you going anywhere, and I refuse to wait to claim what’s mine. You were mine then, and you are now. I gotta let the world know. Be my wife.”

“You don’t think we are moving too fast?”

“If my mother’s death didn’t teach me anything, it taught me that life is short. Live it to the fullest.”

I stared into his eyes. I knew Weston meant every word. Since meeting Weston, I knew he was stubborn and arrogant but a special person. Weston was a man who stood on business, and he was currently standing on it. I didn’t want anyone else because I knew no one else could fill his shoes.

“Yes, I’ll marry you.”

Weston lifted me up and spun me around, kissing me all over my face, causing me to squeal.

“Thank you, baby. This is one of the best days of my life.”

“Mine too. I love you, Weston.”

“I love you too, Ta. No matter the differences.”
