Chapter 26

Steel was becoming frantic. Two weeks had passed since the complaint was made to the High Council yet not a word from them came back about their notifying the Silver Point Pack.

Fearing for his mate’s safety, he decided to call them and demand an update.

He also had to make decisions about hiring enforcers.

His property was very well protected electronically but he also wanted a fighting force at his disposal. He was reading through a list of candidates Slate sent him when Oracle glided into his office. Tossing the list on his desk, he glanced up at his mother. “Good morning, Mom, what’s up?”

“Have you heard back from the High Council yet?”

“No, I plan to call them today. It’s been over two weeks and they should have reported back to me by now,” Steel growled.

“That’s a good idea, sweetie” Then she added, “I have the name of a doctor who will be available to stay here for the last two months of Jackson’s pregnancy and then for a month after the baby is born to make sure no problems arise.”

“Thanks, Mom.”

“Sweetie, nothing is too good for my first grandchild,” Oracle said, a wide smile lighting up her face. “His name is Dr. Ian Wallace and here’s his contact information.”

“I’ll get right on this. Colton has given me his equipment list but he wants a doctor to look it over first,” said Steel.

“How’s Jackson feeling?”

“He’s sleeping right now. The tiredness is taking its toll on him but I think the morning sickness is getting better so hopefully an end to both is in sight,” Steel sighed.

“Yes, it is coming to an end so just hang on for a little while longer,” assured Oracle, bending down, kissing Steel’s cheek.

“Oh, one more thing, Mom, I want to surprise Jackson before he begins to show too much. With all this Silver Point pack business, I haven’t been able to romance him the way he deserves.

So, I need a favor. Can you arrange for the helicopter to be at my disposal?

I want to whisk my mate away for a babymoon. ”

“Oh, what a lovely idea!” exclaimed Oracle, smiling broadly. “Consider it done,” she said and then, kissing Steel’s cheek again, left his office.

Steel knew exactly what he wanted to do for Jackson’s babymoon; he was sure his mate would love it.

Of course, it had to be a surprise so when it was revealed, his mate would have a teary ‘Oh Babe’ moment.

Deep down, Steel knew the babymoon would mean as much to him as it would to his mate but before he made reservations, he’d wait until Jackson’s morning sickness and tiredness abated so they both could enjoy it.

Fuming as the pack’s attorney reviewed the complaint against Silver Point, Josiah tapped his fingers in an endless beat, waiting for the lawyer’s advice.

He’d told Rudy to keep looking for Jackson, his mate, and his brothers despite the High Council’s warning.

He’d thought about how to get around the ban on harming members of the Blackwood Pack and the first step of his plan was the reason Boris Calhoun was sitting in his office.

“Well, is there a way to contest the complaint so the High Council declines to investigate it?” snarled Josiah, impatiently.

“The Complaint is well put together and seems to have all the elements necessary for the High Council to launch an investigation,” Boris said, before pausing at Josiah’s growl.

“However, the one point I see as a problem for the Blackwood Pack is, they don’t have an eyewitness to testify it was Silver Point Pack who committed the crime.

The complaint gives circumstantial evidence but contains no concrete proof to support their claim your pack is responsible. ”

Josiah let out his breath. “So how would I go about challenging it?”

“Demand they produce an eyewitness who can clearly identify who killed the Fox River Pack,” Boris explained. “If they can’t do that, then insist the accusation be withdrawn.”

Josiah smiled darkly. “Thank you, Boris. I’ll do as you suggest. And thanks, also, for coming out at such short notice.”

Boris stood and shook Josiah’s hand before walking out of his office. Josiah then summoned Rudy to his office.

“I want you to find out where those boys are and once you locate them call me immediately, is that understood?”

“Yes,” said Rudy, somewhat puzzled. “But you’ve already told me to find them. What’s different this time?”

“This time, I don’t want any action taken against them unless I personally give you the okay. You’ll kill them only on my word, understand?” growled Josiah. “Are you clear on my instructions?”

“Yes,” answered Rudy.

Jackson was dreaming of a toddler whose silky black hair kept falling into his eyes as he played hide and seek with Steel. Reaching out to catch him when he ran past, Jackson’s eyes shot open when Steel murmured, “What are you dreaming about? Our pup again?”

Steel was rewarded with a slow, sleepy smile from Jackson as his mate turned into his arms.

Jackson yawned before he asked, “What time is it?” wondering how long he’d slept.

“Late enough that you slept through your morning sickness,” answered Steel.

“Well, that’s a blessing,” chortled Jackson.

Swatting his mate’s ass, Steel said, “Smartass,” reaching down to Jackson’s belly. Caressing his mate’s tiny baby bump, he said, “Dakota made you a late lunch so it’s time to get out of bed and eat something for that growing pup.”

Jackson rolled out of bed. “Good, because my stomach is growling and I feel like I could eat a whole deer,” he said.

Then, pausing at the door, he announced, “Last one in the shower has to blow me,” giggling as his mate jumped quickly out of bed, making a mad dash for the bathroom.

But Jackson got there first and, with a leer on his face, he sassed, “Make it slow and tight, babe. I want to feel it all the way to my toes.”

Steel loved his teasing mate but it had been a while since he saw this side of him.

Between the vomiting and tiredness, the pregnancy was taking a hard toll on Jackson’s body and, on top of that, Steel knew the emotional stress of the Silver Point kill order weighed heavily on Jackson’s mind.

So, it was a welcome surprise that Jackson was in a playful mood, and damned if Steel wasn’t ready to play.

He walked into the shower, seeing Jackson’s perfect bubble butt staring up at him as his mate bent forward wiggling his ass, tempting Steel to do more than a blow job. He groaned as his cock hardened, realizing Jackson was preparing himself for Steel. Hot

fucking damn, his lover was making sure Steel was going to enjoy this just as much as Jackson did.

Steel’s hand reached for his hard, leaking cock—tugging it slowly and lazily, in no hurry to rush this along—while gazing at Jackson’s fingers going just as slowly in and out of his perfect, pink puckered rose.

He could hear the gasps and other sounds coming from his mate as their need grew.

Steel loved all the sounds Jackson made but especially those gasping moans that brought him to the verge of coming every time.

Deciding not to waste an opportunity like this, Steel brushed Jackson’s fingers away, growling, “Mine,” replacing them in one thrust with his aching cock.

Bottoming out in his mate, Steel stilled, giving Jackson time to get used to the fullness in him.

“Move, now!” demanded Jackson. With one hand on his mate’s hip to hold him in place, Steel reached around with his other, wrapping his fingers around Jackson’s stiff cock, gripping it, stroking it slowly, giving little twists to the tip each time he reached it.

Jackson was alternately in heaven or being driven insane by all the sensations tingling through his body.

When he asked for it slow and hard, he never dreamed Steel knew how to deliver it so perfectly; he was now in danger of melting from the heat his mate was generating in him.

All rational thought had left him, instead incoherent whimpers, moans, and gasps steadily streamed from his lips as he tried to remain standing.

As his mate’s legs began to give out, Steel wrapped his arm around Jackson to hold him up.

He knew his slow and hard thrusts were pushing Jackson to the heights of frustration, keeping him from coming.

As his mate grew more frustrated, he knew Jackson’s orgasm would reach new heights when Steel finally allowed it.

He loved hearing his mate begging for relief—the endless stream of disjointed, slurred words and sounds erupted from Jackson’s throat as Steel continued to thrust into Jackson’s tight hole.

Looking down and watching his cock disappear into Jackson, he felt his balls start to tighten at the sight, signaling he was ready, so he sped up.

Jack-hammering into his mate’s pucker, Steel also increased his strokes on Jackson’s cock.

Faster and faster, harder and harder, until Steel’s hips were a blur of motion as he was driven to finish.

Crying out, Jackson’s orgasm finally found freedom, exploding out the end of his cock, his ass clenching down on Steel’s rod, causing a chain reaction as a tsunami of cum flooded his insides.

Steel roared out Jackson’s name; his incisors emerged and he bit down on his mate’s neck once again, drinking the blood that rushed into his mouth.

Withdrawing his teeth slowly, Steel licked the bite to help it heal.

Leaning on his mate’s back, Steel’s breathing was erratic as he came down from the height of his passion.

Standing up slowly, he lifted Jackson up against his chest. Wrapping both arms tightly around his mate, he nuzzled his nose in the hollow of Jackson’s neck, before licking the bite again.

He listened to Jackson’s heart, still beating in double time as his mate drew in ragged, deep breaths, trying to still his body.

They stood like that for a while as the water cascaded over their bodies, taking with it all the visible signs of their lovemaking. Finally, when their bodies had calmed down, they washed each other silently, lovingly caressing each other.

After rinsing off, Steel dried himself, grabbed a heated towel, sat down, then lifted Jackson onto his lap.

Slowly drying his mate’s body, he continued to press kisses all over his chest, neck, and face.

And when his mate was dry, Steel hugged Jackson tightly, whispering into his ear, “I love you, now and forever, and that won’t even be enough time, mo chroí.

You are my heart, my soul, my everything. ”

Jackson felt better than he had in a long time after eating the large, late lunch Dakota made for him. Now, sitting next to Steel in his office, he waited for the call to the High Council to be answered. After several rings, a voice said, “Wolfgrim Morris here.”

Steel replied, “Mr. Morris, I’m Steel Valentin, mate to Jackson, the Alpha of Blackwood Pack. I have you on speaker phone and Jackson is sitting next to me.”

“Hello Mr. Morris, I’m Alpha Blackwood,” said Jackson.

“Hello Alpha. Let me get straight to the point. I was unable to reach Alpha Silver Point by phone for several weeks…”

“How come?” asked Steel.

“I don’t know why he wasn’t available to take my call. I was only told there was an emergency in his pack. Since time was of the essence, I decided to personally visit Silver Point Pack so I could give the Alpha the Complaint and the official Warning. This has been accomplished,” Morris explained.

“What’s an official warning?” asked Jackson.

“When a complaint has been filed against a pack, the High Council gives an official warning to that pack about not harming any member of the complaining pack,” explained Morris.

Steel looked at Jackson. “What comes next?”

“The Silver Point Pack has sixty days to file an answer to the Complaint,” replied Morris.

“Okay, so right now it’s a waiting game until they answer?” asked Jackson.

“That is correct. When I receive their answer, I will forward a copy to you. Until then, there is nothing to be done,” Morris explained.

“Thank you for the update. Good-bye, Mr. Morris,” said Steel.

“Good-bye,” added Jackson.

“Good-bye Alpha Blackwood, Mr. Valentin,” replied Morris.

Hanging up the phone, Steel contemplated the discussion. The High Council knew that Silver Point Pack had been officially warned and therefore would assume no harm would come to Jackson and his brothers. Steel wasn’t so sure. Silver Point Pack had already shown they were dishonorable.

What made their actions all the more sinister was the night they’d picked for the massacre—a new moon, the darkest night of the month. And then, if he added their killing of innocents—women and children—there was no other conclusion Steel could reach; he could not trust them.

Breaking the silence Jackson asked, “What do you think, babe, will my uncle behave himself and rescind the kill order on us?” He had his own ideas but wanted to hear Steel’s thoughts first.

“I would like to think so, but in reality, no, I don’t trust them.

Silver Point would kill all of you first and then beg forgiveness from the High Council,” replied Steel.

“But I have an idea I want to run past my father and brother first. I think we can force them to obey the High Council’s warning and rescind the kill order if their Alpha realizes there may be some unpleasant consequences if he doesn’t. ”
