Chapter 20
TWENTY
JUSTIN
For the past month I haven’t been able to focus on anything—food has lost its taste, I’ve lost my love for hockey.
Kingston is a shell. Brayden has resorted to staying away from us unless we’re training or working at the club.
Mom is angry and so is Roger. I don’t blame them, we ruined their wedding and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
The last thing I want to do right now is go to the club and sit in a small fucking office with my brothers…
the tension between the three of us is fucking thick.
We’ve never been divided like this before.
I hate it but I don’t know how to fix it.
None of them want to admit that they are in love with her.
Yes, she was a revenge plan. We thought she would be some shallow bitch that was hard to even interact with but we were wrong. Molly is fucking beautiful inside and out and we ruined her and the chance to truly get to love her.
I stalk into the office and say nothing to either of my brothers as I drop into my seat behind my desk. Before I can even bring my emails up, the door slams open and I balk at the sight of Molly’s best friend Lennon standing there with a dark look on her face.
Kingston jumps to his feet and rushes toward her but she pins him with a look of warning. “I’m not here because I even like the three of you, but Molly does.” Her words hit me right in the gut.
“Your point?” Brayden grits out.
“My point, asshole, is that my best friend is a good fucking person and didn’t deserve what the three of you fucking dicks did to her.
While you all hid, she was forced to face the blow back of that video and deal with the nasty comments from her peers and she took it like a champ.
But, it’s weighing on her.” I drop my head in shame.
“I’m sorry,” I mutter.
She scoffs. “Don’t be sorry, you pussy.” I snap my head up and scowl at the bitch. “Do you love her?”
“Yes,” I answer without hesitation.
She turns to Kingston next. “And you?”
“I fell in love with her the first night we met.” She nods at his answer, then turns to Brayden, who is still glaring at her.
“What about you?” Len pushes.
“Why the fuck should I answer you?” he snaps.
“Because, I am the only person who can get you in the same fucking room with her but I won’t do that if you dick heads are going to hurt her again.”
Bray stands and places his palms flat against his desk. “You’ve known for weeks that it was us behind the masks, why not tell her?” My eyes widen at his revelation.
She shrugs. “I think she knew deep down as well, but she didn’t want to hope too much in case she was wrong.
She’s been torn since she met you three at the rink.
The only reason she kept seeing the masked men is because they took the edge off, but it was you three she envisioned behind the masks.
She loves you all, whether you like it or not.
You broke her heart and it’s up to you to mend it and put those pieces back together, because my girl needs you and I need you to get rid of that shit stain Brady from hanging around her. ”
“I’ll snap his fucking neck,” Brayden growls.
“Do you love her?” she presses again.
Bray sighs and drops his gaze to his desk. “I fell in love with Molly Turner before we even met her.”
“How?” Len hedges.
He lifts his gaze and smiles, it’s a smile I haven’t seen on his face in years, since Brady took away his dream.
“From what Mom told me about her. I lied to the twins and told them she was a bitch because I wanted it to be true. I never wanted to love something as much as I did hockey in case that was ripped away from me as well, but look at where we are now? I can live without hockey but I don’t think I can live without her. ”
Lennon beams and nods. “Good answer, buddy. Now get your masks and follow me, it’s time you caught yourself a birdy.”
“Wait, what do you get out of this?” I ask.
The light dims in her eyes. “I can’t have who I want most, the next best thing is her getting her guys.”
T he three of us are using the trees as cover.
Lennon promised she will have Molly here and we’re trusting her to keep to her word.
We’ve already been waiting for forty minutes and as the time ticks by, I begin to lose hope that we will even get a chance to explain things to her—the thought flees when we hear their voices.
“Len, I told you I just wanted to cuddle up and read a book.” The sound of her voice is like music to my ears.
“Babe, I had to drag you in the shower and wash you myself. You need to get out of that dorm and live.” Hearing that has guilt eating me.
“I-I can’t, Len.” Fuck it, I can’t wait.
I move out from behind the tree and hear my brothers moving to stand on either side of me as we stare at the girls saying nothing.
Molly looks like she is about to cry. Lennon just looks smug, and I can see a bit of the devil inside that one.
The moonlight cast enough of a glow for me to see her face clearly and the black smudges under her eyes anger me—she hasn’t been sleeping.
“Birdy,” Bray purrs from beside me. Instantly her bottom lip begins to tremble.
“What the fuck?” Molly breathes out.
Before any of us can say another word Len turns to her.
“You are dying inside and I can’t sit by and watch.
You were there for me when shit fell apart and I was a mess.
I’m returning the favor. You love them, Lollie, and anyone with eyes can see they love you too.
” Molly shakes her head trying to deny it.
“If you want me to tell them to fuck off, I will, but you don’t really want that, do you? ”
She tears her gaze from her best friend to look at the three of us. I nudge each of my brothers to follow my lead and remove my mask. When she sees our faces a sob tears out of her. I want to go to her and hold her but Lennon shakes her head.
“Lollie, what do you want, babe?” Len whispers.
Molly inhales a deep breath then says, barely above a whisper, “Them.”
