Chapter 15 #2

This cannot be happening.

“Miss, turn around,” the taller one commands, and I shake my head as I grab my phone from my pocket, and the man growls, “Are you resisting arrest?”

“No, I'm calling Ice, you know, Caleb's grandfather and also a member of the Rebels MC,” I snap, my anger showing, and Cheryl narrows her eyes and demands, “What are you waiting for? She’s holding my son hostage!”

Oh, great, so I’ve gone from a kidnapper to suddenly holding the kid hostage, awesome.

I press on Ice’s number, putting the phone on loudspeaker just as I hear, “What’s going –”

Ice’s words are cut off as Cheryl gasps, “My baby!” as she rushes past me, shoving me into the door.

I grunt at the impact just as Caleb shakes his head and tries to run away from her, but he isn’t quick enough. She wraps her arms around him, and he shouts, “No, get off me, Holly, help!”

“What the fuck?” Ice answers.

“I need you to come to my place, and now, Cheryl is having me arrested for kidnapping Caleb,” I state, and he curses, causing the men to wince and take a step back.

Law enforcement, my ass.

“No, get off me!” Caleb shouts and shoves Cheryl away from him, and he rushes over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist while my daughter watches from the kitchen door in shock, tears streaming down her face, and that does it.

“Get out!” I demand of Cheryl, who sneers, “Not without my son!”

“You are trespassing. Get out of my home right now, or so help me god,” I threaten and I look at the officers and snap, “I have two kids on this property. Two very upset kids. While she makes a scene, you both stand there, letting it happen. Why? Because she said I kidnapped a child I teach?” The taller man's eyes widen, and I scoff, “Get that woman out of my house right now!” Several pipes rumble in the distance, and the shorter one sighs, “I told you to let me call Doc to get the facts before coming here on her word. We went to school together.”

The taller one winces just as Ice stops near my car, climbs off his bike, and rushes over to me with face like thunder.

“Grandpa,” Caleb cries and rushes over to him just as Lyra takes Caleb’s place, her arms around my hips.

“Mads,” Doc says as he walks over with a scowl, then looks at the taller man who winces again as Doc growls, “Chairs.”

Wait, seriously, Chairs?

“Doc,” he says, “what can we do for you? Because you know I’ll have to take you in if you…”

“If I what?” Doc speaks over the tall man, “If I confirm that Caleb Lee is here because his dad is out of town for a few days, and he wanted his girl to watch him?”

The tall man, Chairs, which is a weird last name, states, “His mother –”

Ice cuts the man off this time and snaps, “Is not on the birth records, doesn’t have custody, and is only allowed supervised visits, which, if you’d read Caleb's file, you would have known!”

Chairs flinches, and I scoff, gaining his attention, already seeing what is going on.

“Let me guess, she gave you a sexual favor, right?” I confirm, and the man's face reddens while the smaller man looks at him sharply. I shake my head and look at a smug Cheryl, who clearly wanted to cause trouble and state, “If you don’t get out of my home in the next five seconds, I have every legal right to remove you forcibly, you are trespassing.”

“Now here, miss, threatening –”

I cut the man off this time, and I confirm, “Is it, or is it not trespassing?”

The man swallows as he looks at a now pissed off Cheryl before nodding reluctantly, and the short officer demands, “Get out of her home now!” before looking at me and saying, “I’m sorry for the mix up, mam….”

I scoff just as Cheryl barges past me, knocking into my shoulder and inadvertently knocking into my seven-year-old, who cries, “Ow!” and I growl, taking a step forward while the bitch curls her lip at my daughter.

Do not hit her, do not hit her, I try to remind myself as I tighten my hold on my daughter, my anger building.

The short guy clears his throat, “I uh, I think we’re done here,” but I quickly state, “No we’re not,” shocking him and I sneer, “You’ve allowed that woman to barge into my home, accuse me of things that were not accurate all because your partner there got off by her and you’ve just watched her hurt my daughter,” I look at Cheryl and I state, “I want to press charges.”

Her eyes widen, and Chairs clears his throat and asks, “On what terms?” while the shorter officer sighs at his idiocy.

Asshole.

I look at him and explain his job for him and state, “Trespassing, causing bodily harm to a minor, oh, and while we’re at it, maybe we should have wasting police time?”

He flinches while the shorter officer nods as he looks softly at my crying little girl, just as Cheryl demands, “You can’t do that! She stole my son!”

“No, she was watching him for Dirty, and this is bullshit,” Doc growls before he looks at me and says, “Why don’t you come to the clubhouse, Hol?”

Yeah, no, that is the last place I want to be right now.

I shake my head, and his face pales as I whisper, “I need some space, today, it’s, it’s a lot,” and it is.

My great aunt is gone, whom I never got to say goodbye to, and now this? I need time with just my daughter and time to think about whether being with Alex is the right thing to do for all of us, especially if this is what is going to happen which isn’t healthy for both our kids.

“Caleb,” I say, gaining his attention, his tear stained face coming my way. I give him a small smile and state, “I’ll see you tomorrow at school, okay?”

“A-Am I not staying now?” he whispers with a stutter, and even though it hurts me to do so, despite my heart telling me to grab hold of him, I shake my head and reply, “No, sweetheart, I think it’s best you stay with your grandpa until your dad gets home, okay?”

It is for the best, for all of us.

Alex and I, we’ve gone into this way too quickly and I need to put the brakes on for a little while before our kids get hurt.

He sniffles but nods once, and I look at Cheryl, who is glaring my way, one more time, and I know she’s about to cause a lot of trouble for me.

Shaking my head, I look at the police officers and I demand, “I will be expecting a visit from your Sargent for this,” and both men flinch before I blow a kiss to Caleb then close my front door Doc’s, “Holly!” just reaching my ears but I ignore it as my phone rings and with my arms wrapped around my little girl, I answer without looking at the ID.

“Hello?” I sigh but tense when Freya states, “Mama is now suing for full custody of the child. You should have listened to me, and you’ve only got yourself to blame, especially considering you’ve apparently been sleeping with a student’s parent like a whore.”

Her words are crap, I know this, because of the court order and the fact Lyra doesn’t even know them but how would she even know about Alex?

I blink. Dammit, Mama!

Shaking my head, I hang up on Freya knowing I’ll have her reported yet again for this and I drop my head as I squeeze my sobbing daughter to my body.

Okay, so today really isn’t my day.
