Chapter 6

DERRICK

Charlotte and I rush to the hospital where Sienna has been taken.

Yvette will be here a little later once she has wrapped up her event.

Sienna would be upset if she left to look after her, but I know Yvette isn’t going to want to stay either.

Thankfully, Charlotte speaks French and can work out that Sienna is safe and in a room being checked out.

Something about a drunk driver plowing into their taxi.

“I need to call Nessa,” I tell Charlotte as I pull out my phone and dial.

“Hey, D, what’s going on? How’s Sienna doing? Is she feeling better?” Vanessa says when she answers the phone.

I burst out crying. “Sienna was in a car accident. I’m at the hospital. I don’t know yet if she’s good or not. The doctors won’t let me see her. I’m so worried. She sounded so scared when she called me.”

“Fuck, D. I’m coming. Let me find the next flight to Paris and I’ll let you know. Stay strong. She’s going to be okay,” Vanessa says, trying to reassure me.

“I can’t lose her, Ness,” I say, breaking down.

“You won’t. I promise you. Sienna is a fighter.” With that she ends the call.

I must fall asleep in the waiting room as a nurse wakes me up, speaking in French.

“She says we can see Sienna, but she is sleeping.” Charlotte translates.

“You go, I’ll wait here.” I follow the nurse down the stark corridors, the antiseptic smell turning my stomach until we stop outside Sienna’s room.

When I walk in, she’s all hooked up and the machines are beeping.

She looks like a sleeping angel, so fragile.

I rush over and kiss her forehead and tell her everything is going to be okay.

“They’ve just arrived at the hospital,” Charlotte informs me.

Vanessa messaged to let me know Evan was on his way.

I’m still on the fence about him, but at least he’s pulled his head out of his own ass to be there for Sienna.

Then I hear footsteps, and when I look up, I see the LA crew walking up the corridor.

Evan looks like shit, good. And then I see Vanessa and rush over and hug her.

“We got here as soon as we could,” she tells me.

“I know. Thank you. She’s still out of it. I was able to sit with her last night for a little bit, but then I was kicked out. I slept here.”

Sebastien Sanchez walks back from the café with coffees for us all at the right moment. The look on Evan’s face seeing his rival there is gold, like I said, I’m a petty bitch, he deserves a bit of humble pie after what he did to my bestie.

“How is she?” Evan asks me, and I can see he is trying not to let Sebastien rattle him.

“The doctors are just talking to her. She’s lucky,” I snap back.

I haven’t had my coffee so it’s hard to mask my true feelings.

Evan is taken aback but takes it on the chin.

“Thanks for coming.” I’ll give him that, he could have not hopped on a plane and flown halfway across the world, maybe there is hope.

What the fuck is he doing here? I look over Evan’s shoulder and don’t understand why Chance is here in Paris.

We’ve been speaking every single day since London, and there may have been one or two or ten FaceTime jerk-off sessions, but I never expected that he would show up here.

I step away from my friends, and I can’t hide the smile on my face seeing him. What does this mean?

“Hey,” I say, giving him a hug as Blake disappears, probably to check in with Charlotte. “What are you doing here?”

“You seemed stressed, and I thought …” He rubs the back of his neck nervously, those biceps popping and pulling my focus from him.

“You thought you would come help destress me?” I tease, loving the way his cheeks turn bright red as he quickly looks around to see if anyone notices.

“Something like that.” He smiles.

“I appreciate you being here in whatever capacity it is.”

Suddenly, the doors to Sienna’s room open, and the doctor and nurses file out. Their eyes widen when they see us all sitting in the waiting room. Some of the medical team recognize the guys, this is going to get out now, and it’s the last thing Sienna needs.

“Who is Derrick?” the doctor asks.

I step forward and follow the doctor into her room.

“Hey, princess.” I smile, happy that she looks better, then suddenly she bursts into tears.

I hug her, reassuring her that everything is going to be okay.

“Si, what happened? What did the doctors say? It can’t be that bad.

” She chews on her bottom lip. “Vanessa’s here, sweetie, she’s waiting outside. ”

Sienna looks relieved. “Tell her to come in. I need to see her. There’s something I have to tell you both.

But please make sure Charlotte doesn’t come in.

She can’t know, not yet.” Yvette says she will leave us alone.

Weird but okay. I call Vanessa in, she looks confused but rushes over and hugs Sienna.

“I’m happy to see you alive,” Vanessa says, bursting into tears. “Shit, look at your face … all those bruises.”

“The doctors told me something, and I am freaking out,” Sienna confesses. “I’m pregnant.”

What the fuck!

Vanessa and I stare at each other. Did we hear her correctly? The silence in the room stretches out for far too long causing Sienna to start freaking out, her monitors going crazy.

“Calm down, Sienna, you’ll have a heart attack,” I tell her.

“Shit, Sisi. Evan’s outside,” Vanessa tells her, looking very conflicted.

The monitors go crazy again. “I can’t see him.”

“Calm down, you don’t have to see him. Not until you’re ready, okay.” Vanessa tries to calm her.

When Sienna seems to have herself under control she continues to explain about her pregnancy. “I’m ten weeks. How the hell did I not know I was pregnant? I had my period and everything.”

“Now it makes sense why you’ve been so sick. It’s been morning sickness.” I smile. My bestie is having a baby. She is going to make the best mummy. Think of the outfits, they are going to look gorgeous. I hope it’s a little girl so we can play dress up.

“You’re going to have to tell him,” Vanessa tells her.

“I know, but not yet.” The beeping of the machine goes off. “I don’t get why he’s here?”

“Did you hit your head in the accident, too? Why the hell do you think he’s here?” I tell her. Not that I am Team Evan at all, but the fact he showed up goes a small way in forgiving him.

“He’s been a mess, Sienna. The whole plane ride he’s been so worried about you,” Vanessa tells her, but this upsets her.

“I can’t see him. Not today. Not until I’ve processed what’s just happened. Not until I know everything is okay with the baby.”

“Christian, Blake, and Chance are here as well,” Vanessa states.

Sienna looks at me. “Chance?”

“Not sure what that’s about, but I’m happy to see him.” I smirk.

“Looks like he might care about you, D,” Sienna adds. I shrug. I’m not getting my hopes up. “You’re in the city of love, anything can happen. Spend the day with Chance tomorrow, okay?” Sienna insists.

“I’m not leaving you,” I tell her. No dick is worth not being there for my friend, even if it’s good dick.

“I’ll be okay. Please, promise me? Tomorrow is going to be crazy when I speak to Evan.

Someone should be out there having fun because this will not be,” Sienna explains.

I’m not happy about this but she and Evan do need to talk.

Things have gotten complicated between them, and they are bringing a little baby into this world together.

Vanessa and I leave the hospital room, and neither of us can look at Evan knowing what we know. Ness leaves me and walks over to Christian, while I see Chance standing by himself and decide I’ll do what Sienna suggested and ask him to hang out.

Chance looks up at me and smiles as he pushes off the wall. “Hey, how is she?”

“She’s doing better. Her and Evan, I think, need to talk so we are going to give them some space,” I tell him. He nods. “Would you like to hang out?” Chance’s brows rise. “Not sure if you’ve been to Paris before?”

“I haven’t,” he says.

“Maybe you need the Derrick Jones tour of Paris then?” I smirk.

“I have a driver who can take us anywhere you want.” He grins.

“Really? Anywhere?” So many ideas. Chance bites his bottom lip.

We overhear Evan telling Blake and Charlotte that they should head out, that he wants to be alone. “Guess that’s our cue to leave,” I say as we make our way out.

“Hey, wait up,” Blake calls out after us. “Where are you guys going?”

“Derrick was going to show me around Paris. What about you guys?” Chance asks. Blake frowns as he looks between Chance and me.

“Charlotte, you live here, you should take Blake out,” I tell her. Her cheeks bloom pink.

“You’d want to show me around?” Blake asks, sounding surprised.

“Sure. If you want to hang out,” she answers timidly.

“Yeah, I’d like that.” He smiles. This is too cute.

“Dang, I only have my Vespa here,” Charlotte says.

“Are you not allowed passengers?” Blake asks.

“No, I can take one, just don’t have a second helmet, and your head is pretty precious.” She smirks, before realizing how that sounds. “I mean, ’cause you’re a rock star and you know …” she says, flustered.

Blake chuckles. “Let’s stop at a bike shop and buy me a helmet, and then you can show me around,” he tells her. “Meet back at the hotel around four? Don’t think Evan will be cool if he finds out his sister and I have gone out together.”

“Yeah, we will meet you downstairs at four,” Chance says before looking at his watch. “I’m all yours for a couple of hours.” He grins as we head to the van.

We climb in and I explain to the driver that we would like to do a city sights tour, that we don’t want to get out, just drive, and that we must be back at the hotel by four. He nods, and I press the privacy screen between the driver and us, locking us into our own little world.

“I’m surprised to see you,” I confess to him.

“I’m surprised I’m here.” He smirks back.

“I’ve been enjoying our phone calls.” I grin.
