Chapter 63 Derrick #2

Next thing, Oscar is on his knee in front of her. “Stacey Ferguson. I love you with all my heart. What we have been through these past couple of weeks has only brought us closer together. It’s made me realize what’s important in my life, and that is you. Will you marry me in thirty days?”

Sienna and I look at each other, we both have wide smiles on our faces.

“Do it. Do it. Do it,” I chant.

Stacey smiles and looks at Oscar on his knee, and then Sienna and me chanting.

“Yes. Let’s do this.”

Hell, yes!

Oscar picks her up and kisses her. Now that is romantic.

“You’re getting married in thirty-ish days. There’s so much to do.” I squeal.

“Derrick, we will just go to Town Hall and get married. There’s nothing to plan,” Stacey says.

“We can have a wedding back in LA or anywhere else in the world later,” Oscar adds.

That makes sense. “You know how much I love a wedding, and I was kind of hoping at the next one I could bring a date.”

“A date?” Oscar and Stacey look at me.

“Yeah. Charlie.” I smirk.

“Jackson’s friend. The military guy?” Oscar questions me.

“Yes.” I sigh dreamily.

“Are you two a thing?” Oscar asks.

“Yes. Kind of. I’m going to head to Montana next week.”

“You are?” Stacey gasps.

“Yeah. I’ve missed him. We have really built this up over messages since Thanksgiving.”

“It’s been going on that long?” Oscar looks at me.

Stacey frowns. “But weren’t you hooking up with Chance?”

“Chance?” Oscar turns and asks his fiancée.

“Yeah, Derrick and Chance have been in this toxic on/off thing for years, because well, Chance isn’t out of the closet,” Stacey explains.

“I didn’t know he needed to come out. I kind of thought he was like Finn, likes to experiment at the club but is into women,” Oscar says.

“I can’t speak for Finn, but Chance definitely likes men more, I think,” I add.

“I don’t understand, but … so you cheated on Charlie with Chance?” Stacey’s eyes narrow on me.

“Hell no. At Christmastime, something happened between Charlie and me, and we stopped communicating until Finn and Isla’s wedding.”

“What happened? Did he cheat? Because if he cheated on you, D, I’ll …” Oscar growls.

“Ragnar, when you go rogue like that, you know it gets me all hot and bothered.” I pant, fanning myself which earns me a Viking glare. “He didn’t cheat. My God, the guy is a fucking saint, he’s so sweet, considerate, hot, those muscles, and that …”

“Don’t think we need to know that,” Sienna says, quickly covering my mouth with her hand.

“Let’s just say he’s big all over,” I tease, winking at my friends, who all groan.

“Look, you know he and Jackson were in the same accident.” They all nod, and I can see Oscar’s eyes slightly widen.

We weren’t around when Jackson was hurt, but Oscar was.

“He suffers from PTSD, and when I called him, I triggered an attack and …”

“I’m sorry, D, you know that’s not your fault,” Oscar reassures me.

“Yeah, I do, now … but in that time Chance came around again, and I guess I was low, and he was giving me the attention he never had before, and we fell back into bed together and then I ran into Charlie at the wedding.”

“And there were sparks,” Sienna adds.

“There were. It’s also where I found out he lost his leg in that accident.”

“He did? I had no idea,” Stacey adds.

I nod. “That’s why he was pushing me away. He was kind of seeing someone when he had the accident, and basically, when they found out he had lost his leg, they dumped him, and I guess that added to his trauma.”

Stacey and Oscar look shocked. “That’s disgusting, what an asshole,” Stacey remarks.

“I don’t care about his leg. I think it makes him sexier because the guy is damn perfect, I’m glad he’s a little rough around the edges.” I smirk.

“Plus, he’s a cowboy,” Sienna adds.

“He sure knows how to wear a pair of jeans, and I’m hoping one day I get to see him in his uniform because he’s shown me photos and he’s so hot.” I swoon.

Oscar chuckles. “I’ve never seen you like this. Like I’ve seen you have crushes on guys before, but … you seem really smitten and it’s cute.”

“You think I’m cute, Ragnar?” I flutter my eyelashes at him.

“Hey, don’t put words in my mouth. Charlie scares me, he looks like he could kill me with his bare hands,” Oscar jokes. “Wait, is that what the fight was about at the wedding? I knew Charlie punched someone and left early, but I had no idea who.”

“He punched Chance because he forced himself on me.”

Oscar’s eyes widen. “He did what?”

“Look, it’s okay. It’s all sorted. Chance is sorry for what he did, he was jealous because I chose Charlie over him, but I’ve also cut contact with him,” I explain.

“Chance is a good kid, but he’s not for you,” Oscar adds.

“I know that now.”

“So, Charlie is the one?” Stacey asks.

I nod. “My crazy doesn’t scare him off, yet …”

“He’s not going anywhere. But you two do have stuff to sort out,” Sienna adds.

“Didn’t Jackson offer him a job?” Oscar asks.

“He did, but he’s unsure about LA,” I tell him.

“But he’s not unsure about you?” Oscar smirks.

“I sure as hell hope not, that’s why I need to go to Montana, see his world, see if …”

“You can be a cowboy?” Sienna teases.

“Yeah, pretty much.” I grin.

“I’m so happy for you, D,” Stacey says, running up and hugging me. “I need good news at the moment.”

“I’m happy for you, too. Can’t wait to get to know him and welcome him into the Dirty Texas family,” Oscar adds.

“No trials by fire to enter?” I joke.

“He’s best friends with Jackson, who is a scary mofo. So, if Jackson thinks he’s all right then he’s all right by us.” Oscar smirks, which makes me laugh. “But if he hurts you, as a team we will take him on,” Oscar warns.

“Thanks, Ragnar.”
