Every muscle in my body was sore and begging me for relief.

Even my toes were exhausted from curling so much.

I was sitting in Liam’s lap and he was running his fingers through my hair.

“You should go home and get some rest,” he whispered against my skin.

“If I go to sleep, I might not wake up in time for work.”

“There are no arraignments for the rest of this week, remember?” he asked. “The court is on an official holiday.”

“Judge Ashton’s staff doesn’t get holidays…”

“He’ll make an exception for you.” He rubbed his palm against my back. Then he gently helped me to my feet.

He looked around the office for my dress and grabbed it, slowly helping me back into it before getting dressed himself.

“I’ll drive you home,” he said, pressing his hand against the small of my back.

He led me through a private exit I’d never seen before, holding me steady.

When we reached the parking lot, we stared at the cement truck that was blocking his rental.

“I can drive,” I said. “I’m fine.”

“I would like to go home, too.”

“That’s what I meant.” I blushed. “I was offering to drive you.”

“Hmmm.” He opened my door, and I winced as I settled into the seat.

“Here.” He leaned over and typed a passcode into both of my devices. “I think you’ve been punished enough at this point.”

“You mean to tell me that you could’ve turned these off weeks ago?”

“I definitely could’ve.” He laughed, and I had the sudden urge to smack the smile off his lips. Then I remembered how good he felt when he was deep inside me minutes ago.

I cranked the engine and looked over at him.

“On second thought, do you mind driving yourself home?” I asked. “I can’t really feel my legs right now.”

“Not at all.” He kissed my forehead. “Move over…”
